  1. Being Norman
  2.
  3. >"So as Ah was sayin' the Apple family was vital to the history of this town" Orange's grandma was telling us the story of how she came to this place and her family started their farm during dinner
  4. >Pink, Yellow, Orange and Orange's siblings look as if they had heard the story thousands of times, they probably did, but to me this is a new tale and quite an interesting one
  5. >Pink and me are here because of the little prank she and my parents played on me and Yellow, which for some reason got the Aryan beauty depressed, I guess she thought I wouldn't be a good enough guy for her best friend. She may be right, after all I'm the racist the school hates, some of that hate could have gone to Yellow if she was my girlfriend
  6. >Yellow is here because she likes to spend time with us and she gets to work with the animals she loves so much. I still think she shouldn't force herself too much to help us as she's not really fit for this kind of labor
  7. >I really like working here, it's a lot of effort, but I love farmwork; It's a surprisingly-satisfying alternative to Triple-XP weekends
  8. >Plus,I get to spend time with the girls and Red; Also, Orange's family always treats us to dinner which is delicious, and even more yummy after a hard day of work, I'd like it to have less apples in it, but I still enjoy it whole heartedly, specially the stories Granny Smith tells us
  9. >Is Orange's last name Smith? then, why are they the Apple family? nevermind, she'll still be Orange to me
  10. >Whenever I'm not working or hanging out with my friends while on the farm I like talking to Granny Smith. She can be a little excentric from time to time but she's nothing compared to my parents in that respect
  11. >Today I'm working on a different field that the others, and there's a sun that's practically burning everything, my hat is just not made for this sort of weather
  12. >Suddenly "Over here sonny, you dont wanna be under this heat with that hat, wear this instead" Granny Smith is so kind
  13.
  14. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________
  15.
  16. >She lent me the coolest cowboy hat I've ever seen
  17. >"Drink a bit of water too, Ah don't wanna see ya turnin' into a raisin" Granny Smith says
  18. >"Hahaha, that won't happen yet, don't worry" I replied joyfully as I accepted the hat and water
  19. >She Stayed there with me for almost one hour telling me stories of her son while I worked
  20. >"Ah'm too old to stand this heat, so Ah'm goin' home" I walk her back to her place and go to work once again "thanks sonny, yer such a good lad"
  21. >This hat is awesome, the sun doesn't bother me anymore, I can only feel a soft breeze that helps me remain fresh despite the heat and the arduous work of tilling fields
  22. >I could get used to living like this; sadly, no farm
  23. >Once I'm done with the field I go back to Orange's house to get my things and return home
  24. >As I arrive to the Apple family's house, I see Orange restlessly looking for something
  25. >"Hi Orange, what's up?" I'm a bit worried, but I ask her in a jovial tone
  26. >"I'm looking for-" her face seemed worried until she looked at me, then her expression turned into anger "gimme that hat right now"
  27. >"Okay, I came to give it back"
  28. >As soon as I put the hat into her reach, she forcefully takes it from my hands and puts it on her chest as if she was hugging it
  29. >"Don't even think of touchin' this hat ever again" she looks at me with a face full of anger
  30. >This hat must be very important to her because she hasn't stopped glaring at me during dinner, her stare feels like a knife
  31. >Of all the people that could hate be, Orange is the one that scares me the most, she's supper strong, not as much as her brother but he knows how to control his temper. On the other hand, she will give me hell if she sees it fit. I swallow my spit every time I notice her looking menacingly at me
  32. >As soon as she finishes eating, she stands up and says "good bye Fluttershy, Pinkie. Ah need to go to mah room" the floor trembles with every step she takes, and I the house almost falls down when she slams her door
  33.
  34. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
  35.
  36. >Once she was gone, Red sits by my side and speaks to me making sure no one else hears "The hat you were wearing was our dad's" I'm shocked as I hear that, I know their parents are dead, but I didn't know that awesome hat was their father's one "You should apologize to my Grandma because she can't see that hat without crying"
  37. >How strange, I was sure she was smiling when she lent it to me
  38. >I still, however, walk up to her and say "I'm sorry Granny Smith"
  39. >"Don't sweat it sonny, you should however go and talk to my Applejack; she's still a sensitive and frail little girl" that sensitive and frail little girl almost destroyed your house with a door slam "just stand outside her room and talk to her, she'll sure listen to you"
  40. >I obviously follow every word she says, because she sure knows her grandkids, and I don't want Orange to be angry at me, because she's not a delicate girl in my opinion
  41. >"Orange, I'm sorry, I didn't know that was your dad's hat" I hear a bit of sobbing from her room, but I just stand there in silence
  42. >After a while, she finally says "Are ya still there Norman?"
