  1. Newcomer's Guide to GamerGate. The Leader of Gamergate
  2.
  3. Okay. Seems this is finally ready. Thanks to everyone who helped me through this.
  4.
  5. ABOUT GAMERGATE
  6.
  7. GamerGate in 60 seconds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipcWm4B3EU4
  8.
  9. GamerGate is a CONSUMER REVOLT born of the disillusionment in Gaming Journalism which proved to be corrupt and biased. A journalism that lies, actively offends their readers and stands unapologetic about their lack of ethics is no true journalism.
  10.
  11. >We need to go deeper!

  18.
  19. You might have heard wrong about us, you might think us some kind of monster but the truth is far from it. The corrupt media is against us, trying to silence us, and it's controlling the narrative to make us appear something we are not.
  20.
  21. Please, get to know us and our cause.
  22.
  23. CHEAT SHEET
  24.
  25. We are frequently raided and invaded by these kind of mis-informers so please watch out everyone:
  26.
  27. >Shill
  28. A shill, also called a plant or a stooge, is a person who publicly helps a person or organization without disclosing that they have a close relationship with the person or organization.
  29.
  30. You'll find this people trying to create infighting or posting inflammatory comments that would make GG look bad.
  31.
  32. Do not feel disheartened if you are called one at times. We are public and anonymous and we frequently infiltrated by this kind of people so we are a bit wary of any atypical behavior.
  33.
  34. >Bot
  35. An Internet bot, also known as web robot, WWW robot or simply bot, is a software application that runs automated tasks over the Internet.
  36.
  37. These usually post gibberish or nonsensical comments. They also post out of context stuff. Their objective is to derail/confuse/smear us.
  38.
  39. >Troll
  40. Third party people affiliated neither to GG or the opposition to sow discord just because.
  41.
  42. >The Who's
  43. These are the people that despite what the media and themselves would want you to believe, are not in any way a central point or even related to the core of our consumer's revolt.
  44.
  45. They crave attention either for profit or to further an agenda thus we don't call them by their name.
  46.
  47. LW1 = Z
  48. LW2 = A
  49. LW3 = B
  50.
  51. >Faggot, -fag
  52. Welcome to chan culture. These words are not meant as hateful slurs but a simple greeting. We are all faggots here :^)
  53.
  54. You get used to it eventually.
  55.
  56. >Wordfilters
  57. These are in-jokes. Once you've been around for a while you'll easily understand them.
  58. Hide expanded replies.
  59.
  60. SMEAR CAMPAIGN
  61.
  62. When we began to question, they coordinated a campaign to defame us and discredit our worries.
  63.
  64. Twelve articles were released within 24 hours decrying that we "Gamers" were dead or a similar message.
  65.
  66. _'Gamers' don't have to be your audience. 'Gamers' are over. Exclusive http://archive.today/l1kTW Leigh Alexander, Gamasutra.

  78.
  79. It came to light later that these people and sites were connected through a mailing list.

  85. http://jimromenesko.com/2014/10/17/gawker-memo-i-dont-want-to-tell-you-what-to-tweet-but/
  86.
  87. Very few news outlets have given us a voice or even touched fairly on the matter for most of the sites involved in the slandering of GamerGate are owned by a Gawker Media. Some other outlets have bought into their narrative completely without seeking to know our side of the story.
  88.
  89. >Wikipedia
  90. The Wikipedia article is biased against GamerGate thanks mainly to admins like Ryulong. He's dedicated himself to edit constantly the article, censor neutral sources and block people that ask for the other side of the story. This admin has a history of bad behavior and not only on GamerGate related articles.

  97. Please do not believe all of what Wikipedia tells you. Trust yourself and make your own research.
  98.
  99.
  100. HARASSMENT AND "DOXXING"
  101.
  102. GamerGate does not condone or support these actions in any way. We do not "Doxx" people. We are against harassment.
  103.
  104. We are, however, often subject to it:
  105.
  106. http://gamergateharassment.tumblr.com/
  107.
  108. The media, somehow, seems blind to it. GamerGate supporters have lost their jobs, their friends and more as a result of the smear campaign and the harassment from those who wish to silence us.
  109.
  110. #NOT YOUR SHIELD
  111.
  112. GamerGate supporters are said by the corrupt media to be all white heterosexual males and teenagers.
  113.
  114. Are we?

  119.
  120. FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT
  121.
  122. >The Fine Young Capitalists
  123. The Fine Young Capitalists is a campaign launched by Matthew Rappard to assist women game developers in creating video games to raise money for charity. Indie game developer Zoe Quinn attempted to sabotage the event. GamerGate supporters did not stand for this and donated to the campaign which resulted in the creation of Vivian James.

  128.
  129. >Gamerfruit
  130. Diceeurope was mistakenly attacked by a person who's been negatively engaging GamerGate. This resulted in the company, fruit exporters, showing support to GamerGate and plans for a game and a fund raiser.
  131.
  132. https://www.crowdrise.com/gamerfruit/fundraiser/loping
  133.
  134. >GitGud
  135. When people against GamerGate pressured GitHub and other places into deleting our evidence and censoring us, a GamerGate supporter stepped in and created a new repository.
  136.
  137. http://gitgud.net
  138.
  139. >Tweetsave
  140. As it happens to be, people opposing GamerGate try to cover up their tracks whenever they slip and their masks begin to crack. A GamerGate supporter created this add-on to prevent erasure of evidence on their part.

  144.
  145. We are not basement dwellers who do nothing all day, as the corrupted journalists would want you to believe. We make games, we make apps, we get work done.
