  10.
  11. Slipping Between Rocks - - NE
  12. (-------------------------------------------------) - <---(M)---> -
  13. - S -
  14.
  15. Smoothly eroded rocks here tell the tale of the relationship between
  16. power and time, of water's patience and stone's slowly waning resolve. You
  17. find yourself beneath the surface, with water churning strongly all around,
  18. and your visibility is somewhat limited by the bubbles forced and often
  19. caught under the surface by the massive falls above. It seems that a tunnel
  20. has formed down here somehow. It leads both south and northeast, and each
  21. direction looks to promise very different things.

  30. (-------------------------------------------------) - <---(M)---> -
  31. SW - -
  32.
  33. Striated stone walls threaten to tear at your clothes and skin. At
  34. times, the passage becomes so narrow that you have no choice but to brush
  35. against the rocks, and at others it widens into a veritable cavern of its
  36. own. The darkness doesn't make things easier, but at least - unlike other
  37. underwater areas of the world - it seems bereft of things wishing to eat
  38. you. The only aquatic life here appears to be a small collection; some
  39. species of albino shrimp is living contentedly in the silt below you. A
  40. light current tries to pull you north.

  47. Undiscernable Currents - - NE
  48. (-------------------------------------------------) - <---(M)---> -
  49. - S -
  50.
  51. The water here moves, sometimes carrying you northeastward and at others
  52. carrying you south. It moves unceasingly, restless and uncertain. The
  53. walls of this channel have a tinge of green to them, hinting at life, and
  54. the floor below is less silty and more of a murky green-brown. Curious, it
  55. is, that green would be in such a dark place, but perhaps that very soft
  56. light to the north might be at fault.

  63. Calm Waters - N -
  64. (-------------------------------------------------) - <---(M)---> -
  65. SW - -
  66.
  67. Tiny white minnows dart to and fro, chasing after one another and nipping
  68. at fins in small schools. They ignore your presence completely, sometimes
  69. even using you as cover - an obstacle for the others to navigate in their
  70. game. This area is comfortably cool, the water nigh stagnant, and is
  71. brightly green. Light emanates from miniscule crystalline grains in the
  72. rocks around you, permitting algae to grow, which in turn filters the light
  73. and bathes the tunnel in a calming green.

  80. Swimming Through Algae - - NE
  81. (-------------------------------------------------) - <---(M)---> -
  82. - S -
  83.
  84. Large crystal deposits glow brightly all around you, some in veins that
  85. streak nearly the entire length of this stretch of channel. Algae grows
  86. rampant in the light, as if supernaturally fuelled by the nurishment, and
  87. its long tendrils float mostly motionless in the calm water. In response,
  88. other life here is abundant as well. Small schools of trout swim by,
  89. chasing after water bugs while crabs and small octopi stir in the mud below.
  90. All the walls and floor are green and grey and brown, but everything that
  91. moves and swims about is a stark white, marred only by whatever algae has
  92. begun to grow on it as well.

  99. A Curious Cave Reef - - -
  100. (-------------------------------------------------) W <---(M)---> -
  101. SW - -
  102.
  103. The walls here bulge outward, creating a large chamber that is well lit
  104. by glowing blue crystals naturally embedded within. Craggy, algae-covered
  105. rocks and boulders crowd the ground, covered with strange orange and pink
  106. cave corals that grow about them. The corals grow in such a way as to leave
  107. holes and tunnels in and through them, and in these tunnels live creatures
  108. that are stranger yet than the coral, with changing skins and oddly placed
  109. fins, and some with mouths that make up half their body. Fish swim about
  110. happily, sometimes swirling about as one of their number is taken by
  111. something hungry.

  118. A Teeming Pool - - -
  119. (-------------------------------------------------) - <-U-(M)---> E
  120. - - -
  121.
  122. Though fairly dark, life somehow makes this pool its home, and in amounts
  123. that are impressive to behold. Everywhere, fish of all sizes swim in
  124. schools, albino squids and octopi pulsate and glide through the water, crabs
  125. scuttle about on the walls and muddy ground - even the occasional snake
  126. undulates by. It makes little sense from your vantage, but it is possible
  127. that it may have something to do with the blueish light coming from a small
  128. opening in the rocks to your east. A swim may be in order for the curious
  129. at heart.

