- >"Skreee!"
- >"Squeak! Squeak!"
- >Every time they're within five feet of each other.
- >Every single time they even glance at one another.
- >It doesn't even matter if they've said anything or done anything.
- >They start screeching and squeaking incessantly.
- >It doesn't stop until they've been separated.
- >You are Anonymous, and you just want to read.
- "If you two don't knock it off, I'm going to put you in the corners."
- >Speck and Actias, almost forgetting that the other exists, stare up at you with apologetic looks.
- >"Sorry, Anon."
- >"I am also sorry, Anonymous."
- "Why do you two hate each other so much?"
- >"We don't!"
- "Then why are you always screaming?"
- >"Anonymous. This uncultured bat claims that she is yours, and yours alone."
- >"Well, duh! I was here first, and he pays the most attention to me!"
- >"So? Maybe he just takes pity on you for being such an inferior species of pony!"
- >"Say that again and I'll make you regret it!"
- >"You wish your kind was as elegant and graceful as the moth-ponies!"
- >They start their bickering again.
- >Words quickly devolve into their obnoxious noises.
- >As soon as you stand up and pick Speck up, the noise stops.
- >You place her in the left corner of the room.
- >Actias dodges you as you try to pick her up.
- >She just walks to the right corner of the room.
- "You two stay there until you're ready to apologize to each other."
- >Finally, enough silence to concentrate on reading.
- >A very low screech starts to sound from the left corner.
- >You look up to find Speck glaring at Actias from across the room.
- "Speck, stop. Put your face in the corner."
- >"Sorry."
- >She shoves her face into the corner.
- >Buzzing and squeaking noises come from the right corner.
- >Actias glares at Speck, fluttering her wings quickly.
- "Actias!"
- >Her wings fold as she stops.
- "I'm going to take a nap. If you two wake me up, I swear I'll glue you together or something."
- >Speck snickers and Actias chuckles.
- "I'm serious."
- >"Yes, Anonymous. We know you are. We'll behave."
- >You lie down on the couch and doze off.
- >What feels like an earthquake rouses you from your nap.
- >Just as expected, Speck and Actias are... still sitting in their corners.
- >Sitting up, you look around the room, but find nothing that could have caused the house to shake so violently.
- >Until you look down.
- >A small bat-pony has tumbled into your lap.
- >"Hi mister Anon!"
- "Hello Sirocca."
- >The little pile of bat-pony smiles up at you as she sits upright.
- >"Why're mama and miss Actias in the corners?"
- "They're being bad."
- >"Oh."
- "What was that rumbling?"
- >"My tummy. I'm hungry."
- >Speck starts to trot over to you and Sirocca.
- "Get back in the corner."
- >"But-"
- "Sirocca, go help yourself to the mangoes in the fridge. Speck, get back in the corner."
- >Sirocca scampers off as Speck grumbles at you and turns back to her corner.
- >"Rather sad when one cannot drop her pride to apologize and feed her own daughter, isn't it?"
- "Stop antagonizing her, Actias."
- >"Fine."
- >You have no idea what their problems with each other actually are.
- >They've just always disliked each other.
- "Why are you two so hostile, anyway?"
- >"Because moths are dumb! All they do is bump their faces against glass and eat cloth all day!"
- >"That's not true! At least we don't eat insects and drink blood!"
- >"I don't even do any of that!"
- >"Oh. Well your ears are dumb! What's the fluff even for!"
- >"It makes us look cuter. Why don't you have ears?"
- >Actias flips her ears up out of her mane.
- >"I hide them because they would otherwise shame yours!"
- >"That's dumb!"
- >"You're dumb!"
- >Speck screeches and launches herself across the room as Actias starts to trot from her corner.
- >Sirocca walks back in with a mango in her mouth.
- >She sits beside you on the couch.
- >"Aren't you going to stop them?"
- "No. I think I'm done trying to intervene."
- >Speck grabs Actias' head between her hooves and screeches.
- >Actias, unable to do anything, tries to cover her ears.
- >She fails, and opts to try to block Speck's mouth off with her face.
- >Speck stops screeching as Actias crams her face into the bat-pony's mouth.
- >"I didn't think this through."
- >Speck slumps back, Actias' head still in her mouth, and tries to look at you.
- >She raises her hooves and raises an eyebrow.
- "Are you two done yet?"
- >Speck nods.
- >Actias tries to nod.
- "Alright. Speck, take Actias out of your mouth. That's gross."
- >Somehow there's a loud popping sound when Speck removes Actias' face from her mouth.
- >The moth-pony's facial fur is matted down with slobber.
- "Now hug and say you're sorry."
- >Sirocca continues to eat her mango as she watches the two adult ponies make ammends.
- >They hug.
- >"Sorry, Speck."
- >"I'm sorry, too."
- >For a moment, all is well.
- >And then they start screeching and squeaking at each other, for seemingly no reason.
- "Why!"
- >"I don't think they're sorry, mister Anon."
- >They never stop hugging, though.
- "I don't understand!"
- >"Adults are dumb."
- >You look down at the bat-filly.
- >She has a point.
- >"Can we go get some ice cream?"
- >Ice cream sounds good.
- >It will definitely be more enjoyable than watching a bat-pony and moth-pony hug and act hostile towards one another.
- >Maybe they'll have stopped when you get back.
- "Yeah."
- >You pick Sirocca up and leave the two silly ponies to hug it out.
