  1. Session Word Count with Style Macro for LibreOffice Writer

  3. Set a word count target.
  4. Choose what paragraph styles to include in the word count. (Default Style is actually named Standard).
  5. Useful when writing from bullet point outline that you delete once the topic has been covered. Those deleted words will not be included in the word count if those notes are in a paragraph style not listed in the macro dialog box.

  9. 2. Copy session_wc_style.py file into Users\$USER$\AppData\Roaming\LibreOffice\4\user\Scripts\python (or appropriate folder for LO version and OS)
  10. 3. Copy target.png file to Users\$USER$\AppData\Roaming\LibreOffice\4\user\gallery
  11. 4. To run from menu: Tools -> Macros -> Run Macro; My Macros (Library), session_wc_style, wordCountbyStyle (Macro name)

  13. Word Count resets every time macro is run.
  14. Word Count Goal is stored in user field found under Insert -> Fields -> Other; Variables tab.

  16. Icon included so you can add the macro to a toolbar.
  17. 1. Menu: Tools -> Customise; Toolbars tab.
  18. 2. Example: Pick Standard toolbar from dropdown.
  19. 3. Scroll to bottom of list.
  20. 4. Click Add button.
  21. 5. In Category, scroll down to Macros and find session_wc_style.
  22. 6. Click Add button.
  23. 7. Click Close button.
  24. 8. Click Modify button and Rename to your liking.
  25. 9. Click Modify button and Change Icon.
  26. 10. Click Import button and pick target.png file from gallery location.
  27. 11. Click the bullseye (located either at beginning or end) and OK button.
  28. 12. Click OK button on the Customise window.
  29. 13. You did it. Now look on your toolbar. Go on, click it. Now shut up and write.
