  1. >Lyra Heartstrings sat in awe, reading the letter before her
  2. >She couldn’t believe what she was reading, but it made her smirk into a smile that went from ear to ear
  3. >After a few minutes, she put the letter down and sighed
  4. >Silence was brought upon the room
  5. >Until…
  6. “BON BON! BON BON!”
  7. >The exasperated candy pony sighed, and rolled her eyes as she yelled back, “WHAT?!”
  8. “Just c’mere! You have to hear this!”
  9. >”This isn’t going to be another one of your /stupid/ anthropolo-whatever ideas, is it?”
  10. “No! Just get your flank over here! Plus, my ANTHROPOLOGY ideas are NOT stupid!”
  11. >With a heavy amount of reluctance, Bon Bon headed over to the living room, where her insane roommate was stationed
  12. >On the couch, sitting like a human, as per usual
  13. >”Where the heck did she get the idea of “hoo-menz”, anyway?”, the yellow candy-maker thought
  14. >Bon Bon sat on the floor like a dog, as Lyra floated the letter over to her
  15. >She snatched it out of the air, and glossed over it before staring at it in shock
  16. >”Y-You’re… leaving?”
  17. >Lyra smiled excitedly at Bon Bon-who didn’t look to happy about the whole ordeal, getting off the couch to be at eye level with her roommate
  18. “Yup!”, the minty-green coated mare said in glee
  19. >Lyra wagged her tail, further more showing how excited she is about leaving
  20. >”To… Canterlot?”
  21. >Bon Bon’s face showed extreme discomfort with this idea, despite her earlier actions
  22. “The whole letter doesn’t explain it, so I’ll tell you why!” Lyra starts out, her face still happy as can be, “Y’see, me and my pen pal, Octavia, have been long-term chatting about Tavi’s upcoming concert.”
  23. >Lyra talks faster than Pinkie, attempting to explain the situation to her roomie
  24. “Tavi’s been having some trouble preparing for her performance, since it’s with her and a friend. And the song she’s performing is usually with three instruments-cello, violin and a lyre-and since /I/ play a harp-“
  25. >”Lyre.”
  26. “Right. And since the concert is going to be in Canterlot, AAAND since Tavi lives in Canterlot… “Y’see where I’m going with this, right?”
  27. >Bon Bon nods, tilting her head to down to the floor
  28. >”And it’s for three days?”
  29. “Her concert is two days away, which means it’s-“
  30. >”On the day you leave, yes, I got that.”
  31. >The minty-green mare curiously eyed her friend, looking at her with sympathy
  32. “What’s wrong, Bon Bon?”
  33. >”N-Nothing… Just… go on your trip to Canterlot, already. Don’t forget to bring your lyre.”
  34. “Well, duh! Why would I forget to bring that?”
  35. >Lyra hovered her instrument-plus the case it comes in-over to her, and puts her lyre in her case
  36. >She then floated a fedora on her head, and a suit case full of clothes-that she doesn’t need
  37. “Well, I’ll be on my way, Bon Bon! Bye bye!”
  38. >The candy-maker sighs and waves her right hoof
  39. >”Bye.. be safe!”
  40. >Lyra zooms out of her apartment, heading to the train station with the thoughts of why Bon Bon was acting so weird
  41. >Bon Bon sighed and climbed onto the couch, lazily
  42. >She couldn’t believe she would be without her best friend for three days
  43. >Yes, they shared some differences, but Bon Bon loved her friend all the same, although, annoyed by her antics on occasion…
  44. >Actually, it was a lot
  45. >Like, a LOT a lot..
  46. >Hm…
  47. >Maybe three days with out that obsessive bozo wouldn't be too bad after all…
  48.
  49.
  50. >At the train station, the minty-green mare couldn’t wait for her ride to finally pick her up
  51. >Not too many ponies going to Canterlot, today…
  52. >Why would they, however?
