  1. Hello, random person. This paste is a critique of My Little Pony Season 4 Episodes 1&2, like the title says.
  2.
  3. Alright, so after way too long of a hiatus, season 4 is finally upon us, with a premier that I best describe as...nice. Not bad, not amazing, just...nice. I'll try to go over as much as I can in this review.
  4.
  5. The opening:
  6.
  7. So here we have Twilight learning to properly fly, being taught by none other than Rainbow Dash herself. When she crash lands, Applejack tries to cheer her up, calling her "Princess Twilight" in the process. When Twilight tells her that that isn't nesseccary, Rarity steps in, saying that she needs to learn to accept this. I have a mild issue with this, because Rarity is basically saying that Twilight has to let society determine what she is.
  8.
  9. The next part features Twilight's friends going back to ponyville, while Twilight has to stay in Canterlot. Twilight is saddened by their leave, but the viewer is unable to sympathize with this because Pinkie immediately sends her a letter saying things will be fine.
  10.
  11. Twilight goes back to the castle, and in her room, she is greeted by Celestia, who, for some reason, refers to her as princess, like everyone else. My issue with this is that Twilight and Celestia are now equals, meaning that they both should refer to each by first names when they are having a casual conversation. The scene should've had Celestia telling Twilight that she should just refer to her as Celestia.
  12.
  13. During the night, some wooden and horny tentacles kidnap Celestia and Luna. Twilight wakes up to see that both the sun and the moon are up at the same time, as panic slowly fills Canterlot. Twilight walks outside, and everyone asks her to fix this, though, like the viewer, the solution to this predicament is unknown. The guards bring her inside, along with some poor voice acting, especially the brown guard. She tells them to find the princesses, and they leave.
  14.
  15. Twilight learns that ponyville is in trouble, and flies there with Spike on her back, meaning that I can call out the people that try to say that the wings haven't changed anything.
  16.
  17. The horny tentacles have started to take over the town, with no way to stop them. Everyone has a decent reaction to this, minus Rarity. Applejack and her family try to pull them out, Rainbow Dash is busy fighting the blueberry clouds, Pinkie is doing...something, and Fluttershy is scared. But Rarity? She looks out the window, oblivious to the plant rape, and goes on with her life, allowing the plants to emit a gas that messes with her and Sweetie Belle's horns.
  18.
  19. Using their elements, they summon Discord, blaming him for this trouble. He denies it, and suggests that they ask Zeccora, who comes to town because the plants have taken over her hut. She gives Twilight some cum in a vile, and she drinks it, seeing a flashback of how Luna became nightmare moon and got defeated by Celestia in 5 minutes. I find this flawed, because it was implied that Luna ruled for some time, be it days, months, etc., but Celestia immediately sent her to the moon, meaning that most ponies would not have noticed that the sun was forcibly being blocked by the moon, and if any did, then they would've assumed that they just saw something, since the world was in darkness for only a few minutes.
  20.
  21. Twilight comes out of this flashback, and it was revealed that everything she said in the sequence was said outloud, with Discord laughing at her as a result. She drinks the white cream again, hoping to actually learn a way to succeed. She sees the flashback of how the two princesses defeated Discord with the elements of harmony, followed by the sisters visiting a tree known as the tree of harmony, ruining many headcanons.
  22.
  23. The mane six(and Spike) go into the woods, and they encounter a crocodile. After that encounter, Twilight's friends agree that Twilight shouldn't come with them, claiming that she is too important to have die. This is a BIG flaw, because:
  24.
  25. 1: Cadence could take over, being the ruler of not only the crystal empire, but also the ruler of Equestria.
  26.
  27. And
  28.
  29. 2: Every single member of the main six is needed for the elements to work, meaning that, using Applejack's logic, none of them should go into the forest.
  30.
  31. Twilight and Spike go back to ponyville, talk with discord, and go back to the forest in about two minutes, which is WAY too quick. She gets attacked by the plants that find her attractive, and they spray her with gas to knock her out. As this happens, Spike finds the others, and they save the virgin from getting deflowered. They finally arrive at the tree of harmony, and Twilight convinces everyone to give up their elements, potentially endangering Equestria, but eliminating the plants that just wanted to have a good fuck in the process. Celestia and Luna are released from the plants, with no way for the viewer to know if they enjoyed/hated the private time that they had with the tentacles. Celestia congratulates Twilight, and when they go back to town, Discord reveals that he planted the seeds for the sex flowers right before he was defeated, though shows Twilight this through the cream-induced flashbacks. To end this episode, the Sun summer Celebration is celebrated, and Twilight does a Sparkleboom, using "magic".
  32.
  33. A flaw regarding the characters in the premier was flanderdization with Pinkie Pie. Flanderdizing a character is when only one trait is used to define them, and with that one trait being used to an extreme. Minus the first conversation with Discord and the part when everyone stupidly sends Twilight away, she is always portrayed as silly and random. In the episodes, she drools at the thought of surgery sweets for way too long, sends letters to Twilight while she is on the train, falls down the stairs(though this helps the group), and more.
  34.
  35. And why is it that the elements could turn Luna back to normal, but Celestia decides to use them to send her to the moon? This problem has existed for a while, so it won't actually hurt the rating to the two-parter.
  36.
  37. Also, why is it that Zeccora conveniently has a potion that only works with Alicorns? and why is it that she knows this fact? At worst/best, this is a pet-peeve, and shouldn't affect your view of the episode.
  38.
  39. ...
  40.
  41. I just realized that I never said any positives.
  42.
  43. Alright, the pacing for the first episode was decent, Discord's characterization was good, it did an alright job of feeling "epic", and it ends with proof that this story arc isn't over.
  44.
  45. Most scenes went by smoothing, with nothing taking too long/taking too little time, though the second episode suffers from examples such as the one posted above with Twi's friends forcing her out of the Everfree.
  46.
  47. Discord, thankfully, still had his chaotic personality, magically proofing up popcorn to watch the chaos unfold, and made fun of the girls repeatedly.
  48.
  49. The fights scenes were nice, and unlike Canterlot wedding, where nothing would've changed if they were removed, it had some purpose, as the plants were fought to keep Twilight pure after she got gassed.
  50.
  51. The ending has them finding a box with six keys, meaning that there will be more episodes regarding their quest for the keys.
  52.
  53. Overall, I give this a seven or eight of out ten, and I cautiously await the next episodes of the season.
