  1. Jerrick never knew his parents, only his big sister Sylvana. He grew up in the slums of Kilead Hold. His oldest memory is when he was four, hiding under the planks of a stranger's front porch to get shelter from the freezing rain, his sister beside him. A dead rat was clutched in his small hands for their meal.
  2. He grew up rough. But he was quick, he was smart, and he was cunning. He learned that drunk men in taverns didn't keep a close enough eye on their money pouches. He learned that if cought he could take a beating. The pain was temporary, starving to death was permanent. He also learned that Silvana wasn't like other children. She had powers. She could start fires with her mind and make others do what she wanted by maintaining eye contact. Once Jerrick slipped off of the docks during a storm, and felt himself lifted from the churning waves by an unseen force. His sister was reaching to him, lifting him from the water through sheer will.
  3. When Jerrick was thirteen and Silvana was fifteen, they were sleeping in a barn when men in black armor burst in, dragging Silvana off into the night. When Jerrick tried to stop them he was slashed with a longsword, cutting him open from shoulder to navel. He woke up days later, being tended to by clerics of Sarenrae in their church in the city. The jagged scar never healed properly, but his life was saved.
  4. Jerrick wandered aimlessly after that. He made acquaintances with the city's Thieve's Guild, and helped them run cons and burglarize shops and houses throughout the city. He was taught how to pick a victim, and charm them out of their money with nothing but honeyed words and a fake background. He used the guild's network of contacts to seek any information about his sister, but there was no sign of her in the city. It was through the guild that he met the pirate known as the Black Reaver, a stern and violent dwarven captain. Jerrick accompanied Black Reaver's crew for the next three years, plundering ships in the Merchant Sea, seeking any knowledge of his sister in each port they visited. He learned to crew a ship and fight with the rapier and cutlass. But he could never settle for long, and soon found himself wandering the world, living off of his wits, cunning, and skill with a blade.
  5. As the years passed, aimless and with no sign of his sister, Jerrick fell into drinking and depression. He travelled to the east, and wandered the towns and cities. To get money he conned, stole, and found work where he could. One night found him drunk in a North Watch tavern. He met a woman who lived in the keep and went home with her. Her husband, who was a captain of the city guard, found out about their tryst and had Jerrick arrested. After being beaten he was thrown into the dungeons. No big deal. Not the first time.

  7. Jerrick is generally good, but has no regard for authority or the law. His outer demeanor is always cocky and confident, although inside he feels aimless and still mourns the loss of his sister. He needs a purpose to his life.