  53. >It’s the summer right after Sombra was defeated
  54. >Most ponies are still too scared to go to any major city, like Canterlot
  55. >In fact, most ponies are coming to Ponyville, instead!
  56. >Quite ironic, actually
  57. >Although, they mostly go to just see Princess Twilight Sparkle and her friends, but none the less
  58. >Speaking of Twilight’s friends, one of them, Applejack, was going to Canterlot right with our friend, Lyra
  59. >When the train DID arrive, those two were the first ones to get on
  60. >They both sat next to each other relatively in the back, since the Ponyville train was going to be so empty this trip around
  61. >Lyra was the first to start the conversation:
  62. “Hey…. Uh, farm-pony, right?”
  63. >”Th’ name’s, Applejack. Pencil-head, right?”
  64. >AJ wasn’t pleased with Lyra’s unintentional racism, since farm-ponies tend to always be earth ponies
  65. >But that’s just apart of earth-ponies’ culture… although ponies like Filthy Rich tend to resent that culture
  66. >”Pencil-head” tried to stir the conversation into a more pleasant mood, since our minty mare is a good pony. That’s what good ponies would do, right?
  67. “Well, let me introduce myself. I’m Lyra, Lyra Heartstrings. I play a lyre, and… uh, that’s it.”
  68. ‘Isn’t this going smoothly?’ she thought, attempting to look friendly to the offended earth pony
  69. >”Hmph... As ya already know, Ah’m Applejack, a farm pony, yes, but friends to a /Princess/, Twilight Sparkle-“
  70. “Who /doesn’t/ know that, AJ-Can I call you AJ, by the way? You and your friends have saved Ponyville like, fifty times now! Plus-to reiterate, your friend’s a PRINCESS now! I don’t like to say it in public, but I wish I could get her autograph just so I could frame it on a shelf!”
  71. >”…But you’ve know ‘er all yer life.”
  72. >There was a slight pause before Lyra spoke up again,
  73. “Oh yeah. I kinda forgot about that,” she chuckles awkwardly
  74. >Applejack just rolls her eyes
  75. ’Swimmingly’
  76. >The rest of the train ride was… awkward
  77. >Lyra constantly tried to make conversation with AJ, but to no avail
  78. >AJ either ignored her, or I was like the previous converse
  79. >Eventually, Lyra decided it would be best to leave the farm pony alone
  80. >…
  81. ‘One more question.’
  82. “Why are you going into Canterlot?”
  83. >”Ta meet a friend.”
  84. ‘Well that was blunt.’
  85. “Oh, really! The same with me, actually! I’m meeting Octavia Melody!”
  86. >Applejack quickly turns to the musician in shock
  87. >”Tavi?! Ya mean /the/ Tavi?!”
  88. >A short pause is put between the two mares, before Lyra reluctantly asks
  89. “Yeah, why?”
  90. >”She’s apart of the apple family! Why, Ah remember tha last Apple Family Reunion she was at! Oh boy, was it fun!”
  91. ‘This is going pleasantly! She’s opening up more than ever before!’
  92. >”Oh man, Ah wish Ah could go back to those times! Good Celestia was it fun! Ah just remember when the two would play duets, with their cellos and violins!”
  93. >…
  94. >”But…”
  95. >Applejack’s exasperated mood seemed to quickly diminish in a matter of seconds
  96. >Loss, the only word that could be described from her expression
  97. “…But what?”
  98. >Applejack looks solemnly at the next seat over
  99. >”Ah rather not talk about it…”
  100. “Right… I understand”
  101.
  102.
