The MK-18 is a close quarters modification for the M4/M16 family of assault rifles. As a result from the US Navy's efforts and the SOPMOD program, this variation of the M4 rifle was created for close quarters fighting, such as the insides of navy ships or building clearing. Proposed in 1999 produced in 2000, the goal of the program and the rifle was to field a rifle the size of a submachine gun while still having the stopping power of a rifle round. The Mk 18 is used by the United States Coast Guard's Tactical Law Enforcement Teams, and the United States Navy's Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Operators. But what you have in maneuverability and size, you lose in power and accuracy at range. Most likely someone just cut off the barrel of a regular M4 and gave it some new furniture, but who knows? Maybe this is the real deal from the west.
