  1. Regarding "Operation Bayonetta 2".
  2.
  3. I think we all need to step back for a moment and look at this one. I realize where a lot of us are coming from regarding this: Polygon has published heinous, shitty hit pieces about Nintendo for years (MARIO KART 8 IS GONNA BE A PIECE OF SHIT AND SELL LIKE GARBAGE, GUYS, FOR REAL), mostly just to bait Nintendo fans into clicking the article and get dat precious CPM. Docking Bayonetta 2's score tangibly for being "oversexualized" is stupid, immature pandering on Arthur Gies' part. This is definitely true, but, it's Gies' platform, he can do whatever he wants with it and we can criticize him for how much of a chump he's being, that's how free speech works. A reviewer, as unprofessional as they are, as unethical as their site is, SHOULD NOT be punished for a score unless it contains outright untruthful, abusive or libelous content. And before you think that the score is going to harm the game's Metacritic and thus harm Platinum Games, first off, Bayo's reviewing INCREDIBLY well through the rest of the industry, so don't worry about that. Secondly, I doubt Nintendo takes part in such anti-developer practices anyway as the ones that burned Obsidian on their Metacritic score, but I have nothing to back that up. Thirdly, and this is important, regardless of the first two, THAT'S NOT POLYGON'S PROBLEM. That would be something you need to go after the PUBLISHER for, not the press.

  5. I know we love Bayonetta. I know we love Nintendo. I know we're still raw about how Dragon's Crown was treated. I know we're incredulous about their crappy articles on Tropico and Shadow of Mordor. But we cannot police other opinions or we're betraying the very core of what Gamergate stands for. Think about Kane and Lynch. Think about Jeff Gerstmann. This is treading DANGEROUSLY close to encouraging that sort of thing all over again and you can bet your ass, even if Nintendo probably wouldn't engage in this kind of thing anyway, EA and Ubisoft sure as shit would if they thought they could get away with it.

  7. If you have a problem with Polygon's bad articles about Nintendo over the last few years, make that clear. Get a list of the articles and state to Nintendo very clearly that you don't think they should give Polygon pre-release material anymore. State how pleased you are with their endeavors like Nintendo Direct and Nintendo Treehouse. Encourage them to continue going DIRECTLY to us, their consumers and to increasingly cut out the middleman of the gaming press. Nintendo is heading in that direction anyway and giving them positive feedback can't hurt.

  9. Also, somebody buy me a Wii U 'cause I'd really like to be able to play Bayonetta 2 as well. :(
