  1. * Ensure that text isn’t too close to the borders / sides of your slides
  2. ** Projectors have a tendency to cut the sides of your slides!
  3. *** Avoid highly indented bullet points, it’s a sign you’re overloading the slide with too much information
  4. * Ensure that text is large enough to be readable at a distance (> 18 point is usually a good guide). If you can read your slide in the thumbnail preview, that is a good sign.
  5. * Ensure that text has good contrast:
  6. ** Projectors - compared to screens - often have very poor contrast. Just because it looks okay on your computer screen doesn't mean it will look okay on the projector.
  7. ** Many people have problems with seeing low contrast. Please also try to consider colorblind people when picking colors.
  8. * Ensure that you spellcheck your document.
  9. * Ensure your presentation conforms with our Code Of Conduct.
  10. * Consider using a slidelint tool, such as http://slidelint.net/
  11. * There's nothing better for practice than actually giving your presentation to a trusted friend, but if nothing else make sure you run through it yourself a few times to check you're getting the timing right.
