  19. Introduction:
  20.  
  21. This document describes how to install BankID Security Application for Linux
  22. on Ubuntu 10.04. BankID Security Application is used to handle signing and
  23. authentication using smart cards and soft tokens.
  24.  
  25. Language support:

  27. The BankID Security Application graphical user interface supports English
  28. and Swedish.

  31. Pre-requisites
  32. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  34. Before you begin installing BankID for Linux please make sure
  35. that you have read the Release.txt.
  36.  
  37. BankID Security Application for Linux supports:
  38. * Ubuntu 10.04/GTK+
  39. * Ubuntu 9.10/GTK+
  40. * Ubuntu 8.04/GTK+
  41. * Firefox 3.6
  42.  
  43. Make sure that you have the following package:
  44.  
  45. * BISP-4.18.1.X.tar.gz
  46.

  48. Installation

  51. 1. Unzip the BankID Security Application tar.gz-fil to a directory that you
  52. have permission to access.
  53.  
  54. 2. Start a new terminal window and go to the folder that you just unzipped
  55. the BankID Security Application files to:
  56. > cd <path to BankID Security Application>
  57.  
  58. 3. To install BankID Security Application please write the following command:
  59. <path to BankID Security Application>$ > sudo ./install.4.18.1.X.sh i
  60.  
  61. 4. Now enter the password of the user account that you are using:
  62. [sudo] password for <user>: > ****
  63.  
  64. 5. The following message will be presented:
  65. Installing BankID Security Application
  66.  
  67. 6. When the installation completes the following message will be shown to
  68. the user:
  69. Installation complete.

  71. 7. To start the BankID Security Application GUI traverse to:
  72. Other > BankID Security Application in the Ubuntu Applications menu.

  74. 8. You can now start using the BankID Security Application.

  77. Un-installation

  80. 1. Write the following command to uninstall BankID Security Application for
  81. Linux:
  82. > sudo /usr/local/lib/personal/install.4.18.1.X.sh u

  84. 2. Now enter the password of the user account that you are using:
  85. [sudo] password for <user>: > ****
  86.  
  87. 3. The following message will be presented:
  88. Uninstalling BankID Security Application
  89.  
  90. 4. When the installation completes the following message will be shown to
  91. the user:
  92. Uninstallation complete.

  94. Manual unregistration of the PKCS11 module in Firefox:
  95.  
  96. 1. Open Edit/Preferences in Firefox
  97.  
  98. 2. Press tab Encryption
  99.  
  100. 3. Press button Security Devices
  101.  
  102. 4. Choose New PKCS#11 Module in the list
  103.  
  104. 5. Check that the path to the module is /usr/local/lib/personal/libP11.so
  105.  
  106. 6. Press button Unload
  107.
