  1. This is a glossary of various important terms found in Harem Bro Quest, listed in (hopefully) alphabetical order. The aim of this is to give players some insight into the world of HBQ. If there are any errors or ordering mistakes, notify me during a thread or on Twitter and I’ll fix it.
  2.
  3. Unlike the character sheet, which changes over time and thus requires new pastebins every thread, this document will be constant. I will try to keep this as spoiler free as possible. However, do proceed with caution. Reading this is kinda like reading the HBQ anime’s purely hypothetical and non-existent wiki.
  4.
  5. I will do my best to explain concepts in the actual threads, rather than dumping info here. This is more of a reference, if anything.
  6.
  7. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  8. $CHAN: The best and worst American imageboard available. Users post anonymously, with most recent posts appearing at the top. There are over fifty boards available, and most of them are filled with anime fans. Beware of shitposting.
  9.
  10. @CHAN: The Japanese counterpart to $chan, despite @chan coming first. Kazuya doesn’t use it because there is no catalog. It has lot more boards than $chan.
  11.
  12. A-1 ACADEMY: The longer name A-1 Megiddo Academy of Supernatural Development. It is a somewhat prestigious school specializing in teaching magic classes alongside regular ones. The final battle took place in the courtyard, and promptly reduced the entire place to rubble.
  13.
  14. ARISATO PARK: A beautiful park in Megiddo City. Tatsuya, Kazuya and Hatoko used to play there a lot as kids.
  15.
  16. AZAZEL: The Dark Lord, the BBEG, the ruler of the Underworld. He tried to take over Earth, but underestimated humanity and lost. His killer was Tatsuya Aragaki.
  17.
  18. FALLEN ANGEL: Angels that fell from heaven for the sin of wanting to interact with humans. Fallen Angels are characterized by their dark wings, and their ability to wield corrupted light. The can live up to four times as long as humans, and procreate thrice as slow.
  19.
  20. FANGIRLS: What the thirteen heroes occasionally have to run from.
  21.
  22. GRAY SOUL: The blade Kazuya wields. It is full of toxic madness, and is corrupting to the touch.
  23.
  24. INFINITE STRATOS (IS): Mechanically powered exoskeleton suits that serve as weapons of mass destruction, developed by the genius scientist Tabane Shinonono. In a nutshell, the IS machines are women-only mech-suits, that allow the user to fly and wield numerous hi-tech weapons. They are considered to be one of the Technology Side’s greatest achievements. According to the Alaskan treaty, IS machines are forbidden from being used in standard warfare. Only one exception to this rule has occurred, and that was when demons began attacking every country on earth.
  25.
  26. The current strongest IS user is Laura Bodewig, who took the title from Chifuyu Orimura during the latter stages of the demon invasion. Only one male IS pilot exists: Ichika Orimura.
  27.
  28. KOSHIMIZU FAMILY: A wealthy and influential family, located in Japan. They deal with both magical and technological products. The next heir is Sachiko Koshimizu.
  29.
  30. LEMON-LIME: Kazuya’s favourite flavor of drink. Orange is for plebs.
  31.
  32. MADNESS ENHANCEMENT: As the name implies, Madness Enhancement is the ability to increase one’s stats at the cost of mental stability. It is not suited for fighting opponents with skill, unless one can somehow retain sanity.
  33.
  34. MAGIC: The power to alter reality in accordance to one’s desire. Just how much can be altered and to what extent is determined by the caster’s magic potential. Magic is more flexible and liquid than technology. To compensate for this, it is easier to make mistakes with.
  35.
  36. MAGIC, ALMIGHTY: One of the rarer magic types available. Almighty magic is difficult to learn, and even more difficult to master. Almighty magic carries the property of being unhindered by most defenses, such as blocking, reflection or absorption. It can, however, be resisted against. Nothing is weak to almighty magic, either. It is characterized by its white-purple aura, and is considered to be non-elemental.
  37.
  38. MEGIDDO CITY: The newest ward of Japan, located north of Nermina. It is the prime center for the development of the integration of magic and technology. Many individuals with strange powers tend to gather here.
  39.
  40. MEGIDDOLAON AMUSEMENT PARK: Megiddo City’s local amusement park. Go there and have fun. Sponsored by the Koshimizu corporation.
