Isle Del Sol Session III

[15:31] <%Somber> The friends had gotten their first day at Costa Del Sol.  They'd discovered some money... and gotten a shower of rotten body parts... in a body and come to the settlement of Costa Del Sol.  Even on the other side of the world, even with all the green, it was clear that the wasteland was still the wasteland, no matter how pretty it might seem at first.  The
[15:33] * Aria is now known as Calamine
[15:33] <%Somber> poor little town did have a tavern and rooms for 'rent', hourly and nightly.  When the subject of work for quick money came up, Consuela the Griffon said there were a number of ponies all across town who needed a few quick chores done and if the others were willing, they could earn some buttons.
[15:36] <%Somber> The six friends had an opportunity for a fresh night's sleep, and got to listen to the waves rolling in off the shore.  Oddly enough, the bearded zebra with the long spear didn't retire like the rest of the town when things got late.  He patrolled back and forth as if waiting for trouble.  When the sun fell, everyone came in from the farms and fields, and the
[15:36] <%Somber> town livened up a bit, with some music and wan lights strung across the town square providing feeble illumination.
[15:40] * Candlelight_Sonata decides that Calamine is old enough to handle herself with Strifer, and makes her way out to the beach.  The beautiful moon enraptures her for a good while as she listens to the soft pounding of the surf.
[15:40] * Sedgewick spends some time in the darkening evening watching the waves wash in and out of the beach. He's never seen real ocean before, and it's hypnotizing.
[15:40] * Lazer_Blazer ears perk up to the sound music as she trots out into the night "So would anyone like see the night life here?"
[15:42] * Calamine felt refreshed after a bath and impromtu massage from Strifer. After drying herself off, she proceeded to take a basin and wash her armor and clothes before she would wear them again. "Would anyone like me to wash their clothes for them?" she asked.
[15:42] <%Somber> As she and Sedgewick moongaze, the huge zebra says in a low, deep voice. "Don't fly out over the sea, daughter of night. The sea wall is perilous, even to flyers." He doesn't take his hard eyes off the waves.
[15:42] * Naphthalena is only a little dragon, and by the time the sun had set it was more than late enough for her to sleep. She found her way to the nearest rented bed and passed out in moments.
[15:44] <%Somber> The party in the square made certain things hugely apparent... there was a huge, diverse population here.  Not just ponies, like out in the wasteland, but goats, mules, donkeys, griffons, and other creatures even more exotic and strange.  Zebras and ponies together were a minority majority, and here, stripes or colors simply didn't seem to matter.  They also
[15:45] * Sedgewick sits like a great cat, reflected moonlight glinting off his eyes. "It's peaceful out here. The ocean is much calmer than the jungle. Great power, even more than the jungle, but... quiet. Dreaming."
[15:45] <%Somber> spoke a great multitude of languages, at least three or four, with improptu translation going on all the time.

[15:45] * Lazer_Blazer see's the two head off to the beach, then turns to Calamine "You know what let give you a hoof with that. Then we both can see what fun here."
[15:45] <%Somber> "Yes.  But do not mistake it for good.  The sea is one of the great beasts.  It is best when it slumbers." the zebra replies.
[15:46] * Candlelight_Sonata looks over to Sedgewick.  "They say the sea is cold, but the sea contains the hottest blood of all."  She nods her thanks to the zebra.  "Thank you sir, for the warning.  I'll keep my admiring of the moon to the sand."
[15:47] <%Somber> "Good."  He gave a little nod.  "You are strangers here."  He murmured, running a hoof through his beard.
[15:47] * Calamine smiles. "That sounds lovely. Thank you, Miss Lazer_Blazer."
[15:48] * Sedgewick nods. "We got here without crossing the ocean. Don't ask me how, I don't know. One second we were where we were, and then the next second we were all in one room, here on this island." He lets the rushing sound of waves fill the air. "I guess it must be pretty bad on this island when the ocean rages. Was the jungle always this angry?"
[15:48] * Pony_38906 ([email protected]) Quit ( Quit: If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you )
[15:50] * Candlelight_Sonata smiles brightly to herself, her unequine canine fangs showing through the smile.  "All of us are strangers to this place at some time or another."  Her ears skew at Sedgewick's question.  "You've... never been near the sea, Mr. Sedgewick?"

[15:50] <%Somber> "Not so bad.  Long ago, the isle of the sun was a paradise.  There are no paradises any longer.  The zebra targeted the pony plantations and resorts... and the ponies targeted zebra communities.  The anger has festered ever since."
[15:51] * Pantzar_ is now known as Strifer
[15:52] * Sedgewick shakes his head at Candlelight_Sonata's question. He hasn't stopped gazing out to sea, not even for conversation. "There's... I think I see a boat out there."
[15:53] <%Somber> "Mmm... One of Bloodtide's," the zebra replied.  "He always has a ship or two patrolling... seeking a gap in the sea wall."
[15:54] * Candlelight_Sonata smirks.  "Fascinating how privateers and pirates always come up with the most violent sounding names."
[15:55] * Lazer_Blazer helps Calamine clean the gear that was left at the bath house "We'll get this all done up quick, then pant the town red. I'm likeing the sound of that band out there."
[15:55] * Calamine blinks. "Why would we paint the town? I mean, I guess it would be nice to add more color to the buildings, but red does not seem a good fit."
[15:56] <%Somber> The zebra didn't reply.  "It suits violent creatures like Admiral Bloodtide.  That ghoul's been trying to take the island for fifty years or more.  Only the sea wall keeps them at bay."