  145. - - -
  146.
  147. Through a narrow, rocky opening behind and obscured by the altar of Earth
  148. to the south, a preternatural sense of quiet and stillness takes hold. A
  149. thick bed of moss begins to grow on the ground and walls here, growing
  150. thicker as it spreads down into a cave-like tunnel. The spongy green
  151. silences footfalls and absorbs exterior noises. Water drips slowly from
  152. budding stalactites fifteen or so feet above, falling silently to the
  153. carpeted floor. Even your own heartbeat seems somehow quieted here. What
  154. lies below, only Oracle knows.

  161. A Sloping, Mossy Tunnel - - -
  162. (-------------------------------------------------) - <-U-(M)---> -
  163. SW - -
  164.
  165. Green is everywhere, and from all around is a twinkling in the scant light. Dew like clear gemstones falls like light rain from above. Whilst sounds are scarce, all emanate from below, where you can hear the gentle lapping of water and an occasional muted splash. Few leaves seem to have made their way down here from the forested area above, outside the tunnel, and they grow more numerous the further you descend. Accompanying sound is smell, and the scent here is of dampness and clean earth. The little light you can still see above fails to make it much further than here, and only mystery and darkness proceed with you downward.

  173. (-------------------------------------------------) - <---(M)---> -
  174. - - SE
  175.
  176. Natural light absent, you see naught but mold and lichens of different shades growing here upon the damp cave walls. Water drips steadily from stalactites above - some into a large, dark pool of water that extends to the west end of the tunnel. Dead moss and leaves have massed below your feet, some floating on the surface of the water. On closer inspection of the pool, a very dim light can be seen under leaves floating on the surface. The light hints that there may be more to its depths. To the southeast, stony walls appear to give way to earth and the deep, protruding roots of the growing
  177. things above.

  185. (-------------------------------------------------) - <---(M)---> -
  186. - - SE
  187.
  188. The water you hear to the northwest makes this place damp, and the
  189. dampness collects on the cool rocks and roots in and sticking out of the
  190. slightly muddy earthen wall here, making everything you touch wet. Weaving
  191. in and out of massive roots that drop down from the ceiling and protrude
  192. from the walls makes the passage in this area slightly more difficult than
  193. other areas of the tunnels you've been to. The stifled, wet crackling
  194. beneath your feet with every step is from a thick bed of slowly rotting
  195. leaves that have collected in this low place over the years; it smells musty
  196. but clean, and is easily bearable. From the south, a deep, bass rumble
  197. hints at something moving - possibly alive.

  205. (-------------------------------------------------) - <---(M)---> -
  206. - - SE
  207.
  208. The air here is slightly humid, and dry leaves cover wet ones beneath
  209. your feet. Every time your foot comes down, life ripples around it.
  210. Beetles, centipedes, crickets, and worms call this place home, and their
  211. numbers are staggering. At first only noticeable when you took a step, your
  212. light now catches their shining backs on the walls and ceiling, and from
  213. time to time, you see them fall down to the leaves below. Spiderwebs fill
  214. the spaces between roots and tiny stalactites, and the spiders that spin
  215. them all work tirelessly to repair the damages to their webs inflicted by
  216. the prey they've caught. Occasionally, some small creature tries to crawl
  217. up your leg, or falls unexpectedly into your hair.

  224. A Dance of Swirling Leaves NW - -
  225. (-------------------------------------------------) - <---(M)---> -
  226. - - SE
  227.
  228. A few small insectoids skitter about here and there amongst mottled grey
  229. leaves. Leaves and the dried out carapaces of dead bugs are constantly
  230. being caught in eddying breezes, like tiny, harmless tornadoes that spin in
  231. ceaseless cycles - too gentle to do more than throw a rare speck of
  232. something into an eye or lightly dirty a cloak. A hint of light grows
  233. slightly brighter to the southeast.

  242. (-------------------------------------------------) - <---(M)---> -
  243. - - SE
  244.
  245. The walls of this stretch of tunnel are smooth stone streaked in varying
  246. shades of muted green, blue, and grey. The floor is flat, if a little
  247. bumpy, but of the same stone, and the only other thing you can see is tiny
  248. debris blowing in from the northwest in the steady, decay-scented breeze.
  249. Your clothes ruffle and flap in the wind, but it gives you no more trouble
  250. than that. Darkness looms to the northwest, and light to the southeast.
