  17.
  18. Healing:
  19.
  20. Healing is essential for any party to go on a successful dungeon raid when you aren't expecting or hoping to lose a member.
  21.
  22. +++ Vestal; only character with party heal, great for preventing death blows.
  23. +++ Occultist; high stakes high rewards healer, is likely to heal more than the vestal, especially at later levels.
  24. ++ Crusader; Poor heals and never supplemental to a Vestal or Occultist but great for builds and can accent the previously
  25. mentioned healers. Stress healer and torch lighter.
  26. + Leper; basic self heal | Plague Doctor; basic healer. bleed and blight heals
  27.
  28. Take a +++ tier character and add a crusader. This can be a game changer in many ways in a high stress dungeon. If you have
  29. a Jester, Vestal, and Crusader in a party there is no need to upgrade a stress reducing construction other than to place
  30. good quirks for the following reason: when you are doing a basic fight where there is a throw away enemy involved, remove
  31. all enemies but that throwaway. The throwaway enemy will deal little harm of any kind to the party while you are able to
  32. use Inspiring Cry, Divine Comfort, and Inspiring Tune every round to lower the stress levels to zero and place all health
  33. to maximum once more.
  34.
  35. Buffs and Stress:
  36.
  37. Buffs are usually going to be coming from a character onto themselves, otherwise you have the following...
  38.
  39. +++ Jester; the jester is able to party heal stress, be it at a poor likelihood, it can still save the party. Party Ballad allows for an effective >16% average damage modifier at maximum capability for level 1. He has one debuff that reduces accuracy.
  40. ++ Plague Doctor; 15% increase in damage as well as a DoT remover for Blight and Bleed. Can inflict Blight.
  41. ++ Vestal; a vestal can provide a debuff to dodge to a great degree, and increases torch light.
  42. ++ Occultist; occultist has 2 debuffs, good for damage dealing, and acts as an excellent utility character with pull and the ability to deal very good damage to the back two positions. Has a healing ability.
  43. + Holy Water; holy water can be used on certain religious objects to reduce stress and provide long lasting buffs
  44.
  45. Depends on what you are going for with your party, but take some holy water for all ruin runs.
  46.
  47. Threat Area:
  48.
  49. Threat area is where you can damage with a single attack. These are typical nuke attacks and this can be very important
  50. when deciding your party for what range you deal with.
  51.
  52. X X X []Hellion
  53. [][]X X Plague Doctor
  54. X X [][]Crusader
  55. []X X []Jester
  56. X X X []Highway Man
  57. X X [][]Leper
  58. [][]X X Occultist
  59. []X X []Grave Robber
  60.
  61. The following is a build of 9 total character that can be exchanged effectively and hold their own use:
  62. [2][3][3][1]*Occultist Jester Hellion Crusader
  63. [3][3][2][1] Occultist Bounty Hunter Hellion Leper
  64. [3][3][3][0] Vestal Highway Man Hellion Hellion
  65. [2][2][0][0] Jester Vestal Leper Crusader
  66. ²: used twice |J² V² O² L² C² 2H² B Hi
  67.
  68. *Footnote - The numbers in the brackets represent the added amount of nuke abilities that can be casted to a specific position.
  69.
  70. Stunning:
  71.
  72. For those looking to base a team off of stun-lock, don't!
  73. Enemies can easily resist stunlock and the damage you may lose from having a party of stuns can be detrimental to your
  74. parties health and sanity. Stun can still be extremely viable option to consider when determining your build.
  75.
  76. +++ Hellion; Hellion is the only class with ability to stun the first 2 positions in a single attack, however she does suffer
  77. from debuffs. Hellion proves to be one of the highest damage dealing classes in the game with an effective 135% damage nuke
  78. to the first 3 positions, otherwise she can act as an excellent last hitter. *Stun Chance of 200% at higher levels*
  79. +++ Plague Doctor; with the largest stun pool of cheapest cost in the game, being not debuff and 2 positions, plague doctor is
  80. the best stun based character. While a generally weak character, the Plague Doctor can benefit the party with 2 units in
  81. the back as well as provide buffs, heals, and last hit capabilities.
  82. ++ Bounty Hunter; good utility unit, poor AoE, basic stun class | Grave Digger; reliable but poor
  83. utility character, basic stun class with large dodge bonus | Crusader; very good class, high utility, basic stun class
  84. + Vestal; with the greatest healing capabilities in the game, and a stun that does not take up a majority of it's damage, the
  85. Vestal can easily be considered good tier as a character for stun and otherwise.
  86.
  87. It is suggested that if you are seeking more stun, take the plague doctor as you are likely to have a Hellion or Vestal in
  88. your party as is. Recognize that in later levels you will be required to have +Stun trinkets!

