  8. At a young age, Eden struck out from the Gladeveins on her own, abandoning her friends and family with nothing but some vague statement about dreams and voices and disappearing into the darkest depths of the Shrieking Wilds, never to be seen again. Her loved ones mourned what they assumed was her death and eventually moved on. When her memory had almost faded away completely, Eden reappeared, a ghost in everything but the flesh.
  9.
  10. Without a word to anyone, she returned to her home where her mother lay deathly ill. She wasn't seen for days, but when she left her home her mother had made a miraculous recovery. And then she was gone as swiftly as she came.
  11.
  12. Eden wandered Sornieth like a silent, benevolent spirit. Everywhere she went, the sick became well, the lame healthy, and death seemed defeated.
  13.
  14. No one knew where she had gone or where she had gained her powers, but ever since her return Eden had remained mute, never again speaking a word. Rumors spread, that she had made some sort of deal for her power and sacrificed her speech, that the voices she had heard drove her mad and she had cut out her tongue to silence them, that her silent meditation was in reverence to some forgotten power that had blessed her, or the Gladekeeper herself.
  15.
  16. Whatever the reasons, she was silent. She became a nomad, wandering the world and healing as she went.
