Origin Story

He wasn't always a terrifying abomination, no there was a time when he could have been called human. Back when he had a loving wife and two daughters to go home to.

He still remembers the day they took all of that away from him. The gunshots,the screams and the smell of blood. How they drugged him and dragged him off to that  facility.

He remembers all the tests and experiments they did on him. The chemicals they pumped into him, he remembers what they did to his body.

 It started with something minor, a simple sore throat and cough, than it got worse he started to hack up a thick black foul smelling substance with a texture comparable to tar, shortly after his eyes started to leak an oily black substance. God how it burned, it grew worse and worse til the point where he couldn't sleep or eat...or even move the pain had become more than unbearable. Over the course of a week his hair had fallen out in large bloody clumps taking almost his entire scalp with it leaving the skull visible, than came his fingernails one by one they fell off, next came the rest of his skin.

 As the pain slowly began to numb he felt himself slipping away and as he lay there dying he heard something call out to him. A voice in the darkness. That's when he saw it, A shadowy creature black as night, with glowing crimson eyes and fanged grin. It offered to save his life and help him claim vengeance, for a small price.
It wanted his soul and in his current state he had no choice,but to accept.


That's when the transformation took place.      The creature held it's hand over him and suddenly the black fluid that he had been leaking started to twist and turn burrowing into his flesh and gaining access to his insides where it began to become a solid razor sharp mass, before once again  being overcome with immense agony as he felt it slice apart his organs and dissolve his soft tissues.

He succumbed to the pain and passed out, when he awoke the creature was nowhere to be seen.The scientists that had been monitoring  his vitals from the next room had been alerted to the fact that he had flatlined an hour ago. They carefully made there way to the room they had been holding him captive in and entered expecting a mutilated corpse, but what they witnessed was much worse.

They found not a corpse or a man, but a horrifying abomination. The creature had made him one with the darkness imbuing the fluid with a portion of it's power, giving it the properties of the shadow realm.

The fluid had bonded with his cellular structure on a molecular level manipulating his genes and re-engineered him into a creature of pure shadow. It had replaced his entire body,it had given him new organs making it so that he had no need to breathe,eat,drink or sleep. It had replaced his skin with thick,black chitinous armor. It replaced his musculature system improving upon it. It made his fingers long and spindly and attached long retractable claws to them. It replaced his eyes turning them into glowing white orbs that gave let him see clearly in the darkest of environments.
It transformed him into one of them, it gave him the power to manipulate the shadows themselves and as soon as he saw those scientists come through the door, he gave them a horrifying grin as he disappeared in a cloud of black mist, leaving that horrible place far behind him.

From that day forward he was no longer human, on that day he became the living nightmare that is Tenebris.