  103. >Back at Bon Bon’s, she was having such a… “pleasant” time
  104. >And by that, we mean she was depressed
  105. >Our candy-yellow mare loved her crazy roommate
  106. >Everything she did reminded her of Lyra
  107. >When she sat on the couch-like a human-it reminded her of Lyra
  108. >When she paced around the house-on her back hooves-it reminded her of Lyra
  109. >When she started to do the simplest things like a human would do them, like drink water, eat food, ect., it reminded her of Lyra
  110. >She even started to read some of Lyra’s literature
  111. >It was all about the psychologies of humans, and how they might’ve existed way-back-when
  112. >Lyra thinks there were humans about four-thousand years ago
  113. >’Back in the 2000’s? But, that can’t be right,’ Bon Bon thought, ‘If there were humans back then, then how did Celestia exist?’
  114. >…Her books actually explain that
  115. >Lyra believes as follows: “Back then, Humans and ponies used to live together, generations and generations ago. But that all changed when the aliens named Changelings attacked. These Changelings were furious, seeing as how they nearly wiped out the human race as we know it. The Changelings, and their Queen, came through a portal, created by Starswirl the Bearded. The world that these Changelings came from was heavily populated with darkness, all love from the universe just, gone. Starswirl created another portal, that lead into a world where the humans could frolic and play, just before all of them were extinct. Celestia and Luna, a unicorn and a pegasus, respectively, took down the Changeling army, and sent them to what we now know as the Everfree Forest.” ~ Page 87, Chapter 3: The Human’s History
  116. >’What a much of malarkey!’ Thought Bon Bon, clearly not buying Lyra’s ideas
  117. >Surprisingly, none of her books were ever published
  118. >Although, Bon Bon has seen Lyra sneak out at night to sneak one of her books into Twilight’s Library-
  119. >”AND NEVER COME BACK, YOU SCUM!”
  120. >…Speaking of Twilight
  121. >Our secondary hero, Bon Bon, quickly puts the book down and trots to her window
  122. >She couldn’t see what was going on, thanks to the thousands of ponies outside her apartment
  123. >”B-But T-Twilight…. I-I’m sorry… I-I-“
  124. >That other voice sounds like…
  125. >”Fluttershy?” The candy maker questions
  126. >She bursts out of her front door, and pushes through some-hundred ponies just to see what’s happening
  127. >”NO, BUT’S, FLUTTERSHY! YOU’VE CROSSED THE LINE, AND I’M FINISHED WITH YOU!”
  128. >”This is out right cruel!” Mutters a pony
  129. >”Why would she do this?” Another one mumbles
  130. >”What did she do?” Another questions
  131. >”I-…It was an accident, Twilight..”
  132. >Fluttershy’s rabbit is cuddling up with her owner, scared of the possible outcomes
  133. >Fluttershy is silently crying, only occasionally sobbing in between spoken words
  134. >”Hmph, fine then!”
  135. >Bon Bon catches the eye of a certain pink pony, closest to the purple antagonist
  136. >She seems heartbroken at this entire scene, appalled that Twilight would even do something as horrid as this
  137. >Twilight sighs in aggravation, and apparently uses her magic to knock out the animal caretaker, along with her rabbit
  138. >The purple pony princess then starts to charge up her magic, while using her Royal Canterlot Voice for her next few words:
  139. >”I DECREE THAT YOU, FLUTTERSHY AND ANGEL BUNNY, ARE HEREBY /BANISHED/ FOR THE REST OF YOUR DAYS!”
  140. >Twi’s eyes lit up pure white, as she unleashed her magic on Fluttershy, to make her disappear into thin air
  141. >The pink pony’s eyes are flooded with tears, as she leaves without a single word
  142. >She then turns to the crowd
  143. >A gulp is heard from the fearful crowd, including Bon Bon
  144. >”So…. WHO’S NEXT?!”
  145. >Silence
  146. >….
  147. >”Good. I’ll be in the Library if anypony needs me. Protip: don’t need me. Tootaloo~!”
  148. >And with that, Twilight teleports back to the Treebrary, leaving everyone in shock
  149.
  150.
