  1. > I awaken from my slumber in my house
  2. > I feel an impending sense of dread
  3. > I know the worst is about to unfold
  4. > I continue my day, weary of what might happen
  5. > the day goes without a disturbance
  6. > I fall to slumber
  7. > I awaken late in the night
  8. > the ground trembles
  9. > I immediately rush outside
  10. > I see the Chariots of war
  11. > I am utterly stunned
  12. > a rain of fire falls from the sky
  13. > I, among many others, flee
  14. > those around me are struck by fire
  15. > they collapse, severely burned
  16. > the town is lit ablaze as we flee from our homes
  17. > We seek refuge in the Pharaoh's palace
  18. > I gain immediate entrance
  19. > "Anon! Come immediately!"
  20. > I go into a room, where the pharaoh, among some decorated others, sit with faces of stone
  21. > "the humans have attacked"
  22. > I nearly fall over at this news
  23. But how.....?
  24. > "We don't know, but we need to know how to defeat them"
  25. > I ponder, my eyes shifting as I consider our options
  26. We must rout the Chariots, they are the primary component of the Pharaoh's army
  27. > the horse pharaoh continues her stone stare
  28. > "How do we defeat them"
  29. it will be difficult. Their maneuverability will cause problems.
  30. > "Leave, we shall plan. You will take you spot among the royal guards and fight"
  31. As you wish
  32. > I leave the room, unable to clear my head
  33. > I follow some guards as they rush to form their ranks
  34. > a spear and shield are mine as we take formation outside the town
  35. > the thunderous hoof beats of the army of chariots echoes through the still air
  36. >gradually, the chariots come into view
  37. > the figures grow in size as they approach
  38. > a black form appears from the cluster of chariots
  39. > at first, I am mystified, but soon enough I realize
  40. Arrows!
  41. > I, and the others in formation, raise their shields
  42. > my arm tenses and holds firmly as a torrent of arrows pelt my shield
  43. > the volley lasts many minutes
  44. > finally a horn is heard
  45. > the hoofbeats approach
  46. > the chariots close the gap quickly
  47. > the formation dissolves as we engage in close combat
  48. > I strike my fellow men
  49. > I wound one, an archer, in the chest
  50. > I barely deflect a strike from the spearman in the same chariot
  51. > I turn and impale the arm of a driver
  52. > among the chaos, I notice one chariot
  53. > elaborately decorated, with a man wearing strong, heavy armor
  54. > two other chariots bestride him, each, with a being not of this realm.
  55. > As I approach the two beings become recognizable
  56. > Anhur, a lion headed man brandishing a lance
  57. > Menhit, she who massacres, a lion headed woman wielding a bow with arrows of fire
  58. > I break through and rush the chariots
  59. > a bolt of fire defeats my shield
  60. > a deafening roar resounds as a spear is thrust at me
  61. > I dodge left
  62. > I charge at the pharaoh
  63. > a bolt strikes me in the calf
  64. > I fall to the ground
  65. > I feel the pressure of the spear as it jabs into my back
  66. > the sound of the battlefield falls silent
  67. > I open my eyes to find myself in the horse pharaoh's palace
  68. > the horse pharaoh looks to me
  69. > "We need a solution Anon, how do we defeat him?"
  70. He has the help of the war gods
  71. > "What are you trying to say?"
  72. Anhur and Menhit, brutal gods of war who lust for blood and are more adept at the martial arts than any man. Had you not summoned me, I would have perished by their hand
  73. > "how do we stop them?"
  74. I fear there is no way
  75. > as I speak, the castle shakes
  76. > a guard rushes in
  77. > "your highness, the enemy are within the city"
  78. > "Hold your ground! Give them no mercy!"
  79. > the guard rushes off, to give her order
  80. I have yet to receive any aid from the gods, I fear they side with the enemy.
  81. > "Is there truly no hope?"
  82. none that I can see
  83. > "then all is lost"
  84. > the horse pharaoh looks to me in great sadness
  85. I will do my part to halt the enemy
  86. > I depart, with a new shield, and a sword
  87. > I find the guards at the wall
  88. > the enemy is sieging the wall
  89. > arrows of fire land nearby
  90. > at the wall, I spot a line of dismounted charioteers
  91. > I direct the horned horses
  92. > a volley of heka is launched, and several charioteers violently explode as they are hit
  93. > the morale of the line quickly dissipates as their comrades are vanquished
  94. > the line breaks
  95. > they turn and flee
  96. > a cheer sounds along the wall
  97. > the celebration is too soon
  98. > the pharaoh rides his chariot, and rallies the men
  99. > they reform, assured of victory
  100. > the spearmen charge the wall, and attempt to climb
  101. > I draw my sword
  102. > the fighting is gruesome
  103. > the narrow walkway is cluttered with bodies, limbs, and a flood of blood
  104. > the enemies spears form a wall, and push
  105. > gradually the enemy gains the upperhand
  106. > a few cover the retreat of the army off the wall
  107. > I am one of the few
  108. > a blur rapidly approaches
  109. > I stab at the blur, determined to kill any threat
  110. > I find my sword wrenched from my hand
  111. > I fall over from the shift in balance
  112. > Anhur is standing over me, a bloodlust in his eyes
  113. > his teeth gleam a fearsome shine
  114. > "I will enjoy this, favored one"
  115. > he descends, teeth bared
  116. > I throw a punch, as a desperate measure to ensure my life
  117. > a dagger penetrates the skin of Anhur
  118. > Anhur lets out a bellow
  119. > "curse you, favored one"
  120. > a blast of magic hits Anhur, stunning him
  121. > I scramble for safety
  122. > I manage my way to the castle
  123. > many wounded are being tended to
  124. > arrow wounds, open punctures, and some with missing limbs
  125. > all bleeding profusely
  126. > I take a moment to collect my thoughts
  127. > the dagger was a good omen. A god sent his favor
  128. > which god?
