to celebrate the release of ORAS/10 year anniversary of R/S, here's a stupid fucking fanfic I wrote january 10th 2006.
some background: I was a very angsty 12 year old (but who wasn't tbh) and I really liked latias. a lot. probably more than I should've. and I wrote really depressing shit about her dying a lot to show my affection (?????????). this is one of the more entertaining pieces. I have tons of them but none are as funny and/or go on for too long.
to avoid confusion since this has been brought up by a lot of people who have read this: the narrator in this story is told in the first person by may, as in, the female protagonist from R/S. so if you're wondering why "I" am referring to myself as may, it's not actually me. I dunno why this confused people but I just felt like I should clear that up.
there is also a tl;dr at the end, for those of you who find this too cringe-worthy to get through.
anyway, sorry for the long intro. here you go, in all of its unedited glory:

It was one of those nights…You know…the ones where it’s dark and stormy…you’re warm and cozy when you’re asleep. At first, it was one of those nights, but it turned into my worst nightmare…

I was sleeping. (Duh.) So was Latias. (Duh.) I woke up from the yelling in Latias’s room. I wonder if Latias had a nightmare, I thought. I walked down the hallway. When I reached Latias’s room, I turned on the lights. I started to say, “Aww, Latias! Did you…” That’s it began. Blood was everywhere. Latias’s bed was drenched in blood, The walls had blots of blood, Latias had blood on her fur, and the floor had blood leading toward the window.

The window was broken.

“I…What…Blood…Latias’s Blood…Broke through window…Tried to kill…Got away…Stab…Stomach…No,” I stammered. I snapped out of it and I ran downstairs and tried to call Lilycove’s Pokemon Center. Latias talked to me telepathicly. (“I can still fly. Lets hurry up and get to the Pokemon Center!”) I looked at Latias and said, “Alright, but don’t let me down!”
Latias and I flew torwards Lilycove city. We were about halfway there when I heard a gun fire. A bullet flew past me. I couldn’t see who it was because it was raining and it was dark. The gun went off again, but this time, it hit. The bullet tore through Latias, leaving a large wound near her ribs. Both of us started to fall. The last thing I heard was a snap.

When I woke up, my right arm was broken and Latias couldn’t get up. I carried her to the Pokemon Center. I brought her in, then I collapsed. I was so tired. The people lead me to a chair and took Latias into the surgery room. I heard Latias scream when she was in there. I couldn’t handle it anymore. I ran outside and I ran and I ran untill I tipped and fell. A nurse came out and said, “May, the surgeon wants to see you now.”

I got inside and I went into the surgeon’s office. “May,” The surgeon said. “Latias…she…must be put to sleep. She wouldn’t be able to fly or do anything. You must put her to sleep. I’m so sorry.”
“No…no…no…no…” I mumbled. “NO! You’re lying! You’re kidding! You…No! Latias will be fine! This is a joke, right?” The surgeon looked at me with a serious look. “May…this isn’t a joke. Latias will must be put to sleep. She wouldn’t want to live like that. May…I’m sorry.”
“Oh…..THIS CAN’T BE HAPPENING!” I fell on my knees. “This can’t be happening…”

I started to cry. “Would you like to see Latias?” The surgeon asked. “Yes…” I replied. I walked into the room. Dear God, no, I thought. Latias was straped down to a table and blood was coming out of her mouth. The surgeon left the room.
“Latias, I have to put you to sleep. I’m sorry. You wouldn’t be able to fly or anything if you lived any longer. It’s for the best. Don’t worry, you’ll be able to watch me up in heaven and I’ll join you soon.”
(“If it’s for the best, I’ll go to sleep.”)
The surgeon came back. “Are you ready, May?” He asked.
“…Yes…” I replied.

The surgeon gave me a small pill. “Put it in Latias’s mouth.” I put it in Latias’s mouth. She swallowed. It would only be a little while untill Latias would die. “I love you, Latias.”
(“I love you, too.”)

Latias closed her eyes. Her breathing slowed and then it stopped.

Latias was gone forever.

The surgeon offered to help me carry Latias home. When we got home, I told him to leave. He left and I was alone.
I buried Latias the next day and sat at home for about a week untill one night. And on that one night, the phone rang. “It’s three AM, who would be calling now?” I asked myself. I picked up the phone and said “Hello?”
“I’m outside your window” said the voice over the phone.

I looked out the window. A shady guy was standing there. He pulled out a gun and shot me in the heart. I died minutes later.


I am now in heaven, along with Latias. Everything is better now. Were very happy and…well, what else can I say? It’s heaven! Perfection! That’s the end of my story…have a nice day!

tl;dr: may owns a latias and some random dude decides to kill her??? ?? ? ? ? ? ? and may tries saving her at a pokemon center but ultimately fails. there's some magic euthanizing pill. "put it in latias's mouth / I put it in latias's mouth" happens. latias dies. may goes home and gets shot to death and then she ends up in heaven (I still dunno where I got that idea from considering I didn't grow up in a religious family/go to church like ever). nice. hope y'all enjoyed!
