(Introduction) "Oh... you just moved in, huh? The road caves in for a week and it feels like I missed everything. Name's Zora, I guess."

"I know I live a little far out of the way, but it was... good for me. I tend to the bath house and part time at the little shop in the forest. It keeps me busy."

"I don't get a lot of people up this way. I'm glad to see someone taking advantage of my hard work."

"I grow a few odds and ends in my attic to sell at the forest shop. I hope you can get some use out of them."

"The mountain air really is good for clearing out the mind, huh."

(At 2+ Hearts) "Sometimes I head down to the shore to get supplies for chowder to bring to work. Nicole loves it, but I have to be careful because Elis is allergic to shellfish."

(At 2+ Hearts) "A geode tumbled off the mountain the other day and broke open. There were amethysts inside so I gave them to my girl Abi. Looked like she wanted to propose to me on the spot."

(At 4+ Hearts) "... It gets lonely sometimes. Besides you, unless I go to town, the most I see are the old adventurer's guild men and Linus."

(At 6+ Hearts) "The mountains are good for healing a broken heart. And the further I can be away from that Joja Mart, the better."

(Spring) "Ugh, finally, warmth. I can't deal with winter but spring is when the flowers start coming out. I like that."

(Summer) "Isn't it a beautiful day? The sun is shining, birds are singing, I can cook an egg on the train tracks."

(Fall) "The only bad thing about fall is winter comes after it. Are you looking forward to Spirit's Eve? I could help you with a costume."

(Winter) "It's so... barren. It's too quiet. It's cold. All I want to do is sleep."

(Special: After the Community Center is complete) "Good riddance to bad rubbish. If I never see that branding again it'll be too soon." [+10 friendship points]

Enter Zora's House after 4 PM on a Friday

The player catches Zora on the phone.

"I'm fine sister- no I don't need you to come here. I need to be alone. I love you too- yes I miss you too, this is for my mental health okay? I just need the space. Are you doing okay? ... I'm glad to hear it. Yeah, everything's been quiet. I'm happy to hear from you though. You know I'm good for that. ... I dunno, maybe I'll come up for the Feast of the Winter Star, we'll see. I know. Yeah I know. Love you too. Have a nice surgery."

When she hangs up and turns to see you, she jolts and falls to the floor. It seems she doesn't take being snuck up on very well. She explains that she was just taking a call from her sister, nothing important.

Enter the area by the train station any time after 3 PM during Summer

The farmer finds Zora behind her house, kneeling underneath an orange tree with a shrine placed underneath it. She has a basket of oranges next to her, and it looks like she's been crying. When approached, she jumps, clearly not expecting to have been seen here. "Oh, it's just you," she stammers out. "Oh, this? It's... personal." She pauses, and the camera pans up to the tree.

"My husband loved oranges." she says, "It only felt right to bury him under an orange tree. When I found out, I had already bought the sapling. We were going to plant it where we lived before. I came out here because I just couldn't handle the city life after that. It's helped, but... losing him still hurts."

The farmer sits with her as she tells them stories about him into the night, ending with her giving the farmer an orange from her tree, because her husband would want her to share. After the cutscene ends, the player will have an orange in their inventory.

Enter Pierre's on a Tuesday between 9 AM and 5 PM

The player enters the store just as Morris leaves from announcing another sale. As people follow him out of the store, the camera pans to Zora, standing near the back, behind a shelf, glaring from out of sight. The farmer spots her and approaches her, and she startles, backing up a little bit before taking a moment to calm herself. "It's- it's nothing," she stammers. "I have some personal baggage with Joja I'd rather not... talk about... I'm not wrong, right? What a bunch of creeps..."

- "They're gross! You're totally justified." (+10 friendship points)
"Yeah. Yeah you know what's up. Good stuff, my dude."
- "I dunno, their sales are good..."
"... I thought we were friends. I need to go." (-30 friendship points)

If the player answers yes, she tells them that the last thing her late husband did was try to buy out Joja, and it's been a sore point ever since. She asks the farmer if they can take her home, because she doesn't feel safe in town with Morris hanging around. When the cutscene ends, the player will be outside of her house in the mountains. If the player answers no, the cutscene ends early.
