  1. Hello,
  2.
  3.
  4. I am wishing to create a mobile gaming and development computer that allows the VM to access directly a dedicated graphics card .
  5.
  6. You seem to have had experience with this.
  7.
  8. We have purchased a ASUS X58 board http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/SABERTOOTH_X58/ which said it is VT-D and we have turned that feature on. We are using a Core i7 920 CPU with it which has VT-X
  9.
  10. The graphics card for this test is an NVIDIA 8400GS card for the Windows 7 VM to access directly.
  11.
  12. I have a developer working with me on this remotely and though his is talented, I can tell this is stretching him.
  13.
  14. One big problem came when he inserts intel_iommu=on in the grub.cfg file and runs update-grub, it returns volume not found and will no longer boot. He and I are uncertain if this is a problem with unsupported equipment or some other problem.
  15.
  16. I am willing to spend around 250.00 on a board plus whatever is needed for the CPU. I am hoping what I have will do the job but it seems you may know better than any one on the planet right now since this field is so new.
  17.
  18. Could you give me your thoughts on this. I really want to take this to the finish line.
  19.
  20. Also, let me know if you do any development on the side via SSH etc that might be of value to us and if so, what rates you charge for this.
  21.
  22. Sincerely,
  23.
  24.
  25. Jay