  151. >Back with Lyra, she finally got off the awkward train ride of death
  152. >Excluding the death part
  153. >Good thing she got off when she did, the silence between the two mares was deafening
  154. >Our favorite lyre-playing mare took a look around Canterlot, a smile from ear to ear forming on her face
  155. >With her fedora on her head, and her baggage in “hand”, she rushed off to the main part of the city
  156. >And when she got there, she gasped in awe
  157. >’These sights!’
  158. >’These buildings!’
  159. >’EVERYTHING! Ohmigosh this is just so-‘
  160. >Then she remembered something
  161. >’…Wait…
  162. >’I’VE LIVED HERE BEFORE!’
  163. >Yup
  164. >Our unicorn even went to Magic School with Twilight
  165. >She learned how to shift her magical aura into various objects, such as a brick, a hammer, a hand
  166. >All sorts of things!
  167. >But, back to the main point
  168. >Lyra had to find Octavia
  169. >Since her friend didn’t give her directions to her home-abode, she had to meet her at the train station
  170. >…And now Tavi is probably at the train station, waiting for her penpal to meet up with her
  171. ‘Good going, Lyra.’
  172. >Lyra turns around and starts to head back to the train station-
  173. “Ow! Hey, watch it!”
  174. >”Oh, I’m terribly sorry. I just didn’t see you there.”
  175. >”C’mon, Anon… She’s bound to be here somewhere…”
  176. ’Wonder who they’re talking abou-‘
  177. >Lyra’s thoughts were cut short, as she sees a…
  178. >A…
  179. “A HUMAN!!”
  180. >”Huh-GAHH!”
  181. >Lyra quickly tackles the mysterious human to the ground, hugging him and spouting everything she can about humans and how she’s glad she’s finally found one
  182. >”HEY! GET OFF OF HIM!”
  183. >The minty-green pony looks up, and sees…
  184. “Octavia..?”
  185. >”Hey! How do you know my-“
  186. >The light brown musician looks at Lyra’s cutiemark, and then slowly puts the pieces together
  187. >”…Lyra?”
  188. >”You know this crazy mare?!”
  189. >”…She’s… the mare I’ve been telling you about, Anonymous.”
  190. >Anon looks at Heartstrings, then at Tavi… then back at Heartstrings
  191. >”Okay, I see it now.”
  192. >Lyra gets off of our new friend, Anonymous, and looks at the two
  193. >”Why don’t we take all take a trip home, Anonymous, Lyra? We could actually hold a conversation there, rather than this crowded city.”
  194. >Lyra took a quick look around, and yes, the city is CROWDED
  195. >Thankfully, however, ponies keep going around the three, so it’s not much of a problem
  196. >Currently, anyway
  197. >Lyra and Anon give each other a quick glance, then turn to Tavi and nod, gleeful smiles on both of their faces
  198. >”Then follow me, ponies!”
  199. >A low growl can be heard from, presumably, Anonymous
  200. >”And gentleman”
  201.
  202. >When they all get to Octy’s home abode, Lyra and Anon sit in almost identical positions, crossing their legs simultaneously
  203. >The cello player’s eyes widen and her pupils dilate, her head tilting to the side in confusion
  204. >The mare and the man tilt their heads to the side as well, once again, simultaneously
  205. >”What’s wrong?” The human and the human-like mare ask, once again, simultaneously
  206. >”…Whatever it is you’re doing, please stop.” Octavia suggests, a worried expression on her face
  207. >Anon nods, but Lyra’s still confused
  208. >To start off their conversation, the neighborhood cello player asks:
  209. >”Why do you sit like that, Lyra?”
  210. >”…Yeah, why DO you sit like that? You could’ve just sat like a normal pony, like everyone else.” Commented Anon
  211. “Well… I sit like this because of my… uh, teeeeeeeny tiiiiiiny thing with humans…” Lyra answers, a blush upon her face
  212. >”Tiny, right.” Tavi rolls her eyes at the lyre-player, the situation from earlier playing in her mind
  213. >Lyra then directs her attention to Anon
  214. “It’s why I tackled you down earlier… I was just sooooo excited to see an actual factual HUMAN that I… didn’t think. Sorry about that, by the way..”
