  3. Matoi: Yah! Hah! Haaaah!
  4. Tsubaki: Nice nice. Well done.
  5. Matoi: D-dad!?
  6. Tsubaki: No matter how many times I see you train you're perfect. The angle of your arm, your form when preparing your lance, every aspect is as pretty as a picture.
  7. Matoi: Gah! Don't tease me! I'm still far off from being perfect... I know that better than anyone.
  8. Tsubaki: I'm not teasing you at all. That's really what I think.
  9. Matoi: That's just because I'm your daughter.
  10. Tsubaki: Are you implying I'm a doting parent? But I can't help it- having a daughter as adorable as you.
  11. Matoi: Geez... dad...
  12. Tsubaki: By the way, aren't you going to keep practicing? I want to watch some more of your ingenious lance work.
  13. Matoi: If you tell me that it'll be hard to do it in front of you.
  14. Tsubaki: Oh you're being modest-. You'd still pull it off perfectly. Although I'm scared to see my own daughter's great talent, I'm looking forward to it.
  15. Matoi: !! L-looking forward to it? From me? I understand... After hearing you say that, I have no choice but to do my best. Here I go...! Eih! Yah! Hiyaaaaah!
  16.
  17. Tsubaki: Yep. She really is perfect.

  23. Matoi: Um, dad...
  24. Tsubaki: Matoi, what's the matter?
  25. Matoi: Would you... come help me practice, I wonder.
  26. Tsubaki: Practice? You mean with your fighting?
  27. Matoi: Yes. I want to be able to fight perfectly like you, dad.
  28. Tsubaki: Ahaha. Being recognized by my own daughter- I'm honored. I'd gladly help with your practice.
  29. Matoi: Really!? Thank you, dad!
  30. Tsubaki: Well then, let's get to it. As the saying goes, strike while the iron is hot-
  31. Matoi: Yes! Please guide me!
  32.
  33. Matoi: Ha... haa... How is it- my fighting...?
  34. Tsubaki: Personally, I'd say you're already flawless.
  35. Matoi: Really!?
  36. Tsubaki: Really. The way you handle your lance is something no one else could imitate. To think you'd have your own unique technique already, it's really wonderful. Yes yes, you were just as stunning as usual.
  37. Matoi: As usual...? You mean I haven't changed from before the start of practice?
  38. Tsubaki: Well, yes. But... even for you, improving from a short training session like this is impossible.
  39. Matoi: That's no good! I need to get closer and closer to perfection!
  40. Tsubaki: I don't know what to say to that. From the start I hadn't even seen any faults in your technique.
  41. Matoi: Uuuu... you really are too much of a doting parent... ahhh this is no good... I can't rely on dad for this...

  48. Matoi: Ha... hah... I'm not improving much am I...
  49. Tsubaki: You look like you're working hard- Matoi.
  50. Matoi: Dad... ugh, I'm not trusting your opinion again ok. I have to do my best myself.
  51. Tsubaki: Huh-? Don't say that- you'll hurt your dad's feelings.
  52. Matoi: But you're too sweet to me dad. Even if my lance thrusts are sloppy, or my rushes are weak, or even if I were to fall in practice, you'd praise me and accept it... At that rate I'll never reach perfection.
  53. Tsubaki: .........Hey, Matoi. Who are you trying to become perfect for?
  54. Matoi: Huh...?
  55. Tsubaki: Once you perfect your technique, who do you want to show it to?
  56. Matoi: That's... well it's you I guess. The reason I'm training is because I want you to be happy with me.
  57. Tsubaki: If that's the case, then you're fine the way you are now. I like your technique. Your posture, the strength of your gaze, even your habit of getting distracted worrying about your hair... I think your current, natural form is very lovely. It has more value to me than any "perfect" style.
  58. Matoi: B-but... I...
  59. Tsubaki: You're always saying you want to become perfect but... Even if you aren't. Even if you have flaws. That's absolutely fine.
  60. Matoi: Dad...
  61. Tsubaki: Should the day ever come where you want to be recognized by someone other than your dad, you can do your best to make them happy then. If you're always trying to achieve perfection for someone, it's suffocating. I don't want you to feel that way, Matoi.
  62. Matoi: .........Do you have times where you have trouble being perfect, dad?
  63. Tsubaki: Hmm, I wonder-. Maybe I do-.
  64. Matoi: ...Then you don't have to be. Not in front of me. Whether you're perfect... or whether you're not... I love everything about you.
  65. Tsubaki: Matoi... Yeah, thank you. But that's how I feel about you too, you know.
  66. Matoi: I see... Thanks dad. Alright, I'll end practice at that for today. Do you want to go out to eat together dad? There's this store I know of that's a little shabby, but the food there is really delicious.
  67. Tsubaki: Sounds good. Let's go. No matter the place, we'll have ourselves a perfectly good time!
  68. Matoi: Oh dad... Today is a break from being perfect!
  69. Tsubaki: Hahaha, yes ma'am.