[15:56] <%Somber> didn't smile*
[15:58] * Sedgewick "Where does he find sailors then?"
[16:01] <%Somber> "The desperate.  The bloody.  The insane.  The captured.  She has ways of using taint, radiation, and dark magic to twist and bend their forms.  If she ever took the island, it would be a potent base from which she could menace the seas for decades, or longer."
[16:02] * Lazer_Blazer gives the zebra laugh "No, no. It's well and old saying. That means go out and have fun, see the place, dance and party. But your right this place could go for some more color." as she smiles, swishing her pastel rainbow colored tail to the bet of the music
[16:05] * Calamine smiles. "Oh! Then let us get the red paint," she says after hanging up the last of the clothes and armor.
[16:05] <%Somber> Calamine, when she and Lazer join the party, meets a comely zebra girl that seems very interested in Calamine.  She keeps on winking and smiling and bumping flanks.  She says her name is Seabreeze and she seemed quite fond and interested in the young mare.
[16:05] * Candlelight_Sonata listens intently whilst looking at the moon.  "Pity the war took many of the great pirate hunters.  Back home, we have legends of an island off the coast known as Arcadia's Watch where a ship commanded by a unicorn with power over the tides lived.  Nopony knew her name, but called her the Corsair."  She shakes her head sadly.  "Could use mares like that these days."
[16:05] * Strifer finds herself outside,  strolling through the small town the bath had been pretty alright all things considered, sure as hay better then having ones coat being all sticky with blood thats for sure. Finding someplace alone she sits down and digs through her saddlebags muttering. "Where did I put.. Ah." Pulling out a inhaler of dash, grinning madly. She takes it to her lips, bites down and inhales deeply. Lets get this show
[16:07] <%Somber> "Indeed.  There are none like that on the islands today," the zebra stallion said grimly.  "The baron could fight her off, but he contends with the colonel.  The colonel could defeat her, but he focuses on the baron.  And every other month, a new boat circles the island looking for a weak point."
[16:07] * Sedgewick snarls quietly to himself. "I wish the fury of the sea on her and anyone who helps her."
[16:07] * Calamine laughs and dances along. Figuring bumping flanks was a dance style here, she bumps flanks with Seabreeze and Lazer_Blazer as she dances. "This music is delightful!"
[16:08] * Candlelight_Sonata shoots Sedgewick a sharp look.  "I do not think you know what you ask when you say that, Sedgewick."
[16:08] <%Somber> "She's survived the sea's fury and worse.  She has two centuries of experience.  Some day, I hope, that dark unicorn will meet her end." he said grimly.
[16:09] <%Somber> Sea Breeze laughed and purred, nuzzling her neck.  "You are adorable."
[16:10] * Strifer wobbles to the side as she holds the breath, her pupils dialating untill they are abnormally huge, everything felt so good, oh godesses yes.. With a cocky grin she stands up, tossing the inhaler to the side she starts to make her way towards the party. Flicking her tail back and forth.
[16:11] * Sedgewick does not dignify Candlelight_Sonata's careless response by meeting her eyes before he dismisses it. Instead he watches the ship on the sea. "I can hear the ocean, and I can hear the jungle, and I know what I'm saying when I say that I wish the ocean's fury on Bloodtide."
[16:11] * Lazer_Blazer dances with the two, smile from ear to ear "I think that one wants to get under your tail." she tells Calamine with a bit to much merth
[16:12] <%Somber> Sea breeze, the zebra with the aquamarine stripes, went to go get a drink, winking back at Calamine and giving the young mare quite a view as she trotted to the trough.
[16:12] * Calamine blinks. "My tail? But Seabreeze is a mare," she says, confused, before the wheels start to turn and her eyes go wide. "Is this like the ponies and zebra thing?"
[16:13] * Strifer smirks as she spots three other outsiders on teh way to the main party ground, with a huge grin on her face she trots up to the three, aproaching them directly. "So.. I can't help but notice that you're not having fun.. Huh?." LEaning her head to her side she gigglesnorts as she looks at them. "You sure look like you can fucking use some."
[16:14] * Candlelight_Sonata sits quietly as she listens to Sedgewick's words.  "I misjudged you, Sedgewick.  Didn't mean that as an offense.  Just knew you hadn't seen what a doomwhale can do, or how a hurricane can wrend a coaster asunder.  But you also can see things and here things I can't."
[16:14] * Lazer_Blazer laughs a bit to loud "Why are you asking me, you'er both zebras."
[16:15] <%Somber> The trio look at Strifer and immediately the two ponies look at each other and turn, leaving the party.  the old zebra blacksmith looks sourly at Strifer.  "You should talk to your friends.  A change is coming to these islands.  Those who support it will be well rewarded."
[16:15] * Sedgewick "All of those things sound really bad. I hope they all happen to Bloodtide."
[16:16] * Calamine looks even more nervous. "I mean can mares even do that? How would that even work?" her eyes dart to the zebra mare and swallows hard. "I admit she is pretty, but..."
[16:16] * Candlelight_Sonata looks at the griffon, hoping to meet his eyes.  "You've got a thing for folks don't do right by others, don't you?"
[16:17] * Sedgewick is looking out over the water again, and does not respond.
[16:18] <%Somber> Seabreeze returns with a cup balanced carefully on her head.  She leaned in and gave her a nuzzle, somehow not spilling a drop, and then passed her the cup of punch, her eyes looking into Calamine's in a very... much more than friends type look.