  43. >"Yes"
  44. >"Ah'm sorry Ah got angry at ya, it wasn't yer fault" she says with a calmer voice
  45. >"Don't worry, we all get mad from time to time and you actually had a reason to feel that way" I try to reassure her
  46. >"Thanks" she says "ya sould git goin', it's gettin' late"
  47. >"Will do, see you tomorrow"
  48. >I leave the place feeling a bit relieved after being forgiven by Orange
  49.
  50. Bein' Applejack
  51.
  52. >Once ev'ryone is gone, Ah go outta mah room
  53. >"How did Norman get mah dad's hat?" It was supposed to be in mah room
  54. >"Ah lent it to him" says Mah grandma
  55. >"Why did you lend that guy the memento of mah dad?"
  56. >"Lets say that the little fellow reminded me of mah sonny" What?
  57. >"But they don't look nothin' alike" Ah say annoyed
  58. >"Sometimes ya need to look past the appearances mah girl"
  59. >Ah'm happy that she didn't cry this time though
  60. _____________________________________________________________________________________________
  61.
  62. Being Norman
  63.
  64. >Another day of school comes to an end
  65. >After a long day of listening to "Check your privilege racist scum" I'm happy to go to the farm to vent my anger on the work
  66. >Today I'll chop a lot of wood; lets just act as if each stick was the head of one of my classmates. Today'll be a good day at the farm
  67. >On my way out of school, a pair of arms abducts me and pushes me into a corner. It's Orange
  68. >"Listen here and listen good Norman, Don't go to the farm today, you fulfilled yer sentence"
  69. >"What? I've still got like 3 weeks of labor left" I replied because I don't want to go back on my word of working there for a month
  70. >"Well, your sentence was lifted. Be happy, now you can spend more time with Rarity"
  71. >"Ha,ha" Is there someone who doesn't know I like the Aryan Beauty apart from herself?
  72. >"Thanks Orange but I promised a month and a month it'll be" Wow, I'm showing lots of resolve, then again I actually like going there to work
  73. >"Damnit Norman, why don't ya use this stubbornness of you to stand up against the ones who bully you?" good question indeed
  74. >"I don't care if I'm bullied, but I care about keeping my word" that should be a good enough answer
  75. >"Well, I don't care, just don't go near my grandma!" Orange's visibly annoyed
  76. >"But I like spending time with your grandma, she's just that cool"
  77. >"If Ah see ya near mah grandma Ah'll beat ya"
  78. >"Why are you being like this? what have I ever done to you?" now I'm getting angry
  79. >"Look, Ah'll just say that it's better for me and you if ya stop bein' such a good boy in front of mah granny" after saying this she glares at me once more and goes away
  80. >The hell is wrong with her? Anyways I guess I'll better follow Orange's instructions a bit. I guess I may have made Granny Smith think about her late son, which would explain why she lent me his hat, I hope I didn't make her sad without realizing
  81. >These thoughts fill my head as I make my way to Sweet Apple Acres
  82. ____________________________________________________________________________________________
  83.
  84. >Yellow and Pink join me on my way to the farm
  85. >They asked me why was I so lost in my thoughts
  86. >"Just thinking about The Aryan Beauty" I answered with a lie
  87. >What can I do for Orange to stop worrying about me spending do much time with her grandmother?
