Excerpt 1: ...had a little trouble with some Anarch rabble-rousers lately. Dumb, angry bastards don't have a clue what the bigger picture is, how absolutely tiny all of them--all of *us*--are in the grand scheme of things. Sometimes,, not even the oldest Kindred remember. The Jyhad seems to be a distant memory to most of us, and the younger Kindred don't have a clue.

No matter. The strange artifact is safe. Were it not for my Lunatic friend here, I'd never have found it at all. I suppose that "network" they have going on isn't all bullshit. I'll have Sheridan look into it--she is adept at discerning the origins of strange pieces such as this.

I did pick her for that, after all.

Excerpt 2: The artifact is dangerous. Ethna says it's Egyptian, or something like it, but it's definitely Kindred in origin. Some unholy clusterfuck of dark magic, though, no telling who made it. It's not any Discipline as I know it... but somehow resembles them all. The "Doctor" suspects it contains forms of Vitae[missing text]powerful in the right hands, or wrong ones.

Except 3: ...all went to Hell. The sabbat... must have found out what we know about the Artifact. one of them wormed his way into the city. My city.

I don't know how much time we have left. The Elders suspect much, me most of all. His cunning is inhuman... perhaps an obsolete idiom for a being my age. But, I digress.

The loss of Bordeaux and his fellow are crippling my intel. Ethna has done much to pick up the slack, but I fear it will not be enough. An alternative is needed, to buy time.

I fear I will not see my plan come to fruition,, but as the kine say... "desperate times." I only hope, if there is any left in these old veins, that my childe can--[page is damaged]
