  1. This is going to be very long. I emplore you to read this in its entirety. It may change the way you see things around sows.
  2.
  3. About two months ago, a person in my chat asked me in Japanese "how I was playing Sound Voltex in my home". At the time, streaming was allowed. I told him over the mic on stream, in Japanese, that the details are private and I cannot discuss them on stream. I also said that basically if you are interested enough in the series and you enjoy the games and feel like buying a controller, then you will easily find the rest. I think he just said thank you and I didn't hear from him after that.
  4.
  5. Keep in mind that the entirety of our conversations on twitch and skype were exclusively in Japanese.
  6.
  7. Soon after that, I think about 1-2 days later, I got a skype contact request from "tororonokuzu" with a Taiwanese flag. The request said something along the lines of "it's tororonokuzu from twitch". I accepted and responded "ah hello!, you are the one that had questions about Sound Voltex". He responded "Yes. I understand how to (do) it but I don't have a sows account". I simply responded "ah, if that's all you need still, i can help you with that."
  8.
  9. From there we talked about different controllers, games, etc. that he "owns" or "plans to buy". He seemed like a nice person, there are a lot of people who genuinely have an interest in the genre and that's who I intended to help out. I ended up giving him a sows account, explaining the site and community to him briefly, and then giving him a very very brief Japanese explanation of the ratio system. He said he has used private trackers before. I told him good luck and he thanked me, complimenting me for being helpful and saying "I hope there are more people like (you/Horo) on sows!"
  10.
  11. About an hour later I check my invite tree and see that he immediately leeched Spada and had nearly a gigabyte so far. I told him "ah! stop stop!" and proceeded to once again explain to him how the ratio system worked. He asked, confused, how then should he get the game if he has no upload? I explained that the ratio system is in place for two main reasons: to keep new members with bad intentions from immediately downloading arcade data and other private files and immediately leaking/sharing them; and also to encourage people to seed and upload torrents in order to create a fast network of seeders and uploaders.
  12.
  13. I explained that since I knew him, I can give him the data and help him start out on sows. I explained how to download the torrent file from the website, change the tracker to a public tracker, set it to private, and download the data directly from me. I provided him with a torrent file that is literally just the same torrent on sows, but with the tracker changed to an open one. The torrent is not on any directory anywhere, nor was it shared to anyone that does not have a sows account. It is also a "private" torrent that will not appear on any listings. The only peer is me. He used this to download the data after I explained that "everyone needs to start somewhere". I also a little later asked for his announce URL so he can share my seedbox and build up bonus points/ratio.
  14.
  15. When I first joined sows, I leeched sound voltex before I understood the ratio system and had to work my way back up. I was lucky in two ways, one being that I uploaded new torrents and built up my ratio myself, but the other being I had miko, someone I did not know at all. Miko asked a moderator to send me some bonus points to recover my ratio. He said we all start somewhere and he thought I looked like I was trying my hardest to build ratio and be a productive member of the community. I never used the points, instead thanking him and telling him how much that meant to me. A stranger helped me, someone he did not know whatsoever. I thought "this is the community I've been looking for."
  16.
  17. Everything has been decent, but still confusing so far. Now today, I have seen the true side of all this.
  18.
  19. -----------------
  20.
  21. For the last year, my viewpoint has gradually changed.
  22.
  23. I have tried my best to provide whatever I possibly can to the community I loved so much. I could never in any way repay the brave people who source the data and the geniuses who crack it and provide it to us. To these people, I am forever indebted. Without you, neither myself nor anyone else outside of Japan (and R1) would be able to experience.
  24.
  25. However, several events, culminating possibly in today's event, have shown me the true side of the community.
  26.
  27. The biggest thing that I will tell you now is regarding something that is still going on as you read this.
  28.
  29. The "ban on streaming/sharing" thing going on is a hoax. A cover-up. They, Tau specifically, have been telling you that the reason for the current ban on public sharing of data-related images and videos is because of a sudden request from your data sources. I can't actually confirm whether that ever really happened or not, but I have reason to believe it did not.
  30.
  31. What I CAN confirm is the true reason for this ban: a cease and desist from Konami Digital Entertainment on sows. That's right, Konami threatened to take legal action if the sharing didn't stop. I don't know any more than this. I can confirm this from multiple anonymous sources and I guarantee you 100% sows will deny this and say I'm lying out of my teeth. But I do know that this is the real reason that the current ban is in place for all of you. The higher ups on sows do NOT want you to know this and I can only tell you now that I am banned. They even went so far as to create a red herring by explicitly blaming myself and Cirno_TV for the supposed sources worries and calling Cirno a "fuckwit" for streaming the game. Not only did Cirno's stream cause NOTHING legal or otherwise, we actually EXPLICITLY got permission to stream the game from Tau himself. The exact same person verbally attacking and attempting to pin the blame on my friend.
  32.
  33. The best part is, the community shows its gullibility by CONSTANTLY falling in line with ANYTHING the mods say. Everytime someone says anything, such as Tau trash-talking my good friend out of sheer bullshit, they proceed to trash him too for 5 pages.
  34.
  35. When I wanted to help the community by offering to print posters at-cost and scanning things at-cost, I am ridiculed and outcasted to high hell. The community hates me. Hates me for "attempting to invalidate the collections" and "make money" of the people who spend hundreds on merchandise when the literal point of this site is to PIRATE things.
  36.
  37. Time and time again I just see how fucked up the community is. I don't mean to say all of you, there are countless great people there, but the people who I am talking about, you know who you are.
  38.
  39. --------------------
  40.
  41. Now having read all of this, the explicit reason I am banned?
  42.
  43. The person I helped, the Japanese person, was not who he said he was. He was literally a spy from sows who posed as a Japanese bemani player in order to make me invite him and share the data with him. I'm not sure if he did this out of his own accord, but I highly doubt it.
  44.
  45. This person then made a thread in the VIP forums with the subject "ban Horo"
  46.
  47. The body was simply:
  48. "<pastebin of our conversation> <link to his fake profile>
  49. Cirno_TV
  50. still talking about games and where to get them on stream
  51. goddammit osu"
  52.
  53. Then I was banned.
  54.
  55. I feel like I missed countless examples of the disgusting, baseless, bandwagon hatred towards myself and I just want to put this out there: Don't believe everything you read.
  56.
  57. I have done everything I can to help the community and every time, in some way, shape, or form, I am ridiculed, blackmailed, and punished for it.
  58.
  59. I was literally banned for being a nice person. Why the fuck is there an invite option if you can't invite someone you trust. Why can't I share data INTERNALLY. Why would you even DO what you did. How awful can someone be.
  60.
  61. I have never once in my life seen such a terrible, rude group of people than those responsible for all this. I hope you are all ashamed of yourselves.
  62.
  63. I never wish to be a part of that community ever again and I encourage you to at least rethink everything that is happening around you. Maybe you will fill in some more gaps that I have missed.
  64.
  65. Thank you and have fun with your weeb games.
  66.
  67. -Horo
