>Ages 1-3
Born to hard working hobgoblin parents, the second of four children. At the time they were living is Isger.
>Ages 4-9
Fleeing religious persecution Kurat's parents took their children to the nation of Molthune. During this time Kurat's father, Oktar served in the Molthuni military to ensure his citizenship while their mother raised the children. Kurat does not know much of what his father's service was like, only that it in some way was secretive to a point that he was sworn to not speak of it.
>Ages 9-14
Kurat's father returned, and during this time began the children's training for war. Oktar, using his new found citizenship, moved the family to Eranmas. Oktar conducted the children's training in a traditional hobgoblin manner. Kurat's mother during this time left for military service to ensure her citizenship. She served as a battlefield surgeon and medic. Kurat's elder brother Kakler left to serve when Kurat was 12, and died one year into his service. Kurat during this time does not remember much of his childhood friends, as he was generally ostracized for being a hobgoblin. One of the few friends he remember was a halfling boy named Boram and twin girls names Marra and Rilka. All these were servants to a wealthy imperial merchant. Kurat convinced the three of them to enlist with him in an attempt free themselves from servitude through the legal system. He held ambitions of riches and power during this time.
>Ages 14-17
Kurat enlisted and was employed as a messenger and transcriber for his literacy and general talent for both hiding and quick tongue. He would relay messages between soldiers in Nirmathas disguised as citizens/bandits/etc. and command back in Molthune. During this time Kurat's younger brother enlisted. Boram, Marra, and Rilka, who enlisted alongside Kurat, were used by the Molthuni military for their ability to disguise as human children. This allowed them to access areas and relay messages other could not. In the same way Kurat often pretended to be a leper. The four of them kept in contact during this time. Toward the end of his service as a messenger Rilka died when she was discovered and killed by agents in Nirmathas. Morra, Boram and Kurat mourned over her. Kurat promised Morra to ensure those who killed Rilka would die.
>Ages 17-21
Kurat spent this time as what was called an agitator. He would be disguised as a bandit, citizen, or otherwise in Nirmathas and cause general strife. This was  a bloody and generally not sought after job as occasionally involved killing civilians. Both he and Boram volunteered for this for the purpose of finding those who had killed Rilka. This eventually lead to a bloody series of guerrilla tactic assaults on small groups of Nirmathas military, using the disorganized nature of their military against them. This lead the two friends to the group that had killed Rilka, while several members died the two were disappointed that they did not even remember the halfling girl, and that the commander at the time had been promoted. During this time both Boram and Kurat distinguished themselves as both resourceful and hardy. Their talents were noticed and they were sent back to Molthune.
>Ages 21-23
Kurat and Boram spent two painful years being educated in the arts of espionage. Lying, forgery, disguise, stealth, and combat. This was at an academy in rural Molthune, hidden away from the majority of the nation. Their instructor was a middle aged elven man named Meirdrarel who had lived in the region since before Molthune's incorporation into Cheliax. The two of them were molded into a agents of Molthune alongside several others. Though they started with thirty prospective agents only seven graduated. Kurat, Boram, two human men Nonek and Toan, a human woman Pasara, a bloodmarked Skinwalker woman Velgath, and a half-elven woman Jailin. During this time Kurat met Sena, a hobgoblin slave who worked for the agency. He found himself holding a good deal of affection for her and eventually convinced his instructor to allow him to purchase her. This was a hard won victory as Meirdrarel used Sena's safety and purchasing as a motivational tool against Kurat, due to his misgivings as to the attachment to her. During this time he also had his first child. While he was here his sister immigrated out of the country to Magnimar, rather than serve in the military.
>Ages 23-34
Kurat for more than a decade lives in Nirmathas. The members of the graduating class beneath Meirdrarel were sent with him. Kurat and Boram still sought the death of the enemy commander, Morra has since left the military for a quiet life as a citizen. Kurat and Velgath grew close to one another during this time, the two of them participating in numerous espionage missions in Tamran. Nonek and Toan as well lived near Kurat disguised as brothers, entertainers come down from the north seeking their fortune. During this time he met a hobgoblin woman living there, fell in love, and married her. What transpired from here is what he now realized was a lapse in judgement. While it presented an excellent cover for him, it constituted a conflict of interests. He had two children with the woman, who he raised there. Kurat would often leave for extended periods of time under the guise of a merchant monitoring caravan routes in the bladeworn vale heading to Korvosa. In reality he would return to Molthune and give reports. During this time he had two more children with his slave. Toward the end of this his wife grew sick and passed away.