  88. >Why does she care so much in the first place, it's not like Granny Smith will lend me that hat again after what happened yesterday
  89. >I'll just act as I always do; if Orange likes it, good, if she doesn't, whatever. I also consider her Grandmother as a friend of mine
  90. >Despite that, I spend most of the day chopping wood with Red while the girls spend the day jarring apples
  91. >"So, how are things going with" he chuckles "The Aryan Beauty? how can you call her that way and not think you look like an idiot?" Red is usually very shy but we've become such good friends that he doesn't have problems being honest with me
  92. >"Ha, ha, so funny. Things are going, I think, at least she doesn't hate me. And of course I'd call her a beauty; you'll only understand that whe you fall in love with someone yourself" I spoke with haughty pride
  93. >"Well, Ah brought the topic because Ah might have found a beauty of mah own" Okay, these are some good news
  94. >"Awesome dude, to think you'd get a girlfriend before me" a mix of happiness and envy fills my heart
  95. "Well," Red reddens "she's not mah girlfriend, she's sorta like what you have with Rarity"
  96. >"So nothing yet then" My envy goes away, though I'm still happy for him; afterall, being in love is a wonderful thing
  97. >"Eeyup," he answers while looking at his toes "It's just that Ah just can't speak when she's near me"
  98. >"Red, you can never speak. You really need to break the ice. By the way, who's the lucky girl?"
  99. >"Have you heard about a white girl called Rarity?"
  100. >I just glared at him with a face that could only express hate
  101. >He laughs and says "she's not the one; the one I like is Cherilee, the library assistant"
  102. >"Bro, I'll help you through this, you'll be dating her in no time"
  103. _______________________________________________________
  104.
  105.
  106. >Or so I say, I still haven't got a ghost of a chance in wooing The Aryan Beauty. Red, however, can get a chance with almost any girl he puts his eyes on, he just need to make them see all the good qualities he has
  107. >"I know exactly what you need to do" I say with confidence "write her a love letter, with that you'll break the ice and make her notice you. Once she starts paying attention to you, you'll have her in your arms in no time"
  108. >"Ya think so?" he asks me. I can see that my speech filled him with hope
  109. >"Of course bro, you can get any girl you want, you just need to let them know how good you actually are. Now, tell me what you think about Cherilee so I can help you make that letter into the most romantic thing ever"
  110. >"Shouldn't we tone down the romance a bit?" he asks "Ah think that being so straight forward about this will only scare her"
  111. >"And that's why you have no girlfriend" Says me, the hell is wrong with me? "If you don't tell her how you feel right away, you'll never do; just look at me"
  112. >I've just realized what's wrong with me, I don't want my friend to be forever in doubt like I am, I'll give him a little push to help him get results from his efforts in wooing her
  113. >"Come on, start talking and tell me what you like about her"
  114. >As he speaks about the girl he loves, I write down all he says; once he's done I add my personal touch and create the most romantic letter ever
  115. >Red blushes as he reads my letter, it seems I captured all his feelings in that letter
  116. >"Norman" he says "Ah really like this letter, but there are lots of things here that Ah wouldn't say"
  117. >"Trust me on this Red, she'll like it, and when she speaks to you, you need to ask her for a date immediately. It'll sweep her off her feet"
  118. >"Okay, but, Ah have another favor to ask ya, could you give her the letter for me?"
  119. >"C'mon bro, you shouldn't be so shy. though the letter has your name on it so there should be no problem"
  120. >"Thanks dude" we bump fists and finish our job for the day
  121. _________________________
  122.
  123.
  124. >As we get back to the house, I see my parents car parked outside
  125. >whatever is going on there, it can't be good
  126. >I run towards the building and red follows suit
  127. >In there, I see my mom jarring apples with the girls
  128. >"Hi mom," manners go first "why are you here?" I asked as soon as I got in the house
  129. >"Can't a mother visit her son at his work?" she cries crocodile tears, but I'm not believing any of it; so I just glare at her
  130. >Orange however, "Norman, ya shouldn't treat yer mother this way!" says this while patting mom's back
  131. >Mom can't hold her laughter "hahahaha, you're such a good girl, my Norman could really learn a thing or two from you" Granny Smith also laughs once mom does her little bait and switch trick
  132. >"And, where's my dad?" I ask without caring at all for the previous scene
  133. >"Lets say your dad is in a bit of a bind right now" a sinister smile crosses her face, and for some reason I don't like the sound of that
  134.
  135. Being Norman's dad
  136.
  137. >Deary, I don't know how you convinced me to wear these handcuffs, but well played
  138. >My only wish is that you had left the remote in my reach
  139. >Why, for the love of God, why did you have to do this to me with a Care Bears marathon showing on tv?
