The most important thing to remember when writing fun and consensual bondage is safety. If practicing it IRL, you need, NEED to keep this in mind. Nerve damage, ligature scarring and asphyxiation are no joke. When writing fiction. you can take certain artistic liberties when it comes to health, but many of the same ideas still apply. If it's consensual, any pain endured should be measured rather than involuntary, which means you have to be particular when picking restraints.

First off, you want either padded leather or padded metal. Rope and tape are good for capture scenarios, but both have their own problems. Rope can cause ropeburn and marking, even if treated; tape can cause chemical reactions and leave angry red marks when removed. Custom made, custom fitted gear is the best to use.

When it comes to dressing the sub, I'm very partial to bodystockings (with openings around the breasts and crotch area), as they not only provide a lovely, nylon sheen to the skin but also offer an additional layer against restraints. Any clothing or underwear worn should be either easily removable or non-restrictive. Dressing up for role play can be incredible fun, as long as the outfit can be taken off easily. As for more "long term" wear: underbust corsets, armgloves and thigh-high stockings are all excellent choices. Actual panties should be used as gag stuffing or makeshift masks, rather than being worn over the intimate areas. Latex is also a very, very fun thing to wear and should be treated in a smiliar fashion, though remember that wearing it in hot environments can be...pleasantly uncomfortable.

Safewords should include an actual word, a hummed signal, a tapped signal and a body gesture. Regular checks should be made every 1-2 hours.
