- Beach Braixen
- I sat in the car in the beach parking lot in my Hawaiian shirt and trunks. Braixen was in the back seat. She didn’t want to leave the car.
- “Aw, I can’t just leave you here. You’d dehydrate and I’d need to take you to the hospital.” I said.
- Braixen nervously quivered. She was deathly afraid of water. Ever since she was a baby she had been afraid. When she was a baby Fennekin I tried to get her to learn to use a toilet instead of the litter box, and she fell in. Worse still, she nearly drowned in the bathtub around the same time too. Now, even as a Braixen, she still had a crippling fear of water.
- “I’m not going to make you swim. I’d never do that. I just want to enjoy the sun while it’s still warm out.” I said.
- Summer was almost over and this was probably one of my last chances to enjoy it.
- I got out of the car and grabbed her by the hand.
- “Come on, Braixen, what if you just look at the beach?” I said.
- She held my hand tightly, and softly grunted. I nodded at her and she softly nodded back. Slowly, I led her out of the car down the small dirt path to the beach. She grew more and more nervous as we walked the path.
- “Do you need to close your eyes at first? It’s all right if you have to close your eyes.” I said, trying to sound understanding.
- Braixen nervously nodded and closed her eyes. I held her hand and led her forward. Soon, we both felt sand beneath our feet.
- “All right, Braixen, we’re here.” I said.
- Braixen opened her eyes and screamed. She pissed herself a tiny bit and jumped seeing the ocean in front of her like that. She breathed heavy.
- “Hey… Hey… It’s all right. I got you.” I said.
- She squeezed my hand even tighter now.
- We walked across the beach and chose a nice spot to set down my beach towel. Braixen had calmed down a bit by now. I threw off my shirt and sat down next to her. I squirted some lotion on my hands to rub on my body, and handed her the bottle.
- “Get my back, will ya?” I said.
- Braixen nervously started to apply some to my back. I could feel her arms shaking, her fingers quivering as she rubbed me. I did my best to ignore it, but it was too much.
- “Aw, Braixen, you’re being such a baby about this. I can understand being nervous at first, but we’ve been here for fifteen minutes now. And we’re nowhere near the water anyway. Get over it.” I said.
- Braixen squeaked at me like I was being an asshole to her.
- “I’m not being an ass, Braixen. I know you’re not a wussy, you’ve won me too many battles to be a wussy, but you’re really acting like one right now.” I said.
- I stroked the soft fur on her head.
- “Come on. You were brave when we beat that wild Trapinch last week, remember that? Can you be brave now?” I said.
- Braixen buried her face in my armpit and cried a little. I let out a disappointed grunt.
- “Ugh. Maybe I was wrong about you, you big baby.” I said.
- Braixen cried a little more. I was disgusted with her. She was my little warrior most of the time, but now I just wanted to enjoy the beach and she quivered and cried like a ninny. I sighed.
- “I shouldn’t have to deal with this.” I said.
- I laid back, put on my sunglasses, and looked around at some of the cute girls near the water. Those female swimmers had some nice tits, I’ll tell you what. I sat around for a while, and although she was still freaked out, Braixen gradually calmed down a bit. Eventually, I saw a cute girl near the water that I just had to talk to. Had an athlete’s physique, definitely my type, long black hair and a blue bikini. She was playing with her Shuckle at the edge of the sand. I stood up to walk over and Braixen tugged at my leg hair, trying to make me stay with her.
- “Ow, watch the leg hair, Braixen.” I said.
- Braixen fearfully squeaked at me.
- “I just want to talk to that hot chick with the Shuckle over there. I haven’t had a girlfriend in almost a year and it doesn’t hurt to try, you know?” I said.
- Braixen squeaked at me again, fear still in her voice. She clutched at my knee, trying desperately to keep me with her.
- “Oh, I knew you wouldn’t understand. Look, I’ll only be away for a few minutes. Stay calm and I’ll be right back with you.” I said.
- Braixen whined, but I pushed her off my leg and walked to the hot girl at the water’s edge.
- “Hey there, cool Shuckle.” I said.
- She giggled.
- “Shuckie’s a real sweetie. You train rock types too?” She asked.
- “Nah, I just have a Braixen. She’s back there, the poor girl’s deathly afraid of water.” I said.
- “Aw, that sucks. It’s really fun out here. She’s missing out.” The girl said.
- She sat down, using her Shuckle’s hard shell as a chair. Shuckle didn’t seem to mind.
- “My name’s Verity, by the way.” She said.
