- Overview:
- As the Blackout continued, the Federated Suns realized that their foes were
- deploying units with advanced scouting technology in numbers that the AFFS
- could not match with their current designs. The Quicksilver was developed in
- just 9 months to tip the scales and cripple the enemy's scouting efforts.
- Capabilities:
- Built off of a heavily modified Osiris chassis, the Quicksilver replaced the
- jump jets of its progenitor for more speed. To do so, the Quicksilver devotes
- almost 30 percent of its mass to attain a top speed of 180 kp/h, using an XXL
- engine and Endo Steel to provide the design with a reasonable payload. A thick
- skin of Reflective armor ensures the speedy 'Mech can shrug off laser fire.
- Each of the Quicksilver's five configurations are designed with scouting and
- information relay in mind, and all of them mount a Boosted C3 Slave or Master.
- Deployment:
- Since the Quicksilver's introduction in 3146, the design has seen heavy action
- on all fronts in the Federated Suns. Though initially earmarked for units on
- the Capellan front, AFFS Command's need for scouting units spread the design
- throughout the entire AFFS, earning the Quicksilver a reputation for breaking
- enemy lines wide open.
- The action that solidified this reputation and made the Quicksilver the darling
- of the AFFS was the retaking of New Syrtis. A battalion of volunteers from
- across the Cappellan March prepared the way for the rest of the invasion force.
- Dropped in using only Quicksilvers in his company, Captain Timothy Jessup of
- the 5th Syrtis Fusiliers lead an attack on an airbase supporting a wing of CCAF
- Aerospace fighters. Using his lance of Quicksilver Primes to disable the
- scrambling fighters and base defenses, Captain Jessup managed to destroy 12
- fighters and 3 mechs before retreating. The lack of air defense in the sector
- allowed the invasion force to establish the first of many footholds.
- On other fronts, the Quicksilver has been matched against a number of odd
- designs, some using the RISC technology, found scattered throughout the wider
- Inner Sphere, others using more typical technologies, but each time the
- Quicksilver has prevailed.
- Notable 'Mechs & MechWarriors:
- Captain Timothy Jessup: Awarded a number of medals for his part in the
- recapture of New Syrtis, including the Limp Sword Flag, the Syrtis Medal of
- Honor and the Federated Suns Star, Captain Jessup has been pulled from the 5th
- Syrtis Fusiliers and reassigned to the newly formed Second Davion Guards as a
- scout company commander, where his skills will be put to the best use in
- defending the Federated Suns.
