- Setting up Online Play
- -----------------------------------------------------------
- [0) purchase Yatagarasu from ricedigital.co.uk/store/yatagarasu]
- 1) Open UDP ports 50055 ~ 50057 on your router for your computer. (I will not teach you how to open ports, there are millions of explanations online)
- 2) In your Yatagarasu folder there is a pdf file which is an instruction manual for the game. In it, they remind you:
- "As Yatagarasu is a Japanese program we recommend running it through Microsoft Applocale as it may not function properly without it. You can download and install Microsoft Applocale here:"
- (When you play Yatagarasu, run it using AppLocale)
- 3) Open "Yatagarasu Launcher" in your Yatagarasu folder.
- 4) In the window that opens, from the top going down, there is a checkbox, a long text field, 4 smaller text fields, and 3 long text fields.
- Among the 4 smaller ones, 3 are important.
- Top left: This field is a delay number that you can set from 1-5. While you are playing the game you can manually change it at the character select screen, but the number you set here will be the default value every time you start a match. Generally, the higher your ping to someone is, the higher you should set the delay.
- Bottom Left: This is your gamertag.
- Bottom Right: This is the maximum ping that the game will allow you to connect to. A good default value would be 200.
- Once your values are set, click on one of the two buttons at the bottom of the window to launch the game. The left button launches in windowed mode while the right button launches in full screen mode.
- 5) In the main menu, select "Network VS".
- 6) The best ways to play the game are with "Host Lobby" and "Join Lobby". If you select "Join Lobby" then "Join listed Public Lobby", you will see a list of hosts along with the number of people in the room. If the names are in grey, the room used to exist but is not currently open. Current rooms will be listed in white.
- 7) Alternatively, you can create a public room by choosing "Host Lobby" then "Public lobby". You will create a game session at that time.
- 8) Once you are in a lobby, you will see a list of connected players on the right side of the screen. To start a match, select your name from the list and press LK/confirm. You should see your name go into either the "Host" or "Client" seat on the left side of the screen. Once two players are in those slots, the Host can select "Start" which is directly beneath "Exit lobby".
- In addition, the lobby also has a handy "Ping" button you can use to determine connection quality, and you can even wait for a match in Training Mode by selecting "Toremo".
- 9) Once two players are seated and the Host selects "Start", the screen will change to show both players' names and you will also hear game music playing. At this screen, press LK/confirm to -ready up-. A blue dot will appear next to your name if you are readied.
- 10) Once both players ready up, the character select screen will appear and you will be connected. Before you begin the match, the host can alter the Delay value that was set in the Yatagarasu Launcher by pressing [O] or [P]. [O] reduces the Delay by 1 and [P] increases the Delay by 1. You can see the delay number changing on the bottom right corner of the screen. If the delay is too small, you will feel noticeable lag on the character select screen. The host should experiment with the Delay while on this screen to find the right Delay value for the match. For pings over 100, a Delay value of 3, 4, or 5 will be best.
- 11) Once both players have picked their characters/supers/announcers, the match will begin. Again, if the match feels laggy, the host should increase the Delay value at the character select screen before the match starts.
- 12) When the match ends, you are returned to the lobby to seat the host and client again. Keep in mind that the delay value will always be the value set in the Yatagarasu Launcher -every- time you go to the character select screen, so you may need to change it manually for each match.
- Note: IF your game crashes after a public match, make sure you are running the game in AppLocale and that your game is the most recent version. At the time of writing the most recent version is 2013/03/25. You can see which version you have at the bottom right of the title screen before you bring up the main menu.