  215. >Anon chuckles and nods
  216. >”Knowing what I know now, It’s understandable, Lyra. I get excited sometimes too. See, back in my wo-“
  217. “I also wrote a couple books on my theories about humans.”
  218. >Lyra’s two new friends give her a vicious stare
  219. “…Okay, so it’s a hundred part series, going into deep detail about human anatomy and the presence that humans had, have, and will have, on Equestria-“
  220. >Anon tilts his head in confusion, starting to ask, “What do you mean, “will have”? To my information, there aren’t any other humans in Equestria, and I’ve never ventured out of Canterlot, and I’m /definitely/ not planning to.”
  221. “Just you wait, Anon! Humans will be living alongside us once again! First in Canterlot, then in Ponyville, then Manehatten, then Las Pegasus, then… EVERYWHERE!”
  222. >”But Lyra,” Octavia starts, “there’s only ONE human, and that’s ol’ Anonymous, here. There is no way that the human population could rise so much that there are hundreds of humans in each city of Equestria.”
  223. “You say that now, Tavi, but you wait. In twenty or so years, HUMANS WILL BE WITH US ONCE MORE!”
  224. >”Calm down!” Anon exclaims, “These walls aren’t exactly soundproof. Yell loud enough and they just might shatter!”
  225. “Really?”
  226. >Octavia rolls her eyes, interrupting Anon, “My house might be broken down and cheap, but it’s walls can’t shatter just from a loud yell.”
  227. >She then gives Anon a death stare, causing him to nervously scratch his head
  228. >”It was just a joke, Tavi. You know even Vinyl Scratch couldn’t destroy this house!”
  229. “Wait, huh? Did Vinyl live here?”
  230. >Octavia smirks, ready to answer Lyra’s question, “Why yes, yes indeed. This “dream home” used to be in Vinyl’s possession, which, in turn, caused this once, beauty of a living quarters to become the antique it is today. Trust me, years ago, this old thing was something I didn’t mind living in.”
  231. “Wait, wait, wait, hold on… YEARS?! How long has she had this house before practically giving it away?!”
  232. >”It was her parent’s house before her parents… well… left..” Octavia sighs
  233. “Left?”
  234. >”Yes, well, I /personally/ don’t know the whole story. Vinyl has only barely told me anything.”
  235. ’Must have been pretty personal to her…’ Lyra thought, putting a hoof on her chin
  236. >”But anywho,” Tavi continues, “Vinyl told me that her parents and her lived in here ever since she was a foal. Just when Vinyl was in her preteens, they left, never to be seen again. From then to now, Scratch has become a full fledged DJ, dee-jaying at various places around Canterlot and such. She has even DJ’d at the Canterlot Wedding.”
  237. “Y’know, I was actually AT the Canterlot Wedding.”
  238. >”Oh really?” Tavi lit up a bit, gleeful that
  239. “Yeah! I was one of the bridesmaids…. Or flowergirls… I honestly can’t remember which. It was a whole big hullabaloo during the time-“
  240. >”YO!”
  241. >All eyes are brought to Anon, as the human sighs
  242. “Anon, didn’t you JUST say not to yell in here?”
  243. >All the human can do is roll his eyes
  244. “Speaking of you two… Tavi, I meant to ask you this question before, but I was too excited at the time. How did you two meet?”
  245. >”Well-“ Octavia starts, before being interrupted by Anoymous
  246. >”I’LL explain this one, Octy.”
  247. >Octavia rolls her eyes, as Anon about to tell this tale
  248. >”To be honest, I just appeared here one day, confused and shocked that I was even here. Ponies everywhere were in a panic, deeming that I was some demon or something. Octavia was the only brave one, ‘cause she took me in and took care of me. She later found out that I played the violin extremely well, and we started doing concerts together, which explains why ponies don’t get in a huge panic... usually.”