- “I’m Ronny. So, you come here often?” I asked.
- “Not really. I’m actually travelling, pokemon journey and all that, trying to specialize in rock types. I’m actually from Johto, and we only get gravel beaches over there… so this is the first time I’ve ever been to a nice beach.” Verity said.
- “Oh, cool. I don’t go on journeys much, I just hang around and enjoy life.” I said.
- “Ah, the easy life. Neat.” Verity said.
- I looked over and noticed Braixen edging closer to us.
- “Come on over, Braixen!” I called out.
- Braixen edged a tiny bit closer. I turned back to Verity.
- “So, what’s it like back in Johto?” I asked.
- “Ah, it’s nowheresville. Nothing cool like over here, just a bunch of hicks and some parks. I’m glad I left that place behind.” Verity said.
- “Aw, I always thought it sounded like a cool place to visit. Plenty of forests and old historical buildings to check out.” I said.
- Verity shrugged her shoulders.
- “I guess.” She said.
- I could tell talking about her home wasn’t working.
- “You do any fun stuff on your adventure?” I asked.
- “A little. Got to ride a jet once and I checked out the Cyllage gym.” Verity said.
- “Cool.” I said.
- I noticed Braixen was only a couple feet away from us now.
- “Hey, Braixen! You decided to come over. Great job!” I said.
- “Aw, she’s kinda cute, for a fire type.” Verity said.
- She stood up and walked over to Braixen to stroke her fur a little. Braixen was nervous and quivering, clearly scared out of her mind. That was when things got ugly. Verity’s Shuckle playfully smacked one of his tentacles into the water and sent a large splash at Braixen and Verity. Verity got most of it and laughed, but Braixen got a little bit on her foot and jumped backwards, screaming in terror. Verity was taken aback by this.
- “What the hell? What’s gotten into her?” Verity said.
- “Like I said, she’s afraid of water.” I said.
- An evil smile crossed Verity’s face.
- “Well, you know how you fix a fear problem, right? Desensitization!” She said, triumphantly.
- I looked at her like I was an idiot.
- “What… What’s that?” I said.
- “You desensitize her to water by overexposing her to it. Come on, let’s dunk Braixen!” Verity said.
- Braixen squealed when she heard this, but she was paralyzed with fear. I smiled. This was going to be fun. I grabbed Braixen by the arms and Verity grabbed her by the legs.
- “This is for your own good, Braixen!” I said.
- “Yeah, this is going to hurt us more than it hurts you!” Verity said, giggling.
- We took Braixen over the water and held her face down so she could see it. Braixen struggled and squealed, but we held her tight.
- “We got you tight, Braixen. All right. One… two… three!” I said.
- On ‘three’ we dunked Braixen in the water. She was only in there for less than a second but she screamed like it was torture.
- “See, water won’t hut you! Water’s fun! Just look at Shuckle.” Verity said.
- She turned Braixen to look at her shuckle happily playing and splashing about. Brixen sobbed and screamed.
- “Okay, let’s do it again. One… two… three!” I said.
- Again, we dunked Braixen. She screamed and cried and thrashed even more, but not as loudly or as violently as before.
- “See, this isn’t so bad?” I said.
- Braixen looked at me with tearful, pleading eyes. She squeaked at me, begging me to stop.
- “All right, how about we submerge your feet. Just make you stand in the water?” I said.
- Briaxen cried some more. Verity let go of Braixen’s feet and we slowly lowered her into the water. She struggled and squirmed.
- “That’s just the water. It’s nice and warm.” I said.
- Just then, we felt a fish swimming around us.
- “That’s just a Magikarp swishing around our ankles.” I said.
- Verity laughed, but Braixen continued to squirm and squeal.
- “Is it working? Do you still fear water?” Verity asked.
- Braixen shook her head and cried.
- “Oh, we’ll have to take drastic measures, then! Ronny, why don’t you toss her into the water?” She said.
- “Great idea!” I said.
- Braixen screamed and squirmed even more. Her wet face was full of tears. With a mighty push, I tossed her into the water. It wasn’t very deep; it only went to her waist, but she screamed and cried like she was dying.
- “Ah, shit. I don’t think it’s working.” Verity said.
- I sighed. I went over to my wet, sobbing Braixen and gave her a hug.
- “You’re not dying. It’s just water, all right?” you’re going to live.” I said.
- Braixen squeezed me and wouldn’t let go.
- “Aw, that’s so cute.” Verity said.
- Braixen tried to climb up my body to get out of the water. Despite our best efforts, desensitization was a failure.
- The end.