  41.
  42. METAHUMAN: Beings that appear human but possess subtle differences that make them otherwise. This includes fallen angel offspring, elves, kitsune, humanoid youkai, vampires, catgirls, dwarves and more. They generally have innate powers that set them apart from human beings. All metahumans possess the same rights as human beings.
  43.
  44. MUMBLR: A microblogging and social networking site. It allows users to post content in a short form blog. It is also filled with shitheads, just like $chan. Good luck getting its users to admit it, though.
  45.
  46. NOBLE PHANTASM: The ultimate trump card of a warrior.
  47.
  48. PARTY OF THIRTEEN: The thirteen heroes who saved the world from Azazel and his demonic forces. In the order of joining, they are Tatsuya Aragaki, Kazuya Narukami, Hatoko Kushikawa, Sachiko Koshimizu, Souji ‘Shindou’ Mitsuka, Laura Bodewig, Myde, Kurumi Tokisaki, Trafalgar Law, STREUM, Courier Six and Syoko Hoshi. They are all revered by the public.
  49.
  50. PLANEPTUNE: A video game console, known for being the dark horse of the great console war. It has surpassed its peers, the Lastation, the Leanbox and the Lowee.
  51.
  52. REALITY MARBLE: A type of magic that is a mystery among mysteries, and a rarity among rarities. The concept of a Reality Marble is having one’s inner world materialized and projected onto reality. It is created via an application of the user’s wills and ideals. All things within are forced to obey the caster’s rules, and will be completely cut off from the normal reality. A good way to destroy a Reality Marble is to shatter the ideals of the user until they no longer believe in it. If nothing else, Reality Marbles are not infinite, and will be destroyed once the caster runs out of magic.
  53.
  54. It is also worth noting that Reality Marbles are a relatively unknown concept, and much work is being conducted on them. They cannot be obtained through simple research. Due to them being based off ideals and wills, they also cannot be passed down from generation to generation.
  55.
  56. SILVER QUEEN: A daughter of Azazel. Despite what some might say, the two of them did not fuck. Not that Azazel wouldn’t be willing to do such a thing…
  57.
  58. SOUL: The incorporeal essence of a living creature. It is a separate entity from the body and the mind. Tampering with it is very dangerous.
  59.
  60. TOURNAMENT OF THE MINDS: A tournament held around the world, in which individuals from the technological and magical sides get together to show their mettle. It is basically the Magic and Technology Olympics. A major part of it is the free-for-all fighting tournament.
  61.
  62. TWATTER: An online social networking service that allows users to send short 140 character messages. Over half of them are filled with passive-aggressiveness.
  63.
  64. UNDERWORLD, THE: The home of all demons, including Azazel and the Silver Queen.
  65.
  66. WEAPON-GIRL: Homunculi implanted with the souls of weapons. They were created by the Axis forces in World War II to be as shock troops against the Allied armies. Three types of weapon-girls exist: shipgirls, tankgirls and gungirls—all of them possess superhuman strength and wield an inordinate amount of firearms and ammunition. Post-WW2, it was declared that all weapon-girls and similar beings were to receive the same rights as human beings. Nowadays, their main role is to fight the dreaded Abyssal fleet.
  67.
  68. All weapon-girls have superhuman strength and endurance. They possess only a limited form of magic: the ability to summon their weaponry from a separate space.
  69.
  70. WEAPON-GIRL (ABYSSAL): Monsters created from the negative emotions of the weapon-girls. Abyssals are characterized by their glowing eyes and pale white skin. They were ‘born’ in the middle of WW2, where weapon-girls had died in the thousands. Their collective despair and rage accumulated in the murky depths, giving birth to most dangerous breed of creature to ever swim in the seven seas. The Abyssals are a plague to all sailors, with nothing to lose and a tendency to destroy everything in sight. Millions are sunk in every year trying to rid the ocean of them. However, this is impossible; as long as weapon-girls exist, so will their emotions, and therefore Abyssals will also continue to exist. It is rumored that some Abyssals escaped into the Underworld in the latter stages of the demon invasion.
  71.
  72. YUUTUBE: The premier video sharing site on the Internet. Don’t read the comments.