  249. “….Huh.”
  250. >”….Yes. He’s apart of our concert, remember? I told you a violinist is going to be playing as well, did I not?” Tavi comments
  251. “Oh yeah! You did speak about him, although, you didn’t mention that he was a human.”
  252. >”Trust me, Lyra. It’s for the best that I didn’t talk about him before you came.”
  253. >Lyra sighs and nods, clearly either annoyed or completely un-understanding
  254. >”Also…. Speaking of the concert, we should really get to practicing. The concert’s in two days, right?”
  255. >Anon and Lyra nod, as they get up from their chairs and grab their respective instruments from their cases
  256. >Tavi reaches for her cello and gets in the starting position, smiling a smile full of glee
  257. >”Have we all remembered our parts?” Tavi asks, looking around the room
  258. >Silence...
  259. >”…Well then. Let’s just go through this, crash and burn. Ready?”
  260. >”Mhm”
  261. “Yup!”
  262. >”And a one, and a two, and a…”
  263.
  264.
  265. >”Twilight Sparkle’s gone mad!”
  266. >Day two in Ponyville since Bon Bon’s obsessive roommate has left for Canterlot
  267. >And our candy maker already has two problems latched onto her hooves
  268. >One, the constant change of emotions ever since Lyra has left
  269. >And two, the fact that Twilight has turned into a dictator over night
  270. >Well… yesterday was probably the start, thinking back on it
  271. >When Twilight seemingly kicked Fluttershy out of Ponyville for no apparent reason
  272. >What’s up with that?
  273. >But, besides Twilight’s dictatorship, there’s something… off
  274. >Maybe it’s the fact that Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, and Fluttershy are all out of town
  275. >Either they’ve been sent to missions ordered by the Princess, or Twilight banished them
  276. >Or in AJ’s case… No clue
  277. >Spike, Twilight’s little assistant, also went with Rarity, so every pure element of harmony is currently: gone.
  278. >And that’s EXTREMELY annoying
  279. >So, she’ll have to take matters into her own hooves
  280. >But, she doesn’t want to fight the crazy purple pony Princess
  281. >…Not yet, anyway
  282. >Looking at what Twilight’s doing now, using ponies as slaves, threatening to kill other ponies if they don’t abide by her
  283. >And even locking the population of Ponyville inside their own town, making sure not a single organism would leave
  284. >In fact, Ponyville’s clouds seem to be darker than usual…
  285. >And Bonny’s always hearing something from the other ponies about Twilight
  286. >”She took my little brother!”
  287. >”She made my sister eat candy she’s allergic to!”
  288. >”SHE CRASHED MY SHOP!”
  289. >”SHE CRASHED MY HOUSE!”
  290. >Those are the more common ones that she hears, especially the last two
  291. >Whenever our candy-making mare went to a local bar to chat with her friends, they would always talk about Twilight, and her “evil” ways
  292. >And there would ALWAYS be some guy who argues against Twilight’s “evil” ways, saying “She’s never done that!” or “She’s a new Princess, you really can’t blame her!” or “You’re just lying!”
  293. >And of course, an argument would commence, with the side Bon Bon agrees with winning, and the random pony losing
  294. >Eventually, the random pony would just walk off, still believing their side is right
  295. >And it would end with Bon Bon’s friend saying, “Wow, Twilight’s really brainwashed Ponyville!”
  296. >And the banana-candy mare would agree
  297. >But she’s never done anything about it
  298. >Twilight’s never messed with her OR her close friends
  299. >Which consists of Lyra and Roseluck
  300. >…
  301. >”Lyra…” Mumbles the blue candy maker
  302. >She slumps in her chair, sighing, later realizing she’s sitting like Lyra
  303. >Bonny immediately fixes herself back into the normal way to sit, resting her head on the hoofrest
  304. >She then looks out the window, attempting not to doze off
  305. >’Oh Lyra, I don’t think I’ll be able to survive another day without you…’
