Once upon a time in the mythical land or yore, there was a tower
in this tower lived a wizard!
But not just any wizard.
This one was special.
He held the secret to something very special.
But
there we those who sought to steal this secret
The wizard, of course, knew all of this
so he cast a spell
the very last spell he would ever cast
he poured all his powers into it
and the heavens shook
lightning crashed
all of his wisdom
all of his power
was passed into a baby girl
That night, they came for him
but the secret was no longer his
he had given it up
to keep it safe
and so the years passed
the darkness did not leave the land, but it was held at bay
it lacked the one secret power which would let it prevail
for it was hidden
In the fullness of time, a girl grew into a young woman
her fame grew
The Witch Of The Elder Wood
many thought her to be evil
but this was not the case...
But tales are heard by many
and by some that should not know
the forces of evil converged on the Elder Wood
to take what they so desired
for they finally knew
it was she who possessed it
Muriel stood outside her cottage and waited
she made no attempt to flee
no effort to create defenses
she just waited
alone
in the gathering gloom
as the enemy drew near, she sat upon a stool to tend her fire, paying them no attention
the enemy grew wary of her, wondering what great power she held
but still they came towards her
she smiled and stoked the small fire
they raised their weapons to strike her down
and steal her magic
for hers was the greatest gift of all
Muriel never cried out
she did not struggle
she simply died
and the magic died with her
and that is why
to this very day
we will never know our true potential
