  5. **Item #:** SCP-XXXX
  6.
  7. **Object Class:** Euclid
  8.
  9. **Special Containment Procedures:** Subject must be kept in a locked, windowless room with a solitary light source approximately 1.5 meters from the point of entry. Aside from the single light source, the remainder of the room **MUST** remain dark and unlit. Light source **MUST** extend to point of entry, no amount of darkness may be allowed between point of entry and light source under any circumstances. There is to be only one (1) point of entry for this particular specimen to allow for a consistent observation location.
  10. Under no circumstances may the entire room be lit. Nor may any use of night-vision equipment be used while in the containment area.
  11. Containment area is to be checked bi-weekly to make sure no new points of entry have been created by specimen or by staff.
  12.
  13. **Description:** Exact physical characteristics of specimen is nearly impossible to ascertain, but all eyewitness accounts of the specimen (both in containment and first sightings) confirm the specimen has a face of varying size and shape, with a solitary eye (usually near the left side of the face, although this varies depending on observer) that stares intently on whoever is observing it.
  14. (Note: Because of the various theories and speculations of this anomaly, the term ‘face’ and ‘mask’ will be used interchangeably throughout this article. Both terms refer to the only currently observable feature of the specimen.)
  15. It is unknown whether the specimen is composed a body separate from the mask. However, containment area is covered with scratch marks (first noted in first documented encounter and first containment area check), suggesting the specimen does indeed have some kind of a body. Attempts to actually observe this body have been disastrous (See N34 and N35 logs).
  16.
  17. Subject was first moved on-site 1971, with the extreme difficulty as noted by staff and researchers present. The subject was found at the Foundation itself, but moving it to a place where it could be contained proved difficult.
  18. Subject was first noticed by a staff member (who shall be referred to as D35) while reading unspecified materials in a dimly lit room. The D35 recalls becoming upset over what he was reading and glancing upwards, only to see a dimly lit face suspended above the ground. The face resembled a mask, except that it had one eye that seemed to be placed at an awkward position on the face, “right below where the left cheekbone should have been”. D35 was also quick to add the following piece of information to the description:
  19. “After I got over the fact that this damned mask had a big eye that was staring at me, I noticed that it seemed to move back and forth slightly, at if it was bobbing its head very slowly. Every once in a while the mask…or face, whatever it was, would move a few inches to the left or right. What was weird about that was it made the weird shuffling noises, but it made these clicking noises on the floor beneath it. I have a dog that makes that noise when she walks on my hardwood floors when her nails need to be clipped. That’s what it reminded me of.” – D35
  20. D35 then took his standard-issue flashlight from his work belt and turned it on, aiming it at the mask, at which point violent clicking noises could be heard and the mask was gone. Specimen could not be found by any of the search parties dispatched at the request of security. Scratch marks on the walls and floor were found, confirming the presence of some unknown entity.
  21. “Well at least we know he [D35] wasn’t just losing his mind…” – [REDACTED]
  22. Specimen was later sighted several weeks later by another staff member (D54) in a dimly lit hallway. This time, security was notified and arrived on the scene. The specimen didn’t move from its position just outside of a nearby light bulb in the hallway, however it’s face was still visible. Questioned staff personnel all confirmed many features of the face of the specimen, however some noted the eye was in a different location than previously asserted by D35.
  23. Researchers onsite devised a plan to corral the specimen into a suitable chamber using their flashlights, taking care to not directly shine the light past the mask of the specimen. After some careful maneuvering with the flashlights and light sources in the facility, the specimen was successfully driven into an open containment area.
  24. “I honestly can’t believe it worked. A few days ago some nobody in [DATA EXPUNGED] sector sees some face in the dark and the whole facility is put on high alert, and now we figure out it’s just afraid of a little light. I’m still not sure why this thing was so intent on looking at us though. …Once in a while it would sort of disappear from view for a few seconds, and everybody thought they had lost it, and then that face just sneaks back into our line of sight.” – Security Task Force [DATA EXPINGED].