  92. /dadg/ Guide to - Location Preparation
  93.
  94. Locations have different characteristics and indications on how you should prepare for them in provisions and men.
  95.
  96. Warrens: The Warrens have less resistance to both blight and bleed in comparison to the other two dungeon types. There is
  97. little need of shovels while inside. For those who are willing to take risks, take herbs so that you can save a
  98. large amount of provision money on food as many of the intractable objects give 6-12 food pieces with herbs. The
  99. biggest danger is gaining negative quirks while in the dungeon for its sickly atmosphere and occupants.
  100.
  101. Obstacles generated: 0 - 3 Battles generated: 3 - 14
  102. Curios generated: 22 Traps generated: 3 - 7
  103.
  104. Ruins: The Ruins have minimal dangers in terms of intractable objects, shovels needed are in lowest count of all present
  105. dungeons in the game. Being that the Ruins are largely occupied by Skeletons you must be prepared to be both
  106. spooked and have characters that do not depend on Bleed damage.
  107.
  108. Obstacles generated: 0 - 4 Battles generated: 3 - 14
  109. Curios generated: 22 Traps generated: 2 - 6
  110.
  111. Weald: Often described as the most irritating of dungeon types, the Weald forces the character to bring more torches and
  112. shovels to counter the winding paths that are caught by blight as described by the narrator. As it is blighted so
  113. do not depend on Blight damage while in the Weald.
  114.
  115. Obstacles generated: 1 - 5 Battles generated: 3 - 14
  116. Curios generated: 22 Traps generated: 1 - 5

  120. /dadg/ Guide to - Quirks
  121.
  122. There are many Quirks in the game, good and bad regardless of what the game says, being yellow or red. When it comes to
  123. Quirks, here is what you want to keep in mind:
  124.
  125. Very few red quirks few a bonus to the player, and it will be appearant as to what they are.
  126. The worst of red quirks aren't always stat related, if you have a kleptomaniac in your party, they may steal much needed resources
  127. and damage the economy of the player as well as the quest.
  128. If you are in need of money and you are on a tight budget, don't send your party to the sanitarium for quirks that restrict
  129. stress relief activities.
  130. Yellow quirks can be horrible, useless even, but you can't get rid of them. Just keep them in mind when you are choosing a
  131. party to go to a particular dungeon when you know that some heroes have dungeon specific quirks.
  132. Quirks can still mean a lot, and if you want to fill a party up with quirks and fill up your sanitarium for a month, then
  133. you can put them to any mission they find valid and leave immediately, it will give them quirks and you refresh shops,
  134. quest opportunities, and free up heroes that have been put into town faculties.
  135.
  136. /dadg/ Guide to - Making the game easier
  137.
  138. Legitimate Ways (Tips):
  139.
  140. Do not forget to abandon and flee from fights, or even dungeons, when you are caught off guard and do not believe that
  141. you can continue to fight!
  142.
  143. Think of your measly quest reward (gold) as quest funding, use that to decide how much you get in terms of supplies.
  144.
  145. Always take your trinkets off of your heroes that are not off to go to battle, you may lose them as an event.
  146.
  147. You can bring useful trinkets that help in very select scenarios along with you but putting them on person and taking
  148. them off into your inventory to wait until said purpose has come to be made.
  149.
  150. Find enemies with stress attacks, and if you are vulnerable to them, destroy them with prejudice!
  151.
  152. Stress can destroy a team, find ways of reducing it!
  153.
  154. Going into raid and abandoning will grant new quirks to your party and refresh what has been done in town, use this to
  155. reclaim your A-team, get a desired quirk, or find an item in the trinket shop.
  156.
  157. Windows Users:
  158.
  159. Put the following in as a batch file for saves:
  160. del /s/q "C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Saved Games\Dankest"
  161. xcopy /s/e ""C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Saved Games\Darkest" "C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Saved Games\Dankest"

  176.
  177. /dadg/ Guide to - Making the Game More Difficult
  178.
  179. The game can die quickly for some people, 8 to 20 hours to get to the end game for most, so challenges can liven up the
  180. experience!
  181.
  182. Dice:
  183.
  184. You need more RGN? Use a set of dice to determine what abilities you will bring, what heroes you will bring and how many
  185. of each supply items you will bring
  186.
  187. 5D8drop1 for abilites
  188. 5D10drop1 for what heroes you will take as there are 10 current available hero types
  189. 3D20 for food 1D8 for medical items 1D8 for keys 6D8 for torches
  190. 1D4 for hero position
  191.
  192. Speed Running:
  193.
  194. Plan your money management, crank up the game speed to x20, and get rolling!
  195. The only person stopping you from getting 100k gold and 0 deaths by week 20 is you!
  196.
  197. Ever run a long dungeon in under 5 minutes? Figure out how to!
  198.
  199. Balls to the Wall:
  200.
  201. Find a DRM free copy, because I know you all bought the game, and play multiple sessions at once.
  202. I thought I had to mess with the directories but you just have to use 3 different saves, don't know how to do more than that.
