The wastelands - antimatter

[18:19]	Falconis	so now we come to the reason why the rest of the world isn't
[18:20]	Falconis	well, continent
[18:22]	Falconis	When they reached that point in their expansion, there was no more 'free room' for them to easily go on land, The rest was pretty much claimed territory/in between territories that wouldn't allow them to settle there
[18:22]	Falconis	so, long story short, war
[18:24]	Falconis	The first emperor (have to go find his name) started hostile initiatives vs freemen lands, The first on the list was Velcia.
[18:27]	Falconis	They couldn't be reasonably bypassed or avoided because of their placement. The land is basically bisected by a huge mountain range coming from the north and stopping somewhere center of mass, and Velcia took up the rest of the space coming from it's tail end to the coast
[18:28]	Falconis	Range was useful to them for magic things, fish is also useful. Turned into a strange line country, but I think that's a different story
[18:29]	Falconis	anyway, Velcia was (and still is even though it's no longer around) the great grand daddy of magic, they made tons of shit, the book of the consuming dragon one such artifact you may recognioze

[18:31]	Falconis	but, Empire far outweighed them in military might (and still does everyone else on this continent) and had enough magic of their own to make complete victory by the Velcians impossible.
[18:31]	Falconis	It was only a matter of time, so the Velcians left
[18:33]	Falconis	One day, there, next day searingly bright light, windows shattering all over the damn continent and the entire place was gone, leaving a magical ruin in it's wake
[18:34]	Grail	And that's the wastelands?
[18:34]	Grail	I was not expecting this involved of an answer.
[18:34]	Falconis	Lots of different theories on what happened, magical accident, superweapon gone wrong that kind of thing, but the prevailing one among scolars right now is that they just moved the entire place, noting that the ruin didn't go far beyond their lands
[18:34]	Falconis	yes, that's the wastelands
[18:35]	Falconis	it's quieted down considerably now from it's creation
[18:35]	Falconis	now the magical lightstorms are like once a week and don't destroy houses if you build them right
[18:35]	Falconis	people are still a no no, mages even more so
[18:36]	Falconis	Only places to cross the wasteland without going right over the the mountains are Troblis and ... that other northern place I'll have to get the name for again

[18:38]	Falconis	after his death, things got a little less tyrannical, now it's just loads of trade
[18:38]	Falconis	you still pay a toll, just not as much. Residents don't pay the toll as long as they can prove their residency
