time travel agony (what even was this?)

I heard the warped, echoing sounds of built up currents and charges coming from the void. I resisted the urge to burst out in tears. Considering the immense pain I felt during those few moments, I wondered if perhaps those noises were in fact the agonized screams of other time travelers trying even longer journeys.
