  1. A woman stands on a rain-dampened street, her brown raincoat open to the damp but dry air. A navy blue blouse and black skirt cling crisply to her form, golden hair swept forward and over a shoulder. A dark tunnel lays behind her, cordoned off by electric yellow tape stamped with CAUTION in black letters. Flashing signs warn far-away drivers that the route is closed to the public, and a dozen workers move with the languor of those with many more hours of work ahead of them.
  2.
  3. "We're on in 5...4...3..." the cameraman counts down, his fingers marking time as he mouths the numbers to the woman in front of him.
  4.
  5. Her face goes from a contemplative stare to a professional mask, raising her mic as the camera light blinks on.
  6.
  7. "We go now to June-" An electrical system in the bank erupts into a shower of sparks, drowning out her earpiece for a moment, but she takes her cue anyway.
  8.
  9. "Thanks, Joe."
  10.
  11. She gestures with one her free hand to the tunnel behind her. "Behind me is the Lincoln Tunnel, the scene of a brazen daytime robbery earlier today."
  12.
  13. "In a series of events that read more like a movie script than real life, a delivery truck operated by Nightshade Security, a security firm well known in New Castelia for their longstanding record of performance and wide-reaching security network, was assaulted and hijacked in the middle of rush-hour traffic."
  14.
  15. "According to eyewitnesses, shortly after it entered the tunnel, the lights inside simply went out - the result of some sort of electrical overload at the power lines - causing several vehicles to crash together near the entrance."
  16.
  17. "Many witnesses report seeing a number of figures moving through the darkened tunnels and towards the truck, up to and including things like a robot man, a Gengar assailant, several heavily armed individuals, and what eyewitnesses describe as 'a violent male Froslass'."
  18.
  19. "While one of the guards was found on scene, the truck, its contents, and two of the Nightshade detail attached to it have yet to be recovered. The guard is currently in hospital for his injuries, and Nightshade has declined to comment as to possible motives or the nature of their delivery, but assures the public that they are working with the NCPD to find whoever is responsible for these actions."
  20.
  21. "Unfortunately for Nightshade, the day's drama didn't end there as only a few hours later, a scuffle erupted at the wharf during loading time resulting in minor property damage and the theft of another item that they also refuse to disclose the nature of. Nightshade claims the two events are unrelated, and declined to issue further comments."
  22.
  23. "Back to you, Joseph." She says, staring into the camera.
  24.
  25. "Thanks, June. In other strange news around New Castelia, many lakefront residents reported a strange occurence: a number of Steel-type pokemon flying by overhead. For a number of residents, this was just a novel occurence but as the Magnemites settled in on the transformers for..."
  26.
  27. The camera light finally winks off as Joe settles into the next piece, and June slings her mic onto a shoulder and cocks her hip to the side. "Two hits in one day?" she says to the cameraman, as he starts to pack the equipment. "No way that's a coincidence, Warren."
  28.
  29. "You think somebody's got it out for Nightshade?" he asks, having been around her long enough to accept her news-seeking musings.
  30.
  31. "I think there's a big fish in the water, and we're just seeing the Karp splash."
  32.
  33. Warren pauses in his packing, crouched on the ground, and looks up at her in confusion. "...what?"
  34.
  35. June sighs, and heads for the green SUV with 'CNN' plastered on the side in bright red-and-white letters. "Let's just get to the wharf before those bottomfeeders at Zoroark News stink up the place, alright?"