[16:18] * Strifer snorts, dropping her grin. What the hell was wrong with these people. "Oh yeah, can you fucking be more cryptic or what?" She flicks her tail back and forth. "What the hell where you talking about?" She says, nodding her head towards the two who just left.
[16:19] * Candlelight_Sonata turns away and looks up at the moon.  "Just meant to say it's right kindly trait to have."
[16:20] * Calamine looks down at the drink. "Oh, um, thank you. I am a bit thirsty," she says, taking the drink gratefully and taking a sip.
[16:20] <%Somber> "We're talking about purging the murdering and corrupt power that is the Baron and his men.  When they are gone, the Colonel will establish a rule that is fair, honest, and supports the people rather than the self imposed leader." the blacksmith aid to strifer.
[16:20] * Lazer_Blazer puts a foreleg over Calamine shoulder "Let me try to... well you see two mares can make each other very happy. And it feels nice. But if thats not your thing just let her know. That way she would not feel like you'er pulling her a long."
[16:21] <%Somber> She nods and as she takes a drink.  "I have a cottage on the beach.  The one with the shell decorations on the door.  If you like, come and see me there soon."  And as she walked past Calamine, her tail stroked up and brushed up between her legs before the aquamarine striped mare trotted away from the party.
[16:23] * Calamine looks to Lazer_Blazer, wide eyed. "What do I do? I've spent my whole life with other mare shamans. My grandfather was the only stallion I've ever known."
[16:23] * Lazer_Blazer then looks over to Seabreeze as she trots off "If thats not you bag. I hope you don't mind me playing rebound off that." she tells Calamine
[16:24] <%Somber> "Be careful" the bearded zebra with the long spear said to sedgewick.  "Hatred of evil can become evil in and of itself.  By all accounts, Bloodtide was a noble and dutiful soldier of the equestria navy... once..."
[16:24] * Strifer holds up a hoof. "Uh-huh..  You know what, fuck it, I don't care anymore." With that she turns around and makes her way into the party zone instead.
[16:25] * Sedgewick nods. "I will. But just wishing something doesn't make it so, or so my Ma used to tell me."
[16:25] * Calamine looks around. "I don't know what to do. She's pretty and seems nice, but... Maybe I should ask the spirits for help? That's one part of my shamanistic journey. Find myself, experience new things, and commune with the spirits of harmony."
[16:28] * Strifer jumps ontop of a box or something similar to make herself stick out from the crowd. "OKAY! OKAY! OKAY! Chaaallenge! Chaaallenge! Chaaallenge! Bring on your caps, buttons, whatever the fuck its called. I challenge anypony here  to a duel, hoof to hoof to whenever one has given up. 50 Buttons to join! Anypony?! Cmon ye fuckers!"
[16:29] * Calamine notices a few spirits of harmony off to the side and looks to Lazer_Blazer. "I'll be right back. I'll let you know if you can rebound or not, whatever that means."
[16:29] * Lazer_Blazer turns back to Calamine "I would hope the spirits of harmony understand, this could be very...." as the sound of yelling cuts here off "What the hay is she up to?"
[16:29] <%Somber> Well now!  That got a reaction!  Soon there were more and more young bucks eager for a quick buck.  Of course, none of them HAD 50 buttons... but five buttons... sure.  The farmhooves could manage that!
[16:31] * Strifer eyes the crowd with a earsplitting grin. "PFAH! 5 Buttons?! Fine, WHATEVER! I'll take all your money! Bring it on! YOu there, you're up!" She says, pointing at someone in  the back.
[16:31] * Calamine trots off to a quieter corner and sits down, her back legs crossed as she closes her eyes. "I know you are trying to help harmony grow here, but I am very confused. I need guidance. Please, spirits of harmony, can you give me you words of wisdom?" she thinks before clearing her mind to accept the spirits' advice.
[16:35] <%Somber> They start lining up, eager to fight for some money.
[16:35] * Calamine sighs, now even more confused than before. Maybe she just needed to talk to Seabreeze first. She didn't want to turn her away and hurt another because she was confused and maybe if they talked she might learn something.
[16:37] * Lazer_Blazer sighs as the town folk line up to have a go at Strifer "Well atlest their in to it." turning to the beach looking for the two fliers
[16:38] <%Somber> When the brawl is over, Strifer only have five caps to show for it.
[16:41] * Candlelight_Sonata looks up to see Lazer Blazer approaching.  "Evenin' Miss Blazer.  How goes the party?"
[16:41] * Strifer pants heavily, whew that was fantastic. "Aaaaww yeah! Fuck yeah! We should do this everynight!" She shouts grinning at the audience. Flicking the five (!) buttons into her bags. "Now time to get wasted, feel free to join!" She cackles as she bounces away towards the Tavern in the middle of town. Riding her high to the fullest.
[16:41] * Sedgewick is meditating quietly on the waves, and does not look up.
[16:42] <%Somber> Well, she was crazy, but she could fight and she wasn't a bad sport about losing.  The farm hands seem quite happy to join her, spending the coin they won for more drinks.
[16:43] * Strifer spends and drinks excessively, even buying a few for the farm hands with the goal to get as many of them into bed with her tonight.
[16:44] * Lazer_Blazer waves to Candlelight_Sonata as she torts over to the two "Well our shy zebra friend may have found somepony or more like somepony found her. And that Strifer is getting her flank kicked in for bottons. So hows it out here fells nice." as she draws in the sea air
[16:45] * Sedgewick "It's very nice. But with the sun down, it's going to cool off out here very quickly. Shall I make a campfire? Or is this a bad idea?" The last question is directed at the zebra guardian out on the beach with them.
