  2. Notes:
  3. 4)Test Strip placed in 15% glucose, 1% starch solution came out as brown (high glucose amount)
  4. Test strip placed in Water came out as light blue (no glucose)
  5. 5) Lugol's eyedropper (one squirt) turned the Water a brown-yellow color toward the sides of the beaker (indicates the presence of starch)
  6. 7) After 30 minutes, the 15% glucose, 1% starch solution in the dialysis tube changed to a dark brown color, indicating the presence of starch.
  7. 8) Test strip in the solution now tests as dark brown, indicating a high level of glucose.
  8. 9) The Water beaker, when tested with the test strip, now has a lighter shade of brown, indicating a moderate level of glucose. It has the same color, light brown.

  47. Plasmolysis
  48. Adding the 15% NaCl solution (salt water) causes the cells to undergo plasmolysis, in which the plant cell membrane shrinks away from its cell wall.
  49. Applying the pure water to the cells after undergoing plasmolysis allows it to revert to its original state.
