  7. **Hello, everyone.**
  8. Some time ago i started a list with the most popular alternatives in there from Popcorn Time like software. I firstly included Time4Popcorn, after a while people started to talk and complain about Time4Popcorn. So of course research was done by other members of /r/popcorntime and we concluded to keep Time4Popcorn out of the list. A decision which i will not change only if Time4Popcorn shows me, and our community what they exactly want to do. So moving on, i have decided together with the new mod, that its best to change this topic and make it more of a warning list of what is possible compared what was found by members. So that's what we are doing here...

  10. **Android Release**
  11. Several members have reported that Time4Popcorn has released their Android client, they named it Popcorn Time, instead of Time4Popcorn. Which is to avoid the problems that their name has gotten and to steal our traffic (which is a bit ironic, i agree).
  12. The app itself uses the same kind of setup like before, it makes use of the website's. http://mobile_ch.time4popcorn.eu/
  13. http://mobile_wv.time4popcorn.eu/. This setup is not recommended because its dangerous, also there app doesn't work as far as we are aware of. Reviews of people of our community have been complaining that almost no movies at all work, which is not the case at Flixtor. Flixtor is the only good p2p/torrent alternative on the Android platform right know.

  15. **What does this means?**
  16. Time4Popcorn had their chance to make them selves better, they didn't change the code which they stole. They use our name to steal our traffic and make it look like we are behind the release. I have gotten not much more to say, 2 people have been claiming several things and we have added them in this thread aswell. If you feel like discussing this argument feel free to start a new topic on this subreddit! (Just don't go bashing in the comments)

  18. - Time4Popcorn uses a centralized server system which can make it vulnerable to takedowns, backdoors and other malwarious code. At this point in time however there has not been found any harmful code in Time4Popcorn.
  19. - Time4Popcorns's code is a blatant steal of code from the developers on discuss.get-popcorn.com. According to Corto-Rosso the code was under GPL3 license, which jduncanator did 2 months ago. https://github.com/popcorn-official/popcorn-app/blob/3eda43d40ce903b8300ceef7c01e2b4487f17376/LICENSE.txt. He also points out that new releaes including the new UI have also been put under GPL3 licenses. So yes, they are infact stealing code which they didn't create, and they do not bother to give credits. I personally am not effected, but i am dissapointed in the way time4popcorn uses resources. Because they can use Popcorn time's code, if they simply added proper credits.
  20. - Time4Popcorn has chosen to communicate on a limited level, mostly by email correspondence. I do not think that is bad right of the bat but it's a bit shady. Comparing it with them never answering on any of the questions regarding the code credits. If they thought that the code was theirs to use because there was no GPL, why didn't they just put that out there. Since they do have Twitter and Facebook.
  21. - At the time their source code was given out it had been a exact clone of Popcorn Time's source code, including all comments and contributions. Which is a bit weird because if they can code, why don't release your actual source code.
  22. - The website is at the moment of righting still similar to the Popcorntime's website. There is even one picture that hasen't been changed. Which just seems out of place. Please fix that Time4Popcorn, it looks unprofessional. http://i.imgur.com/o2Dxadm.png

  24. **I want to say to you all, It's your choice. Do what you think is good.**
  25. **Our recommendation is not to install Time4Popcorn or Popcorn Time (Time4Popcorn's android app) on Android, and to find yourself a safer alternative below**
  26. As you have read, Time4popcorn does not currently host any malwarious code. However they could change that every second of any day, which is very disturbing for me. I myself want to feel more safe when watching movies, content that is already "illegal" to watch.