[16:45] * Candlelight_Sonata blinks and looks increadibly concerned.  "Uh... I.. uh..."  She shakes her head and coughs.  "I mean, do you think Callie will be alright?  She sorta reads like the sort who ain't exactly had experience in relations with... well anypony."
[16:48] <%Somber> Calamine went into a little cottage down by the beach.
[16:49] * Lazer_Blazer nods "Well it did take me telling her that the mare was trying to get under her tail. And last I seen of her, she was doing that talking to the spirits thing."
[16:50] * Candlelight_Sonata manages to look more concerned for a moment before taking a breath.  "She's all grown up, and hopefully knows what she's getting herself into."  She trails off, muttering something about never having time for such shennaningans with the younger ones around.
[16:56] <%Somber> The next morning, the friends meet in Sex on the Beach.  Naphthalene was most rested, clearly.  Sedgewick and Candle and Lazer hadn't done anything crazy either.  when Strifer emerged, she was followed by three stallions who were worried they might lose their jobs on the farm.  She reeked of stallion... make that multiple stallions.  Last to join everyone was
[16:58] <%Somber> Calamine.  She trotted down the beech to the bar in the company of a very pretty zebra mare with aquamarine stripes.  When they parted, she kissed Calamine a little more firmly and ardently than normally allowed in public.  As much as Strifer reeked of stallion, Calamine smelled of mare... the zebraess apparently had quite a long night.
[16:59] * Sedgewick regards Strifer and Calamine owlishly. Well, griffinishly, anyways. "Had a fun night?"
[16:59] * Lazer_Blazer smiles as Calamine "Look like you did well for yourself. So your first time as good as yould hope?"
[16:59] * Calamine blushes after Seabreeze kisses her and then joins the others. At Sedgewick's questioning, Callie turns a deep scarlet and her eyes go wide. "Is it another custom to discuss things? I..."
[17:00] * Naphthalena yawned quietly, covering it with a clawed hand. She still looked more tired than you'd expect. But then, she was little, and probably needed sleep more than most.
[17:00] * Candlelight_Sonata smiles to Naphthalena.  "Morning Naph.  Sleep well?"
[17:01] * Sedgewick shakes his head and grins with his eyes (beaks are hard to grin with). "No, no. It's fine. Consenting adults and all that."
[17:01] * Naphthalena looks up towards Candlelight_Sonata, before mumbling something noncommental, which sounded like it might have been 'yes', but it was hard to tell.
[17:01] * Strifer gives the last stallion to leave a firm smack on the cutiemark, giving a grin. "Oh yeah, you have -no- idea. The way that zebra could use his p- Eh, Im kidding, kidding!" She snickersnorts which develops into a deep yawn.
[17:02] * Candlelight_Sonata smiles down at the dragon before turning bright red at Strifer's comments.
[17:03] * Lazer_Blazer sips some tea "Well you don't have to tell us if you don't feel like it." she tells Calamine
[17:03] * Strifer rumages through her saddlebags and finds some Pre War Food and Dirty water to munch on. Munch munch munch. Radiation. Mmmm~
[17:03] * Calamine nods and looks down at the bar. "Thank you. But I will say, Seabreeze is very kind and very nice. I like her."
[17:05] * Candlelight_Sonata appears to get over her embarrassment and finally speaks.  "So today we're to find work?  Try a hoof at helping folks around town?"
[17:06] * Lazer_Blazer nods "Thats nice to hear. To bad I missed out on it, not like she was looking at me or any thing." looking over the tea cup with her pink eyes at the sea
[17:06] <%Somber> Consuela walks up, the pretty macaw griffon looking a bit tired as well.  "I talked to folks around town and got a list of work people need.  The jobs are fairly simple; nothing that would put you in danger.  Mostly little things that need doing but no one has had the time or skills to try.
[17:06] * Naphthalena watches and listens to the others quietly for the moment. She didn't seem to really 'get' the discussion going on.
[17:07] * Candlelight_Sonata smiles to Consuela.  "We'd love to hear what needs done."
[17:08] * Strifer rocks back and forth, tail flicking. As Consuela aproaches she eyes the pretty pretty griffin up and down. "Yeah, what batty said!"
[17:08] * Candlelight_Sonata grumbles.  "It's Sona... Strifer."
[17:08] * Calamine looks up at her. "If there is any need for healing or dealing with spirits, I can help," Callie offers.
[17:09] * Strifer waves a dismissive hoof. "Yeah yeah.."
[17:09] * Lazer_Blazer gets up as the giffoness started to speak "So what are we looking at here? A few simple fecth jobs maybe clean out a rats nest or two?"
[17:10] <%Somber> Consuela lists out a number of jobs and what she thinks everypony would be best at.  If they failed... well, no one would be too fussed, they just wouldn't get paid.  Some simple hunting.  Some herb gathering.  Some repair work.  A terminal that needed fixing.  A drunk ex-stallionfriend that needed a good, stern, talking to, but not beating up.  And a... ahem
[17:10] <%Somber> intimate number of items that need to be removed from a house before a wife notices they're not hers.
[17:12] * Sedgewick inspects his talons. "I've been itching for an excuse to go hunting in this jungle."
[17:13] * Calamine looks at the list before saying, "I believe I can handle the herb gathering."