  129. > the dagger would suggest Amun
  130. > THE creator god himself
  131. > I must inform the horse pharaoh
  132. Pharaoh! I have a solution
  133. > "what is it, Anon?"
  134. Amun has given us his blessing, we may win yet
  135. > "it's a tough battle ahead, victory or no"
  136. > the horse pharaoh dawns golden plates of armor on her neck, hooves, body, and head
  137. > "I intend to protect my realm"
  138. > awe is inspired as I see the leader preparing for battle
  139. > We head to the conflict
  140. > bodies lay strewn across the landscape
  141. > more yet are being put to rest as the battle rages
  142. > the horse pharaoh ascends, blasting bolts of sun on those below
  143. > I rush into battle as well, adeptly slashing down those who stand against me
  144. > I cut down men, aiding those who are engaged in combat nearby
  145. > As I clear out the last of those in my area, I take a moment to observe the horse pharaoh
  146. > Menhit has taken notice, as the horse pharaoh dodges fire bolts
  147. > the pharaoh returns fire, striking Menhit in the knee
  148. > using the moment of weakness, the pharaoh strikes with a beam of light
  149. > Menhit is vanquished as her body ceases to be
  150. > a blur approaches the horse pharaoh from below
  151. > She is taken out of the sky as Anhur grabs her
  152. > She lets out a cry as a stab is delivered to her flank
  153. > I feel my hand grasp a new object
  154. > Aten has sent me a bow
  155. > I draw the string, take aim, and strike Anhur in the back with a bolt of sun
  156. > he releases the horse pharaoh, but refuses to surrender
  157. > the horse pharaoh falls to the ground, unconscious and bleeding
  158. > Anhur throws his lance, shattering my bow as I defend
  159. > A human steps between Anhur and I
  160. > Before I strike down the human, I become aware that the human bares an aura
  161. > Anhur stops
  162. > "Amun, you fool, what are you doing?!"
  163. > "Restoring Ma'at", the human speaks with a austere, yet mild voice
  164. > "We are expanding the domain of the gods!"
  165. > "You are destroying my creations"
  166. > "Such is war!"
  167. > Anhur leaps, only to be blasted away by Amun
  168. > " I cannot allow you to continue this devastation"
  169. > Anhur seizes, and collapses, as if struck by venom
  170. > Anhur becomes dust before the eyes of Amun
  171. > Amun turns to me
  172. > "You have fought valiantly, and continue to do so, the gods are in your favor"
  173. > I can do nothing but smile and shed a tear of joy
  174. > Amun dissolves, returning to his realm
  175. > I rush to the horse pharaoh, who is regaining consciousness
  176. > "what's the status of the battle?"
  177. > Anubites bound from the castle and engage the Pharaoh's army
  178. > Khepri's Scarabs climb from the earth, devouring those in the swarm
  179. > The bodies of fallen warriors are reinvigorated by the work of Osiris
  180. > I look to the horse pharaoh
  181. > "the gods are in our favor"
  182. > the horse pharaoh collapses
  183. > I, and several others, assist her to the castle
  184. > the caretakers rush her immediately for assistance
  185. > I watch from above as the battle unfolds
  186. > the pharaoh's army is almost entirely routed
  187. > they flee from the army of the gods
  188. > I go down to help finish the fight
  189. > I chase down men, defeating them as they flee
  190. > I hear the shrill cry of a falcon
  191. > A bird circles
  192. > below the bird I find a familiar man
  193. > the pharaoh
  194. > I grab hold of him
  195. > "favored one, why do you betray your people?"
  196. I betray no one. I am restoring Ma'at, which you allowed to fall to the powers of Set. You betrayed the gods.
  197. > the falcon dives, and grabs onto the crown of the pharaoh
  198. > The pharaoh begs for mercy
  199. > He receives none
  200. > The mind that lead this terrible conflict is severed from its vessel
  201. > the falcon takes the crown, and lands it onto my head
  202. > the falcon lands on my shoulder
  203. > I turn to find the army of the horses looking to me
  204. > the falcon cries out
  205. > I let forth a roar of victory, and hold my sword high
  206. > the army cheers
  207. > the day is ours
  208. > I await anxiously for the status of the horse pharaoh
  209. > I assume command in her absence
  210. > the army is sent to issue martial law and to rebuild and restore the land
  211. > the horse pharaoh's status is revealed
  212. > she is weak, but stable
  213. > I visit her on her bed
  214. Order is being restored as we speak
  215. > "very good..... pharaoh"
  216. > I blush, unaccustomed to my title
  217. > rebuilding society is slow
  218. > gradually, the horse pharaoh's health is restored, as is the land's
  219. > I visit the horse pharaoh one last time
  220. > "Hello, Pharaoh Anon"
  221. Greetings to you too, Pharaoh.
  222. > "How are things going?"
  223. Progressing, though I must depart
  224. > "I understand, you now have responsibilities of your own"
  225. I shall maintain contact with you from my land
  226. > "I shall look forward to a time of peaceful prosperity between our lands"
  227. > I depart, and claim my throne as the new Pharaoh of Egypt