  140.
  141. Being Norman's mom
  142.
  143. >Now I have my little boy all for myself. though here on the farm there's really no time to tease him, there's a lot of work to do here, I can't believe my boy is doing all this. I'm so proud
  144. >What I like the most though is that he's winning the favor of the best girl's family; now he only need to realize that the apple girl is the best one for him
  145. >While the kids where talking to eachother, the old apple lady came near me and told me "Yer boy's such a good lad, he reminds me of mah own late boy. He'd be a good addition to the Apple fammily" she looks at me as if she knew exactly what I'm thinking. this must be the fruit of experience
  146. >"I also think your girl would be a good addition to my family"
  147. >We shake hands and smile to each other
  148. ____________
  149.
  150. >I came here to be a matchmaker, but I didn't think I'd find an ally as influential as the girl's grand mother. Coming here was a good idea after all
  151. >The girl my hubby likes for Norman already had her chance, now it's time for apples
  152.
  153. Being Norman
  154.
  155. >It seems mom and Granny Smith like eachother a lot, because they haven't stopped talking and laughing
  156. >I don't know why, but I'm not liking this
  157. >They keep speaking to each other until the time we had to go, so no stories today
  158. >"Norman, ya should always listen to what your mom tells you as the good boy you are. See you tomorrow"
  159. >The good side of mom's coming is that we don't have to walk back home
  160. >During the ride, Pink sat besides my mom
  161. >"So," mom says "how much are you betting this time"
  162. >"I don't think I'll be playing that game anymore" says Pink with a bit of a sad look in her face
  163. >Yellow and me just look at each other not understanding their conversation
  164. >We take the girls to their homes and go back to our own place
  165. >When I open the door, I see that my dad is handcuffed to a radiator
  166. >"Who's that comin' from somewhere up in the sky? Moving fast and bright as a firefly just when you think the trouble's gonna pounce Who's gonna be there when it really counts? Do the Care Bears Countdown 5, 4, 3, 2, 1"
  167. >My dad keeps singing that unholy song while the TV shows a Care Bears marathon. His eyes show that his spirit is broken
  168. >"Mom! dad went nuts!" I yell in desperation
  169. >She comes running to him after hearing me
  170. >"Answer me dear please" she begs my dad with tears in her eyes, thess ones are real
  171. >She hugs dad still crying. I really don't know what to do right now
  172. >Suddenly he kisses her lips "hahaha, you fell for it"
  173. >My mom gives him a light punch in the gut "never do that again, didn't you see how worried Norman was"
  174. >"I won't do it again I swear" what an empty promise, if I could coun't all the times you've said that
  175. >Mom and dad kiss again as I go up to my room
  176. >I can't stand my parents
  177. _____________________________________________________
  178.
  179. >A new day, a new adventure
  180. >"Norman's matchmaking service starts today" I joke in my room speaking as if I was in a tv show "Our first client, Red A.K.A. BigMcintosh, has got a crush on Cherilee, the library assistant. A love letter and a romantic dinner is the combo that will join these two souls into a couple. As you can see, our big guy is too shy to express his feelings directly, so our host, Norman, will give this hunk the little push he needs
  181. >After that, comes the jingle " Norman, Matchmaking Service "
  182. >"Hahahaha, don't you think that the Norman Matchmaking Service should help it's host confess his love to a certain Beauty?" a voice in my room scares me out of my little game
  183. >"Uwaaaah, Pink, how did you get here!"
  184. >"Hi Normy, don't you remember your parents gave me a key silly?" She says "get ready for school, we're running late"
  185. >I get ready as fast as I can while Pink has breakfast in my kitchen. My parents gave her a key after that time I got depressed, so she could, in their words, come and lift my spirit. However, as I haven't been depressed, she just comes to be a nuissance, waking me up early even when there's no school, taking photos of my sleeping face and using pranks to wake me up; in short, she's my parents al over again. They get the fun of teasing me without lifting a finger
  186. >Once I'm ready, we leave for school
  187. >"To think that Bigmac had a thing for bookworms" says Pink on our way to school "I want to see Applejack's face when she finds out"
  188. >I put my hands on her shoulders and say "You can't tell Orange or anyone else, okay? if anyone else gets to know about this, Red won't trust me ever again. So promise not to tell anyone about this"
  189. >"I Pinkie promise!" she does her stupid chant "but seriously, you should use your romancing techniques on Rarity, she may like them"
  190. >"Nah, she wouldn't fall for me just because of some flowery words, I'm not even half the man she deserves"
  191. >"Norman, I swear to God!" Pink says enraged
  192. _______________________________________________
  193.