[17:14] * Naphthalena looks at the others a little bleerily before blinking and yawning again. "I can probably help with the terminal that needs fixing." She blinks as she realizes she said that outloud, fidgeting her claws a little. "Um... I mean... Maybe, at least..."
[17:15] * Candlelight_Sonata sighs as she looks at the list and as Sedgewick offers to go hunting.  "I... guess I'll aid the colt who needs his marefriend's sundries removed."
[17:15] * Strifer yawns because Naphthalena yawns. "Dammit Naph... 'kay Ill do the fucking fixing then, as everypony else are so eager to do their party."
[17:18] * Strifer nudges Candlelight_Sonata. "Keep the ones you get, I bet they'll look fucking hot on you."
[17:18] * Candlelight_Sonata looks like she wants to die and crawl into a whole and can only speak in high pitched squeaks for the next few minutes.
[17:19] * Strifer snickers at that.
[17:21] * Calamine returns with a mere 10 buttons, her mane an absolute mess, and her coat covered in dirt and sweat. "I guess the right herbs are a little harder to find here than back home."
[17:22] * Sedgewick has been more successful in his hunting endeavor than Calamine on her gathering endeavor. "The animals here aren't that hard to catch, but you shoulda seen the one that got away."
[17:23] * Sedgewick presents the 35 buttons he was paid with as he speaks.
[17:23] * Lazer_Blazer finds the buck in question, after a moment of their talk she gets him to acknowledge he needs to leave her alone, but for some reason he bursts out crying and runs off at the end.
[17:24] * Candlelight_Sonata returns with 10 buttons.  "I don't want to talk about it."
[17:25] <%Somber> The day ends with the friends meeting again at Sex on the beach.  There's been victory.  Defeat.  Explosions!  And a great deal of embarasment...
[17:25] * Naphthalena was sitting at the bar by the time the others got back from their efforts, slumped and looking dejected, or perhaps merely melted by the heat. She didn't seem to have any buttons to her name.
[17:26] * Candlelight_Sonata fans Naphthalena gently with her wings.  "I'm sure you tried your best, sweetheart."
[17:27] * Naphthalena looks up at Candlelight_Sonata, without moving her head more than she has to. "... 's not good enough..." Her voice was low and quiet. The kid apparently took failure not so great, or at least not today.
[17:27] * Strifer returns with a scorched mane and coat, she stinks of petrol and has black spots from soot and various fluids, she bounces in, presenting 50 buttons that she slams down on teh table infront of her with a wide grin on her face, her scorched mane and tail noticably shorter now then it was before "... Aww yeah! That was awesome!"
[17:27] * Strifer raises a hoof in the air. "Hoofbump Up top, who's with me! Go fucking team!"
[17:29] * Calamine raises a hoof slowly and bumps it with Strifer. "So did things go well for you?" she asks, unsure.
[17:30] * Candlelight_Sonata puts a wing around Naphthalena.  "You went out on your lonesome and made the effort, Naph.  That's good enough in my book.  Always going to be other jobs."  She rests her chin on the dragon's head.  "We're not ditching you just cause the day didn't go your way."
[17:31] * Strifer grins at Calamine, shaking herself, spreading soot and various gunk everywhere. "Yeah, why? Fixed up some power generator thingamajigy. Easy fucking peasy. Hell, I'm so damn happy, keep the buttons. I don't even care!" She smiles wide and pushes the buttons towards Calamine instead.
[17:31] * Lazer_Blazer trots up to the bar still a smirk on her face "What now, hit up this shop keeper and see what he's got for us?"
[17:32] * Sedgewick resists the urge to give Naphthalena a hug because that would probably be creepy. "It's okay, Naph. Sucking at something is the first step to being kinda good at something."
[17:33] * Naphthalena sighs quietly and leans against Candlelight_Sonata a little bit, she yawns and, despite having not had the most exhausting of days, seems tired all the same.
[17:34] * Calamine nods. "I think that would be best. My grandmother always says "Busy zebra are happy zebra."
[17:34] <%Somber> Consuela nodded.  "I doubt that there will be a chance for more work for several days.  If you wish more, you will have to deal with Oro, Zetoli, or Coupon."
[17:35] * Sedgewick grimaces. "Which one isn't associated with the baron or the colonel, again?"
[17:36] * Lazer_Blazer nods "So Coupon it is, as I'm not in a rush to get in on this mess over thiers."

[17:37] * Sedgewick "I don't think taking sides is a good idea. Let's talk to Coupon."
[17:38] * Strifer blink blinks, grabbing the buttons she earned for herself again. "Merchant! Let's go shopping! We can buy a pillow for Napth!" Eyeing Candlelight_Sonata. "Did you keep any of the.. You know." She says, raising a eyebrow questionaly.
[17:39] <%Somber> It was late afteroon, and as things got dark, it seemed like a much more subdued night was in order.  Apparently they save the parties for weekends.  Still, the merchant's shop was open; it had been a shop after the bombs fell... and before.  It still had an anemicly flickering 'sparkle cola' sign in one window.
[17:39] * Candlelight_Sonata lifts her chin and nods in agreement.  "I..."  she's cut off by Strifer, then proceeds to turn an interesting shade of purple as a rather strangled sound emits from her muzzle.
[17:39] * Sedgewick hides a chuckle behind a wing.
[17:40] * Strifer taps the batpony's muzzle, calling to the others. "Uh, guys! I think I broke batty!"
[17:41] * Naphthalena blinks in confusion at Candlelight_Sonata's reaction. Before slipping down to her feet. "I... Um, I guess that staying neutral would be best, f-for now. Since we don't really know much about either side..."
