- > I awaken from my slumber in my house
- > I feel an impending sense of dread
- > I know the worst is about to unfold
- > I continue my day, weary of what might happen
- > the day goes without a disturbance
- > I fall to slumber
- > I awaken late in the night
- > the ground trembles
- > I immediately rush outside
- > I see the Chariots of war
- > I am utterly stunned
- > a rain of fire falls from the sky
- > I, among many others, flee
- > those around me are struck by fire
- > they collapse, severely burned
- > the town is lit ablaze as we flee from our homes
- > We seek refuge in the Pharaoh's palace
- > I gain immediate entrance
- > "Anon! Come immediately!"
- > I go into a room, where the pharaoh, among some decorated others, sit with faces of stone
- > "the humans have attacked"
- > I nearly fall over at this news
- But how.....?
- > "We don't know, but we need to know how to defeat them"
- > I ponder, my eyes shifting as I consider our options
- We must rout the Chariots, they are the primary component of the Pharaoh's army
- > the horse pharaoh continues her stone stare
- > "How do we defeat them"
- it will be difficult. Their maneuverability will cause problems.
- > "Leave, we shall plan. You will take you spot among the royal guards and fight"
- As you wish
- > I leave the room, unable to clear my head
- > I follow some guards as they rush to form their ranks
- > a spear and shield are mine as we take formation outside the town
- > the thunderous hoof beats of the army of chariots echoes through the still air
- >gradually, the chariots come into view
- > the figures grow in size as they approach
- > a black form appears from the cluster of chariots
- > at first, I am mystified, but soon enough I realize
- Arrows!
- > I, and the others in formation, raise their shields
- > my arm tenses and holds firmly as a torrent of arrows pelt my shield
- > the volley lasts many minutes
- > finally a horn is heard
- > the hoofbeats approach
- > the chariots close the gap quickly
- > the formation dissolves as we engage in close combat
- > I strike my fellow men
- > I wound one, an archer, in the chest
- > I barely deflect a strike from the spearman in the same chariot
- > I turn and impale the arm of a driver
- > among the chaos, I notice one chariot
- > elaborately decorated, with a man wearing strong, heavy armor
- > two other chariots bestride him, each, with a being not of this realm.
- > As I approach the two beings become recognizable
- > Anhur, a lion headed man brandishing a lance
- > Menhit, she who massacres, a lion headed woman wielding a bow with arrows of fire
- > I break through and rush the chariots
- > a bolt of fire defeats my shield
- > a deafening roar resounds as a spear is thrust at me
- > I dodge left
- > I charge at the pharaoh
- > a bolt strikes me in the calf
- > I fall to the ground
- > I feel the pressure of the spear as it jabs into my back
- > the sound of the battlefield falls silent
- > I open my eyes to find myself in the horse pharaoh's palace
- > the horse pharaoh looks to me
- > "We need a solution Anon, how do we defeat him?"
- He has the help of the war gods
- > "What are you trying to say?"
- Anhur and Menhit, brutal gods of war who lust for blood and are more adept at the martial arts than any man. Had you not summoned me, I would have perished by their hand
- > "how do we stop them?"
- I fear there is no way
- > as I speak, the castle shakes
- > a guard rushes in
- > "your highness, the enemy are within the city"
- > "Hold your ground! Give them no mercy!"
- > the guard rushes off, to give her order
- I have yet to receive any aid from the gods, I fear they side with the enemy.
- > "Is there truly no hope?"
- none that I can see
- > "then all is lost"
- > the horse pharaoh looks to me in great sadness
- I will do my part to halt the enemy
- > I depart, with a new shield, and a sword
- > I find the guards at the wall
- > the enemy is sieging the wall
- > arrows of fire land nearby
- > at the wall, I spot a line of dismounted charioteers
- > I direct the horned horses
- > a volley of heka is launched, and several charioteers violently explode as they are hit
- > the morale of the line quickly dissipates as their comrades are vanquished
- > the line breaks
- > they turn and flee
- > a cheer sounds along the wall
- > the celebration is too soon
- > the pharaoh rides his chariot, and rallies the men
- > they reform, assured of victory
- > the spearmen charge the wall, and attempt to climb
- > I draw my sword
- > the fighting is gruesome
- > the narrow walkway is cluttered with bodies, limbs, and a flood of blood
- > the enemies spears form a wall, and push
- > gradually the enemy gains the upperhand
- > a few cover the retreat of the army off the wall
- > I am one of the few
- > a blur rapidly approaches
- > I stab at the blur, determined to kill any threat
- > I find my sword wrenched from my hand
- > I fall over from the shift in balance
- > Anhur is standing over me, a bloodlust in his eyes
- > his teeth gleam a fearsome shine
- > "I will enjoy this, favored one"
- > he descends, teeth bared
- > I throw a punch, as a desperate measure to ensure my life
- > a dagger penetrates the skin of Anhur
- > Anhur lets out a bellow
- > "curse you, favored one"
- > a blast of magic hits Anhur, stunning him
- > I scramble for safety
- > I manage my way to the castle
- > many wounded are being tended to
- > arrow wounds, open punctures, and some with missing limbs
- > all bleeding profusely
- > I take a moment to collect my thoughts
- > the dagger was a good omen. A god sent his favor
- > which god?
