- Lab 1 – Beginning Web Development
- 1. Create a blog to document your Web Development lab work.
- From this webpage, choose one of the best suitable blog sites. Follow their instructions to establish your own blog.
- Your blog will be the place where you record information from your labs (not html) if required.
- 2. The World Wide Web Consortium creates standards for the Web. Visit its site at http://www.w3c.org and then answer the following questions:
- Why was the Internet Society created?
- Who can join the W3C? What does it cost to join?
- The W3C home page lists a number of technologies. Choose one that interests you, click its link, and read the associated pages. List three facts or issues that you discover.
- 4. Make a list of your five favourite websites:
- Number 1 should be your favorite.
- Explain in no more than three sentences what you like about that site.
- Visit the following five websites:
- http://www.amazon.com
- http://www.stupidfunclub.com
- http://www.smashingmagazine.com/
- http://www.angelfire.com/super/badwebs/
- Apple
- Categorise each website as either good or bad.
- As you visit these sites, record the aspects of the site that you like and don’t like.
- Note: All lab work will go towards your final mark. 2, 3 and 4 should be recorded in the blog that you created in 1. Show your blog on next Thursday lab.