[17:41] * Lazer_Blazer heads off to the shop "If anyone else is would like come."
[17:41] * Sedgewick falls in behind Lazer_Blazer

[17:43] * Candlelight_Sonata shakes her head and follows Naphthalena.  Her eyes become slits as she glares at Strifer.  She tries to make a 'I'm watching you' motion with her hoof, only to stumble and fall on her face.
[17:43] * Calamine blinks. "Are you not feeling well, Sona? Do you need medical attention?"
[17:44] * Strifer stares back at Candlelight_Sonata, narrowing her eyes, as she fumbles she laughs loudly. "Nice moves Batty! Taken classes?"
[17:44] <%Somber> The shop was divided in two by a large cage.  Normal stuff was on one side... things like every day materials.  On the other, behind the counter, were all the expensive and dangerous stuff, like guns, weapons, and barding.  Behind the counter was a bored looking earth pony stallion picking his nose with a hoof.
[17:45] * Candlelight_Sonata waves a hoof from the dirt at Calamine.  "I'm dandy.  Just inspecting the ground for hazards.  Turns out the only one is a lanky grey oaf."  she says, pointing a hoof a Strifer.
[17:46] * Strifer looks behind herself. "Huh?"
[17:46] * Calamine stares for a moment before realizing what was going on. "Oh no! Please don't fight! Disharmony and fighting should never happen between friends."
[17:47] * Lazer_Blazer heads to the counter "So you would be Coupon? would you not?" she asks the buck with a hoof in his nose
[17:48] <%Somber> He pulled it out, blinking dimly at Lazer, a trail of snot connecting one to the other.  He wiped it off on his leg.  "Yeah.  You are those new folks helping out, right?"
[17:49] * Candlelight_Sonata stands up.  "Not fixing to fight, Callie.  Sides, me tryin' to hump Strifer for dominance would be poor plan.  Win or lose, Strifer'd still have more than I did in the anyway."
[17:49] * Naphthalena moves to help Candlelight_Sonata back to her hooves. "You should be careful... Ponies can chip their teeth doing that..."
[17:49] * Lazer_Blazer nods at gross stallion "Yes and we hear you need some work done."
[17:50] * Candlelight_Sonata smiles to Naphthalena.  "Thank you, Naph."
[17:50] * Strifer shakes her head. "Fightin' There aint no fightin' Here, trust me, you'll know when there is fighting.  I'm just messing with ya." She snickers and heads on into the store.
[17:50] <%Somber> He let out a sour note.  "Don't need the store swept or things like that.  Need something dangerous.  Nothing you'd want to do."
[17:51] * Candlelight_Sonata follows Strifer into the store, catching the tail end of Coupon's statement.  "Might be something we might want to do."  She says as she stands next to Strifer.
[17:52] * Lazer_Blazer glares at the buck "And what gives you that idea." as she waves a hoof from Sedgewick to herself "I think we can handle and thing you need done."
[17:52] <%Somber> He sighed.  "Need something from some ruins in the jungle.  Motor parts.  A compressor.  Capacitor.  Things like that.  The jungle's dangerous.  No pony wants to go in that deep."
[17:52] <Lazer_Blazer> any*
[17:52] * Sedgewick licks some blood from his talons that he missed earlier. "Why don't you tell us, and we'll say if it is or not."
[17:54] * Sedgewick nods. "Alright. We can do that."
[17:54] * Naphthalena fidgets a little bit, being surrounded by obviously dangerous ponies, griffons and zebras apparently unsettled the small dragon a little bit.
[17:55] <%Somber> He snorted.  "Yeah, that's what I thought.  No pony would-" he blinked and stared at them.  "Wait... what?  Seriously?"
[17:55] * Lazer_Blazer snorts "Well where new here. And some old fears are not going to stop us. Heck have you even a Megaradscorpion? Hummm... have you?"
[17:55] * Sedgewick answers mildly, "Do I look like a pony to you?"
[17:55] * Strifer snorts. "Pfft, we'll have that done in a few hours, tops." She puts a hoof over Candlelight's back and pulls her close. "With our fearless leader, Batty! We can take on any fucking thing!" Striking a pose as she holds her other forehoof up towards the roof of the building.
[17:56] <Calamine> "I am not a fighter, but the spirits might aid me in helping. And I can always help my friends."
[17:56] * Candlelight_Sonata steps back a pace and puts a wing around Naph.  "We'll keep safe, alright?"   She whispers to the dragon.  She squeaks as she's pulled to Strifer's side.
[17:57] * Candlelight_Sonata shakes herself and resists the urge to glare at Strifer, instead choosing to give a toothy grin.  "What you need done, we'll do."
[17:57] <%Somber> Coupon gave a dismissive wave of his hoof.  "Fine.  One.  happy?"  He said with a snort.  "Look, if you're serious about this, take the road south into the jungle.  When it forks, take the right one.  It should take you to the ruins... some mine or some such.  Get the parts and get back here.  You find anything else, it's yours.  I just need the parts for an

[17:59] * Candlelight_Sonata nods her head and extracts herself from Strifer's embrace.  "Right.  Got a complete list of parts then?"
[17:59] <%Somber> He digged under the counter and passed one over, oblivious to the booger on the margin.
[18:00] * Strifer releases Candlelight_Sonata from her hoofgrip. "Fantastic, you talky ponies go over details!" She starts checking the counters, maybe something more in the ways of armor was being sold? Or hell, a new pair of hoofclaws would be sweet.
