  1. Points to consider:
  2.
  3. 1) 'Angry/evil//violent/murderous' characters- just because someone has one, that doesn't mean they want their character to butcher /your/ character. On the contrary, any experienced RPer(Unless consent was given to kill your character), will be fine directing that magnitude of violence toward an NPC(Non-playable character). This enriches long term RP's especially. Don't jump the gun thinking that person's violent character wants yours dead, because if they've been doing it long enough, it's probably the opposite. Having other characters to interact with that aren't dog food equals development. It's only logical.
  4.
  5. 2) Communication doesn't kill. People can bullshit OOCly without it getting dragged into IC interaction. Sure, you have some people who end up doing it, but in that case you're clearly on two different levels and can move on.
  6.
  7. 3) Against popular belief, you don't have to create a character that is a complete opposite of yourself to fit point (3). You should create something that interests you. If you can't get into the character, there's the chance that there's nothing about it that's providing enough entertainment. Intertwine elements that keep your attention. Seriously, no one is going to fault you for it. You're a multifaceted human being, adding one or two things that personally interest you to a character doesn't make it everything about you. You wouldn't willingly, on your own accord go to and sit through a two hour documentary about something that bored you to tears, would you? Applies here, you wouldn't create something thoroughly boring to you if you're intending to use that character for more than a few months.
  8.
  9. 4) Be creative. There's nothing wrong with trends if it really does interest you, but there are still a good majority of people that like something new and fresh to interact with.
  10.
  11. 5) Expand your horizons. RP with as many people and their characters as possible to help with development. Who cares if that one character doesn't have a website? It's probably new and could use the development as well.