>Ages 34-35
Under the guise of grief the persona of Kurat the Merchant became a recluse, and during this time he also took on the persona of the Strangler of Tamran. His two young children, now ages 10 and 9 were taken to Korvosa under the guise of being fostered with family, then teleported to Molthune to be raised by his slave. As the Stranger of Tamran he ran a terrorist cell of Molthune agents, having become essentially the leader of his graduating class, with the purpose of inciting armed rebellion and fishing information on groups supporting Nirmathas. In the end this bore fruit when Kurat during a riot in Tamran managed to secure archived correspondence between the Forest Marshal and the Steel Falcons, as well as smoke out several informants of the Greenglade. What had been discovered in channels of information leaking Moltuni military secrets to the enemy, seemingly through the Steel Falcons. He returned to Molthune honored.
>Ages 35-45
Kurat, to the world's knowledge, had been serving in the Molthuni army. He returned and was honored with knighthood for excellence above and beyond the call of duty, when in reality it was a gift for his information gathering in Nirmathas. As reward for his service he was allowed to chase the secrets he had found to Almas, and became one of the under diplomats to Andoran from Molthune. His goal there was attempt to unravel the extent of the connection between the Steel Falcons and Nirmathas, as well as anything to attempt to stop this relationship. Despite this Kurat was called back to Molthune multiple times to participate in operations both domestic and abroad. Boram during the time climbed ranks in his own organization. During this time Kurat fell out of touch with Velgath, who had been sent off to the north, to his knowledge. One of the few times they contacted one another was when she dumped a child on Kurat unexpectedly, telling him it was his. Part way into his stay in Almas Pasara, his rival from their days at the academy, was sent to the embassy as well. The two of them participated in a heated rivalry there as well. During this time he met a human woman in Almas who he convinced to come to work in the embassy. Over the course of a decade they sired two children. As well in Molthune Kurat sired two more with the his slave. During this time his father had a heart attack during church, and passed. Kurat was shaken by this, but not overly so. As well Kurat's children were beginning to grow. His first child nearing the age of military service. He returned to Molthune periodically to oversee their education. Due to a series of power grabs and inter agency politics Kurat rose in the ranks after exposing the current chief ambassador's illegal misdealing, and selling of Molthuni secrets to the Steel Falcons.
>Ages 45-51
For his long service Kurat was raised to Chief Ambassador, and much to her anger Kurat named Pasara his second in command. Despite a decade of service integrating agents into Almas, including Toan & Nonek (now a distinguished musical duo in the region) he had not yet discovered a way to unravel the connections between the Steel Falcons and Nirmathas, as the Chief Diplomat's dealings could not account for all the information. Though he had managed to find blackmail information on some members it was nothing high enough on the ladder to put a boot against their work. In this time as well Kurat, as chief diplomat, became more integrated with the Molthuni command, and held numerous secrets on their dealings both legal and not in Andoran. During this time he married his second wife, the daughter of a wealthy Molthuni merchant, and through his discovered a web of corruption and lies. Connections, through his wife's father, revealed themselves. This entire time he had been looking in the wrong place, and found that the corruption lay at home. Those who had been selling their secrets were not spies among their ranks, but traitors. The Steel Falcons knew their logistics due to others like the chief diplomat. Kurat assembled a list and set about his work, contacting old friends and his old instructor, to find those he could trust.
>Age 51-52
Returning home, now old, he realized that this corruption was too deep to route out on his own. He was too old to do it himself. Pulling in as many connection as he could, selling a few secrets, and pushing favors, he managed to receive enough land and money to begin his own academy as a successor to his instructor's. The true purpose is to train a new generation of spies to cut out the cyst plaguing Molthune from within.