[18:00] * Lazer_Blazer nods "Ok go south, then take the right at the fork. And thats all jump down in there an find some parts? And nopony has gone an looted the place? Sounds like fun."
[18:01] * Candlelight_Sonata casually removes the booger with the practiced hoofstroke of somepony who's done it before.  Perhaps with younger siblings.  "We'll be back as soon as we're able."
[18:02] <%Somber> "Doubt it.  Jungle would eat them.  Heard about the place from a scav about six months ago.  He was pretty honest for a scab.  Just be careful.  Lots of things that'll kill you in the jungle.
[18:03] * Candlelight_Sonata hoofs the list to Naphthalena.  "Know what these parts are?"  she asks.
[18:03] * Naphthalena takes a look at the list curiously, trying to decypher the hoofwriting on them.
[18:03] * Strifer blehs as she goes over the wares in the shop. Nothing really worth getting. To bad.
[18:04] * Lazer_Blazer laughs "Like air and water." as she gives the list a look
[18:04] * Naphthalena blinked a few moments then shook her head, offering the list back to Candlelight_Sonata. "I've never really done much with... Well, building things. Or physical maintenance like that..."
[18:05] * Sedgewick "But I bet you would be good at it. You can get in all the small places that bigger ponies can't."
[18:05] * Candlelight_Sonata smiles back and shrugs.  "Me neither.  Just figured you'd be a might more informed than me."  She says with a wink.  "I can sneak, hunt, and talk.  'Sbout it."
[18:06] * Strifer blink blinks as she spots an inhaler of dash, she takes it in her mouth and tosses it up on the counter. "Oi, got any more of these? And how much?"
[18:07] * Candlelight_Sonata looks with great concern at the dash inhaler.  "Sure you need that, Strifer?"
[18:08] * Sedgewick points at a set of wingblades hanging up on the wall behind the counter. "How much for the razorwings?"
[18:09] <%Somber> "Fifty buttons," he said to sedgewick.
[18:09] * Strifer flicks a tail in Candlelight_Sonata's general direction. "Piss off, Batty. This dosnt concern you."
[18:09] <%Somber> "Ten" he said to strifer.
[18:10] * Sedgewick does some mental math. Then some more mental math. Then he breaks down and counts on his talons. "Do you take bottlecaps?"
[18:10] * Lazer_Blazer gives the store a look to see if any thing she needs
[18:10] * Strifer digs through her saddlebags and fishes out 30 buttons, with her hooves. Magical. "Enough for three, ye?"
[18:10] * Calamine looks at the group. "Um, well, if we will not be going until the morning, then may I please excuse myself? I promised Seabreeze I would meet her for dinner."
[18:11] * Naphthalena just sortof fidgets a little bit, uncertain about what she should be doing.
[18:12] * Candlelight_Sonata gives Strifer a hard look.  She looks down to Naphthalena.  "Want to wait outside?"
[18:12] <%Somber> He sniffs and passes over three inhalers.
[18:12] * Strifer flicks her tail again, not taking her eyes of the inhalers. "Suure, have fun eating her out, Cala. See ya in the morning."
[18:12] * Strifer grabs them and shoves them into her saddlebags. "Right, all set.!"
[18:13] * Calamine furrows her brow. "Why would I eat her? I am not a cannibal," she mutters before sighing, shrugging her shoulders, and leaving.
[18:13] * Strifer blinks, taht was not the reaction she had been hoping for. "Wow. Did she.. "
[18:15] * Strifer shakes her head, shrugs and leaves the store.
[18:15] * Naphthalena nods her head a little to Candlelight, moving towards the doorway and sighing quietly.
[18:15] * Candlelight_Sonata waits for Strifer to leave the store, a rather irate expression on her face greeting the earth pony.
[18:16] * Strifer smirks back at Candle. "...sup?"
[18:17] * Candlelight_Sonata glares at Strifer.  "You gorram know what is up, Strifer.  How long you been a Dashy?"
[18:17] <%Somber> He looked back at Sedgewick.  "Why would I?  I can pick up trash off the street.
[18:17] * Sedgewick shrugs. "Nevermind then."
[18:18] * Lazer_Blazer looks to Sedgewick "How much are you short, becuse I don't see any thing I need?"
[18:18] * Sedgewick grimaces. "I'm short by 15 buttons.
[18:18] * Strifer leans her head to her side, giving the batpony a leveled glare. Then she snorts, shaking her head. "Why the hell do -you- care?"
[18:19] * Candlelight_Sonata narrows her eyes, her wide pupils retracting yet again to slits.  "I care, because I don't know how it's going to effect ponies who look to me for leadership.  Don't know if you meant that as a joke or not in there, but I sure take it for serious."
[18:19] * Lazer_Blazer nods and pass's over the 15 buttons "Now all I have is 20 left. Maybe some booze later." as she trots out
[18:20] * Sedgewick is earnest. "Thank you. Thank you very much." He addresses the shopkeeper again. "Coupon?" He drops fifty buttons on the counter. "The wingblades, please."
[18:21] <%Somber> He nods to a small window set in the wall.  "I'll pass them outside once you pay.  I don't give folks weapons or ammo they can kill me with."  He said as he took the blades, held them up so he could inspect them and see they were of decent make, and then pushed open the little door.
[18:22] * Strifer snorts again. "How it effects me, how it fucking effects me?! You're seeing me off the stuff right now! And you better fucking back off or you'll see a whole lot more!"
