  1. Black Seven
  2. Welcome to the Watch, agent. As per prior arrangement, your previous identity is now internationally recognized as deceased. New identities will be provided as necessary. Any particular personal arrangements have, of course, been completed as specified. See your unit head for details. Do not be concerned for the how of all this, but the why.
  3.
  4. Carpe Noctem. Seize the Night. It is by that phrase that we...for lack of a better term, live by. The Watch is not our true name, for some things are better left secret. But it is sufficient nevertheless for we...Watch the things that go bump in the night. We learn from them, we collect off them. Sometimes we intervene in what they do. Often, we clean up after them. Sometimes we even save the world. Some reading this are no doubt stricken by disbelief, but others among you have no doubt experienced the supernatural already. Therianthropes, Draugr, chupacabra. All these things exist, hidden from the common mortal sight. And those who have heard our name fear us. Other than the ones whom work for us.
  5.
  6. We are not the government. God help the red tape saddled bastards who work for the UN. We are not, humorously named meetings aside, the Illuminati. And while we are a secret organization, we are not a part of a new world order or have plots for world domination. Some of you may have enlisted because we, truly, do good work. We keep this world safe and by dint of majority, humanity. Others may be in it for the money, in which case this is a very profitable field. Others perhaps, wish to become Immortal. In which case, some of our Posthuman members might oblige you. If you prove yourself.
  7.
  8. There are countless reasons to work for us. But this business is dangerous. It is bloody, and even our non-human agents are at deep risk, for the shadows you will delve into are full of superhuman killing machines, demigods ancient magic and more mundane horrors. Work smart, fight hard, and keep each other-and our superhuman members-covered, and you might get out alive. You are only mortal. But sheer firepower can, if nothing else, keep the foe distracted while the non-mortals close in for the kill.
  9.
  10. If you wish to renege on your contract, the door is still open. You will be allowed to begin a new, normal life. Or perhaps, not so normal if you so desire. We do have a retirement plan, after all, and it does not include a bottle of whiskey and a bullet.
  11. But if you wish to continue your contract...Then welcome to the Watch. Welcome to Seraphim Company. And welcome to squad Black Seven. Your foes will be many, powerful, and they will despise all you stand for. But if you survive, the Watch is never unfaithful and never unrewarding. And though you will face horrors aplenty, both of creatures beyond the mortal ken and those madmen and ignorant fools who would bring disaster upon our heads: you will teach them that they cannot escape the eyes of the Watch.
  12.
  13. Oderint Dum Metuant. Let them hate, as long as they fear.
  14. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
  15. Black Seven is a Military Urban Fantasy Horror/Action cooperative roleplay working on the ‘One Roll Engine’, set in a world not so dissimilar than our own other than the horrifying things lurking in the shadows...And a few effects they’ve had on history. The idea of the game itself was inspired by works such as Hellsing, or Underworld Awakening, where the story follows superhuman killing machines-and yet behind them follow teams of common mortal soldiers. Who, though they die in droves, put up a hell of a fight going down.
  16.
  17. The player characters in this are, more or less, those poor bloody mortals. And if you play smart, you might go on to be something quite a bit more impressive. This game is going to be gritty and difficult, and your foes are, more often than not, going to outmatch you badly. So, watch each other’s backs, fight smart and do whatever you need to survive.
  18.
  19. That said, this isn’t wholly combat. The Watch recruits everything from hardened special forces, to criminal hackers and idealistic police negotiators. There’ll be bloody and vicious combat. And there’ll be sneaking past cultists, investigating into strange murders, and negotiating with suspicious UN troops. Your background will need justification for why they’re involved in a ‘frontline’ squad, in whatever case, but don’t think you all have to be former special forces and you can safely dump all your points into combat skills.
  20.
  21. This is not first come first served, and knowledge of the One Roll Engine is not mandatory. In no small part because ALL THE ALTERNATE RULES.
