  1. This article is not an exhaustive list of ripping tools, it merely lists a few commonly used suggestions. If you want to write a guide and have it added to this list, contact caaok. Remember, you can use any program you like to rip here so long as the files sound okay, but CD rips from unofficial rippers can be trumped by EAC or XLD rips.
  2.
  3. Note that the torrents linked here and within the guides may become outdated over time. I recommend doing a torrent search so that you obtain the newest possible version. As always with software torrents, make sure you check the comments to see if the crack is working before you download.
  4.
  5. Approved Ripping Tools for CD Media
  6.
  7.
  8. These are the tools that will grant you a 100% FLAC rip for a CD upload here. This means your upload cannot be trumped and is of the highest possible quality.
  9.
  10. Exact Audio Copy (EAC)
  11.
  12. A secure ripper for Windows.
  13. Download here: http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/en/index.php/resources/download/

  21.
  22. Unofficial Ripping Tools for CD Media
  23.
  24.
  25. These tools will not grant you a 100% log, so any FLAC that you upload can be trumped by a user using EAC or XLD. However, for MP3 uploads this is not a concern, and these tools rip files much more quickly. These are merely examples of common programs, you can use any program you like to rip CDs so long as the sound files are not flawed with pops/clicks/static/other problems.
  26.
  27. Morituri
  28.
  29. A secure ripper for Linux, written in Python. Morituri is currently being tested, and may soon be an approved what.cd ripper. If you use Linux and want to help test, or if you just want to get started ripping, please see the guide below.

  32.
  33. RubyRipper
  34.
  35. A secure ripper for Linux. Note that this will not give you a 100% log (though it does produce one). You'll want to attempt to set up EAC using WINE or a virtual machine for a 100% rip.

  38.
  39. dBpoweramp
  40.
  41. A secure ripper for Windows, comes with transcoding software as well. A pirated version can always be found in the What.CD toolbox as freeleech, though the newest version will often be available as a separate non-freeleech torrent here.

  50. Converting WAV Files to FLAC and Tagging Them
  51.
  52.
  53. Several of the tools below present you with WAV files, which you aren't allowed to upload here. The files won't have any tags and won't be properly named for our standards either. So here's a small guide on using a free Windows tool to convert, tag, and name these files for upload. The principles will be the same on other operating systems, though the programs used will be different.

  68. Unofficial Ripping Tools for SACD Media
  69.
  70.

  72.
  73. Note that this program is difficult to use, and requires an old model of PS3 (list of models) capable of reading SACDs, with a firmware less than or equal to 3.55. You'll need to mod it with custom firmware.