[18:24] * Candlelight_Sonata unfurls her wings as she steps a pace forward.  "Yes, how it effects you.  Don't take an idiot to see Dash don't do all the good in the world.  And it ain't just you I'm worried about.  How is what you do gonna effect Naph?  Callie?  Sedge?  that's what I'm asking, Strifer.  Are we gonna have a problem?"
[18:26] * Lazer_Blazer see's Sona and Strifer in each others faces and sighs "I'm I going have to get you two a room. Becuse I don't think they cool with the two of you doing it on the street?"
[18:29] * Sedgewick steps outside and dons his new wingblades.
[18:29] * Strifer steps forward towards Candlelight_Sonata, stomping a hoof in  the ground. "Fuck  yeah we're going to have a problem, I need that shit to work properly, okay?! On Dash Im fucking awesome! Now back the fuck of, or fucking do something about it." She ends, tauntingly. She wants Candle to hit her so fucking bad, her entire body is shaking.
[18:31] * Candlelight_Sonata is keenly aware of the size difference between her and the mare in her face, but doesn't back down.  "Just don't make it a problem.  Because if you fuck up and one of the others gets hurt or worse because of it, so help me, I'll rip your throat out with my fangs."  She says in a deathly calm and quiet whisper.
[18:31] * Lazer_Blazer slowly trots over to the two ready to stop this if she has to.
[18:31] <%Somber> They'd need a few little adjustments, but otherwise they were of good quality... nice and sharp.
[18:34] * Strifer dosn't drop the gaze, a low growl emitting from her throat before suddenly breaking into a shiteating grin, it dosnt reach her eyes though. "Suuuure, whatever you say boss. Now, was there anything else you fucking wanted or can I go get pissed?"
[18:36] * Candlelight_Sonata leans back and shakes her head.  "Go do what you want, Strifer."  She says, turning back to Naphthalena, Lazer_Blazer, and Sedgewick
[18:37] * Naphthalena fidgets and sighs quietly as she slumps a little outside the building. Being alone was fairly easy, comparatively. At least then she didn't have to worry about what anyone else thought of her.
[18:37] * Lazer_Blazer looks between Candlelight_Sonata and Strifer "And what the hay was that all about?" she asked Candlelight_Sonata
[18:38] * Strifer snorts again . "Sure thing boss, I'll be in the tavern if you need me." Trotting towards the building for a drink, or 5
[18:39] * Sedgewick has decided to stay out of the argument. He didn't care if Strifer was high on Dash, Rampage, or morphine. So long as she fought good.
[18:40] * Candlelight_Sonata sits down on her haunches and shakes her head.  "Don't like not ponies taking stims when I don't know how it effects them.  I want to keep all ya'll safe.  Just want to be sure that my..." she hesitates.  "Be sure my friends can help me do that."
[18:42] * Candlelight_Sonata twitches her wings.  "I'm gonna go check to see that Callie's ok."  She says, taking off silently into the night air.
[18:42] * Lazer_Blazer sighs "So what if she's fucked up to the gills. You souldn't all get up in her face like that. Buck me, she could have her you badly. Then you are helping then?"
[18:44] * Candlelight_Sonata stops and lands quietly.  She sighs and trots over to Naphthalena and gives the dragon a hug.  "You're right Lazer_Blazer.  Sorry I didn't think of that.  I just... I'd rather she hurt me than the rest of you."
[18:45] * Naphthalena blinks and slowly looks up to Candlelight. She stands slowly. "We should-" a yawn interrupts her, "-aaaahmmm... Erk." She fidgets a little bit. "G-get back to get some rest for tomorrow. If we're going to do something dangerous."
[18:47] * Candlelight_Sonata settles down on her belly and tilts her head to her back.  "Hop on, Naph.  Let's get you to bed.  Sorry we've kept you up so long."
[18:48] * Naphthalena carefully climbed up onto Candlelight's back, taking a grip of her mane gently and leaning forwards tiredly.
[18:48] * Sedgewick is nearby, and watching the argument with interest. But he shows no sign of actually piping up. Maybe he's shy?
[18:48] * Lazer_Blazer shakes her head "Looks like you don't have much experience junkies. Never get in thier face like that, and never the ones on combat stims."

[18:49] * Candlelight_Sonata nods as she starts trotting toward the hotel.  "I'll keep that in mind, Lazer.  Comin', Sedgewick?"
[18:50] * Sedgewick finishes adjusting the wingblades and nods.
[18:51] * Lazer_Blazer stretches with a yawn "Y'all go get some sleep. I'll see if I can get drink."
[18:52] * Strifer is in the tavernplace, drinking rum. Maybe she could hire one of the girls, did they do that here?
[18:52] * Candlelight_Sonata tucks Naphthalena into bed before stealing off into the night.
[18:54] * Sedgewick goes directly to bed.
[18:55] * Lazer_Blazer trots into the bar and see's Strifer and head over to her "Three shots." she tell the bar keep and sits down
[18:57] * Lazer_Blazer looks over to Strifer then back to the bar keep "So, what part of equstria are you from?" she asks the ex-raider
[18:59] * Strifer shoots Lazer_Blazer a glance. "Here to tell me Im a fuckup to- Oh. Huh, I'm from New Bridle, it's outside manehattan , well, I was. Last few years, wandering from place to place." She sighs, swigging the rest of the rum. "What about you, Hornhead?"
[19:02] * Lazer_Blazer smirks "I road with some caravans from place to place. Thats how our band did gigs. Hook up with some traders and goto a new town. But I from Detrot."
