- So, after a few hours inspecting the ship, taking it against various AI targets, I have a few things to say.
- First, it's pretty light on its feet for such a densely-built craft, no doubt because of its hydrogen thrusters, but seeing as it only uses them for propulsion its range won't be good in survival.
- That's pretty much the only stand-out good thing I noticed about it. The point-defence guns are mounted on the sides of the ship, meaning their fire is split between covering either side of the entire ship (and leaving a big blind spot along the dorsal hull). That's too much ship for just six guns to cover.
- Making matters worse, the bridge is pretty much totally unarmoured, so a single bombing run or well-aimed salvo could decapitate the ship and leave it dead in space.
- In fact, I found the armour on the entire ship to be somewhat lacking. A close pass that I undertook (in order to test the effectiveness of the point-defence guns) had the forward hull torn open to vacuum by an enemy missile turret, and nearly got me blown out into space by a direct hit to the bridge.
- Although the addition of heavy armour over the entire ship would compromise its manoeuvrability, I would at least suggest armouring the "citadel" at the heart of the ship, around the pressurized areas and vital systems.
- The Hyperion missiles, whilst well-built and a testament to your skill, are utterly useless and take up far too much space in the ship. I'd suggest stripping them out and using the space inside the ship for cargo space (perhaps an ammunition magazine?) and then using the apertures on the outer hull to mount more point-defence guns.
- Finally, the ship's main gun needs an upgrade, I'd suggest looking at some mods that would allow you to fit something closer to a proper MAC, rather than a pair of missile launchers.
- Hopefully this will be helpful to you.
