  9.
  10. APPEARANCE
  11. A "city" Offshoot, Demma lacks the more stereotypical camoflauge baubles that Offshoots are known for. Instead, she has semi-rigid blue-black plating in place of skin, with softly glowing blue-white whorls and curving lines around her hips, stomach, and shoulders, wrapping around her slender frame. Her hair is thick and segmented, almost resembling blades of grass, with glowing tips. Her face is slightly flat, with too-large eyes and a patch of soft, pale skin stretching from her narrow jaw and down her throat.
  12.
  13. Many portions of her shell have been cybernetically augmented with similarly-coloured plating. These plating segments allow her to conceal datajacks and card slots that are useful to her job.
  14.
  15. As per her family traditions, Demma typically wears an advanced mask in the shape of a bird's head, which is equipped with camera-eyes and a HUD readout. Along with the basic augmented reality that the helmet provides, it also contains a handbrain computer core allowing her to more easily interface with computer systems.
  16.
  17. To make up for her lack of pockets, Demma wears a toolbelt and occasionally a harness, allowing her a number of pouches and clips to carry things with.
  18.
  19. Her left forearm is extensively modded and contains a multitool, giving her easy access to a spot-welder, screwdrivers, drill, cutting blades, and wirestrippers.
  20.
  21. BACKGROUND
  22. Demma grew up (like most Offshoot in Hansaraj) in Glowtown, her parents working permenant contracts rigging communications lines in the more disused districts. Looking to make herself useful, she learned as much as she could about the information nets that her parents worked on, getting herself augmented to run freelance, unofficial work with her parents.
  23.
  24. When she was sixteen, her actions were noticed and deemed a breach of the contract her parents were beholden to. They vanished, leaving her to fend for herself.
  25.
  26. Luckily, Glowtown takes care of its own, and she hooked up with a netrunner gang as their wirehead. Knowing a fair deal about how the higher-grade corporate networks worked, she was able to work wonders with the lower-grade gear the gang used.
  27.
  28. Eventually though, the gang started taking jabs at the bigger crime syndicates, hoping to edge in on their territory. Feeling that they were heading for a fast burn, Demma dropped out of the gang and went legit, finding work in a corporate warehouse in the slums. In addition to knowing her way around corporate nets, she had a good sense for the kind of intrusion or skimming that the local gangs might try, and her expertise managed to make her fairly popular on-site.
  29.
  30. PERSONALITY
  31. Demma fits the typical Offshoot profile; she's highly determined, a critical thinker, and takes great pride in her work. Once she makes a choice, it takes a clear and compelling argument to shake her from it. Unless, of course, she changes her mind of her own volition.
  32.
  33. Since her parents vanished, she's generally looked out solely for herself. Without any close connections, she hasn't had to worry about the impact her actions will have on others (or at least, not in the same way they impacted her parents); she does her best to be considerate to friends and coworkers, but ultimately she's afraid of responsibility and she avoids it if pressed because she's guilty about what happened to her mother and father.
  34.
  35. Her somewhat self-centered nature means that, so long as she doesn't know the people around her very well, she's willing to take pretty big risks if it suits her. She's a bit reckless, but only if it "doesn't count"; if Demma feels that brash actions could have long-standing consequences, she'll drop them cold. Having it pointed out to her by somebody else is likely to shame her into submission, so long as she can see where they're coming from with the observation.