  194. >Pink gets away annoyed, stomping the floor and kicking stones
  195. >Aside from that, the day goes as it normally does, until clases are over
  196. >It's time!
  197. >With the love letter at hand, I run to the library
  198. >On my way there I see Orange "Yo, Orange! can you tell Granny Smith that I won't go to work today?" I yell at her
  199. >"Okay!" she yells back
  200. >I hope Granny smith doesn't mind me skipping work
  201. >Once all that is done, I go and enter the library
  202. >Cherilee is doing all the work here despite being a student. She most likely volunteered to work here
  203. >Whenever she sees you with a troubled face in the library, she comes to help you out she always knows what book is the one you need and you always get good grades when she helps you, she would be a great teacher, I think I saw her reading books to children in the public library once
  204. >I can see why Red would fall in love with her, she's got the whole package, looks, kindness, intelligence, easily a 7/10 in my book. She obviously doesn't compare to The Aryan Beauty. It's for that reason that I think the techniques from all those romantic movies I've watched may work on her, The Aryan Beauty may be too refined for these kinds of tricks, but a normal girl is sure to be swept off her feet
  205. >Wow, things are really hectic here, it's as if Cherilee could multiply herself to do all the things she does here
  206. >I was thinking of leaving the letter on a desk for her to find it but, seeing how busy she is, she may not see it. I'm going to have to give it to her in person
  207. >I approach her and say "Excuse me, there was a letter on the desk I was sitting on, and I think it's for you"
  208. >As my reoutation precedes me, Cherilee is wary of me; however, when she notices her name in the letter, she accepts it with no complaints
  209. >"Well then, later" I really don't know what to say to her, I don't know her that much
  210. >She just looks at me and nods "good bye and thanks"
  211. >I can see her smiling and blushing a bit when she reads the letter.
  212. >It's working
  213. _____________________________
  214.
  215. >Objective 1 accomplished, now I must tell Red to wait at the accorded place
  216.
  217. Being Rarity
  218.
  219. >Ever since Pinkie, Fluttershy and Norman started working at Sweet Apple Acres I've been so bored that I can't even inspire myself to design. So, I'll look for inspiration in the works of others; lets go to the library
  220. >Is that Norman running out of the library? I'd greet him, but he seems to be in a hurry
  221. >He must be running late to hi his work on the farm. He didn't even notice me. To be fair, he ran in the opposite direction from me; but I would have still liked to have him look at me
  222. >Anyways, it's good to see that he's earnest. I should be as enthusiastic as he is with my own job
  223. >When I enter the library, I witness an uncommon scene; Cherilee is not jumping from bookshelf to bookshelf as usual, instead, she's sitting at a desk reading a piece of paper
  224. >She seems to be lost in her thoughts
  225. >I don't want to be taken for a busybody, but seeing her with her head on the clouds really makes me wonder what's in that paper
  226. >"Hello there Cherilee!" my greeting gets her out of her trance "I can't help but notice that you seem unusually distracted today. May I ask why?"
  227. >"Hi Rarity" I've known her for a while and I've never seen her with such a mixture of feelings, she seems happy and worried at the same time "it's just that the racist boy, Norbert I think, gave me this love letter"
  228. >What? that can't be, Norman barely knows Cherilee, he can't have fallen in love with her!
  229. >"Don't worry, the letter was not from him, he just found it on a desk" phew, it's good to know that "if these letter was his I wouldn't have accepted it in the first place; that guy's scary"
  230. >Come on Cherilee, you can't be like the rest of the school. I still understand what you mean though; all those rumors do make Norman seem like a bad person
  231. >"So," I say. I'm slightly annoyed, but I won't let it show "why do you look so worried?"
  232. >"This letter is from the guy I like" she says
  233. >"That's wonderful"
  234. _____________________________________________
  235.
