- “Man, why do I keep messing up?” Cody was thinking to himself. He was at band practice a week before his Spring Concert. He was the lead tuba player; not because he was good, but mostly because he was the only one. Regardless of that, he loved band and all his friends in it as well. However, he was not doing well. He kept messing up the notes and while he didn’t sound off, and Mr. Zach was not yelling at him, he felt off and needed to take a break. So, he asked Mr. Zach if he could be allowed to use the bathroom. Mr. Zach, was a tall, strong man who looked like he could destroy something, and intimidated Cody. When Cody asked, Mr. Zach replied, “We’re about to play Thriller and we need you. Can you wait just a bit?”
- Cody felt he really needed to take a break, so after trying to persuade Mr. Zach for a few seconds, Mr. Zach finally let him leave. While in the hallway, he saw a ladle, which was really odd to be in the hallway. He thought to himself, “Aren’t those usually in the cafeteria?” As he approached it, he saw something red on it. He also noticed there was a patch of red on the usually white walls. He walked up to it, and immediately let out a scream. He realized it was blood.
- Cody’s instincts told him to run, but he went against them and decided to investigate. He decided the first place to check would be the hallway behind the cafeteria. The only place it leads to was the gym, and there were no sports practices today. Cody thought it’d be a good spot it hide a body. So, he decided to head down there. On his way there however, was a locked door. Each of the hallways had huge, wooden doors in case there was an emergency, like a shooter or animal, but Cody had never seen one locked. So, because he needed to open it, he tried to go to each classroom he could to try to get someone with a key, but all the classrooms were locked. Giving up, he decided to go towards the main office where he knew he could get help, when suddenly he heard a scream for help.
- Cody thought it sounded like his best friend, Colin, who was also staying after school as he was the pianist for the band. Wanting to save his friend, Cody ran in the direction of the cafeteria, which is where he thought the noise was coming from. Suddenly, Colin stopped screaming. Cody suddenly became very worried. What if Colin had died? Colin had already lost his mother last Wednesday and he was still unable to think about it without becoming on the verge of tears. He couldn’t lose Colin, so soon after his mother passed away. Thinking about that, he bolted into the cafeteria. Seeing nobody, he went into the kitchen where Colin’s face was covered by a bandana and he was in a restraint chair, and did not look good. It was a sight that would likely traumatize him for the rest of his life. Before he got the cafeteria lady, who was an old, chubby lady probably in her sixties, attention, he quickly took a knife and dashed at her, stabbing her in the back of the neck. In complete shock, before Cody could attack her again, she escaped out of the school.
- After Cody realized she she had successfully escaped from him, he ran right to Colin, untied the bandana, and then tried to free him. Colin was still alive and breathing, but looked passed out and was unresponsive. So, he took out his phone and called 911, explaining what happened, how she managed to flee, and how Colin was out cold. Eventually, when the EMT’s arrived, Colin was airlifted to the nearest hospital, and while he did survive, his injuries, including a fractured skull, a black eye, two fractured ribs and several other things wound up leaving him in the hospital for over two months, going into summer.
- A few days after it happened, it was determined that the lunch lady had not only attempted to not only kill Colin, but she was linked to 22 other murders, including Cody’s mom. Nobody had ever expected her, but it was found that she would go at night and go into people’s houses via open windows, and attempt to kill anyone who was alone, first by knocking them out with a needle of anesthesia, then taking their bodies and stabbing them in the middle of the woods. Colin was the first person she tried to torture and beat to death, especially with a ladle as a weapon. Apparently she had first used the ladle in the hallway to strike him in the back of the head, then took him into the kitchen where she’d set up a restraint chair earlier to keep him in. Apparently Colin had been screaming, but the band was playing “Beat It” by Michael Jackson, which drowned out his screams. He eventually stopped in an attempt to negotiate with the cafeteria Lady, but when she wouldn’t, he continued, which is what Cody heard. Eventually, in fearing of someone hearing, she covered his face to prevent him from screaming. As for the serial killer, she was never found and is supposedly in the woods, hiding.