- > the dagger would suggest Amun
- > THE creator god himself
- > I must inform the horse pharaoh
- Pharaoh! I have a solution
- > "what is it, Anon?"
- Amun has given us his blessing, we may win yet
- > "it's a tough battle ahead, victory or no"
- > the horse pharaoh dawns golden plates of armor on her neck, hooves, body, and head
- > "I intend to protect my realm"
- > awe is inspired as I see the leader preparing for battle
- > We head to the conflict
- > bodies lay strewn across the landscape
- > more yet are being put to rest as the battle rages
- > the horse pharaoh ascends, blasting bolts of sun on those below
- > I rush into battle as well, adeptly slashing down those who stand against me
- > I cut down men, aiding those who are engaged in combat nearby
- > As I clear out the last of those in my area, I take a moment to observe the horse pharaoh
- > Menhit has taken notice, as the horse pharaoh dodges fire bolts
- > the pharaoh returns fire, striking Menhit in the knee
- > using the moment of weakness, the pharaoh strikes with a beam of light
- > Menhit is vanquished as her body ceases to be
- > a blur approaches the horse pharaoh from below
- > She is taken out of the sky as Anhur grabs her
- > She lets out a cry as a stab is delivered to her flank
- > I feel my hand grasp a new object
- > Aten has sent me a bow
- > I draw the string, take aim, and strike Anhur in the back with a bolt of sun
- > he releases the horse pharaoh, but refuses to surrender
- > the horse pharaoh falls to the ground, unconscious and bleeding
- > Anhur throws his lance, shattering my bow as I defend
- > A human steps between Anhur and I
- > Before I strike down the human, I become aware that the human bares an aura
- > Anhur stops
- > "Amun, you fool, what are you doing?!"
- > "Restoring Ma'at", the human speaks with a austere, yet mild voice
- > "We are expanding the domain of the gods!"
- > "You are destroying my creations"
- > "Such is war!"
- > Anhur leaps, only to be blasted away by Amun
- > " I cannot allow you to continue this devastation"
- > Anhur seizes, and collapses, as if struck by venom
- > Anhur becomes dust before the eyes of Amun
- > Amun turns to me
- > "You have fought valiantly, and continue to do so, the gods are in your favor"
- > I can do nothing but smile and shed a tear of joy
- > Amun dissolves, returning to his realm
- > I rush to the horse pharaoh, who is regaining consciousness
- > "what's the status of the battle?"
- > Anubites bound from the castle and engage the Pharaoh's army
- > Khepri's Scarabs climb from the earth, devouring those in the swarm
- > The bodies of fallen warriors are reinvigorated by the work of Osiris
- > I look to the horse pharaoh
- > "the gods are in our favor"
- > the horse pharaoh collapses
- > I, and several others, assist her to the castle
- > the caretakers rush her immediately for assistance
- > I watch from above as the battle unfolds
- > the pharaoh's army is almost entirely routed
- > they flee from the army of the gods
- > I go down to help finish the fight
- > I chase down men, defeating them as they flee
- > I hear the shrill cry of a falcon
- > A bird circles
- > below the bird I find a familiar man
- > the pharaoh
- > I grab hold of him
- > "favored one, why do you betray your people?"
- I betray no one. I am restoring Ma'at, which you allowed to fall to the powers of Set. You betrayed the gods.
- > the falcon dives, and grabs onto the crown of the pharaoh
- > The pharaoh begs for mercy
- > He receives none
- > The mind that lead this terrible conflict is severed from its vessel
- > the falcon takes the crown, and lands it onto my head
- > the falcon lands on my shoulder
- > I turn to find the army of the horses looking to me
- > the falcon cries out
- > I let forth a roar of victory, and hold my sword high
- > the army cheers
- > the day is ours
- > I await anxiously for the status of the horse pharaoh
- > I assume command in her absence
- > the army is sent to issue martial law and to rebuild and restore the land
- > the horse pharaoh's status is revealed
- > she is weak, but stable
- > I visit her on her bed
- Order is being restored as we speak
- > "very good..... pharaoh"
- > I blush, unaccustomed to my title
- > rebuilding society is slow
- > gradually, the horse pharaoh's health is restored, as is the land's
- > I visit the horse pharaoh one last time
- > "Hello, Pharaoh Anon"
- Greetings to you too, Pharaoh.
- > "How are things going?"
- Progressing, though I must depart
- > "I understand, you now have responsibilities of your own"
- I shall maintain contact with you from my land
- > "I shall look forward to a time of peaceful prosperity between our lands"
- > I depart, and claim my throne as the new Pharaoh of Egypt