  236. >"The problem is," Cherilee says "that this letter is so intense that it doesn't feel as if he worte this at all, so this may be some joke Norland is trying to play on me"
  237. >Come on Cherilee, what has Norman ever done to you "It just so happens that Norman is one of my friends, and I guarantee you that he wouldn't joke with such a delicate matter"
  238. >"How can you be friends with such a scary guy, I heard he kidnapped Fluttershy's pet bunny and asked for a videogame console as a ransom" that was a misunderstanding though "and then when everyone gave him the honor of being paired up with Fluttershy, he just went and said he would never go out with a yellow aberration" I'm pretty sure those were not the words he used. Why does he always make things worse for himself when trying to fix something, it's as if there was some kind of external force driving him to take bad decisions just for it's amusement
  239. >This is no time to ponder about the misteries of life, I wan't to see if I can help Cherilee as she has done many times for me
  240. >"I happen to be an expert in romance" I've watched many movies and read a lot of books about romantic stories "I could give you some counseling, if you want." she nods "Let me see that letter"
  241. >She reluctantly hands it to me; I read it and, "This is the most romantic letter I've ever read" not even the ones in the movies hold this much passion
  242. >"There's no way this letter is fake, you should go to the meeting place and talk to him"
  243. >"But this letter is so intense, it's hard to believe it was written by BigMcintosh" she says
  244. >"Look, this is just how much he loves you, he's just so shy that he can't tell you about the passion his heart contains" I'd love to have someone love me like that, but it most likely won't happen. I wonder how would Norman act if he was in love with me
  245. >"Just go and I'll tell you how to act, you like Bigmac afterall, right?"
  246. >"Yes, Iike him"
  247. >"Then. I shall be your cupid"
  248. ___________________________________________

  251.
  252. >Ah'm finally back at mah place. Now's mah chance to convince mah grandma that Norman is not such a dependable guy afterall
  253. >"Grandma, Norman won't be comin' today" hehehe, you're so proud of him anymore, right?
  254. >"Oh, I already know, BigMcintosh told me that the little fellow would be helping him with something today. How responsible of him to excuse himself" darn it, is there no way to get that out of your head?
  255. >"Also," Grandma continues "from tomorrow on, you'll be working side by side with Norman"
  256. >"What? why? shouldn't he work with Bigmac?"
  257. >"Look sugarcube" she says "when you leave boys alone, they can only do two things, speak about girls or stupid stunts. And Ah aint gonna wait for the second thing to happen!"
  258. >"Hahaha, you found them talkin' about girls? but there's nothing wrong with that"
  259. >"Every second they spend chit-chattin' is a second they don't spend workin'"
  260. >So they are bein' separated for slackin' I can't help but find it funny. It also works for me because mah grandma is seein' that the little man is not as good as she thinks he is

  264. >Hehehe, you're fallin' right into mah trick sugarcube
  265. >To think that you actually think I'm separating the boys as a punishment. They're actually quite the good workers
  266. >Once you spend time with mah little fellow you'll start seein' him in the way I do
  267. >Look at her workin' so happily with her friends. Bait and switch always works
  268. >I love seein' her smile like this, specially when she's unknowingly doin' somethin' for me against her will
  269. >Time to call mah sugarcube's mother in law
  270. >"Hello. Ah'm fine thank you. Oooh yeah today's episode was great, I recorded it for you..."
  271. (Thirty minutes later)
  272. >"So as Ah was sayin' from tomorrow on, our lttle lovebirds are gonna be spendin' a lot of time together. See ya later"

  285. >Wow, Norman, you're a really good friend, but you can be so pushy at times. It's no wonder Applejack doesn't like you that much; you can be very similar at times
  286. >"Eeyup"
  287. >"And remember to invite her to a date after you tell her how much you love her, this is your chance to impress her despite your shyness, you already broke her defenses with that letter. If she comes it's because she likes you; that wouldn't surprise me at all because you're one of the coolest guys ever. So go get her tiger" he says
  288. >Ah can't believe you actually think Ah'm cool, you're a pretty cool guy too. But right now Ah understand what you mean when you complain about Pinkie never shutting up
  289. >"Eeyup"
  290. >"Look," Norman says "there she comes, remember my advices and do your best"
