I'm not even a phoxfag.

Its been awhile since you first punished her. By now, it seems she's nearly forgotten the entire experience. But one day you decide to start "bullying" her again.

You had given her a nickname, back when you first received her as a shy little Fennekin. A cute feminine name that she adored. You even helped her memorize the letters, and when she evolved she loved to write her name in the dirt with a stick. Truly she loved the name you gave her. But now you're not going to use it anymore. In the middle of a hot summer day you call her "Braxien". Just, "Braixen". She's a little confused at first but thinks nothing of it. Maybe it was just a slip up? Plenty of trainers call their pokemon by their species name. No big deal.

But you don't stop. You refuse to call her by her name. And that's not all. You become impatient with her. You shout at her without reason. You deny her treats. You never brush her fur anymore. She becomes more visibly upset and confused every day. Was it something she did wrong? Was she not strong enough? The questions fill her head as she sleeps at night. She'd give anything to see you pleased with her again. All she wants is to hear her name. Still thinking you might have just forgotten it, she writes her name in the dirt and shows it to you, hoping you'll remember. You kick the dirt, erasing her name and walk away.

One day she walks up to you while you were sitting beneath a tree. Her head is lowered and you notice she doesn't look you in the eyes anymore. She holds out her hand. Another berry, freshly picked. It worked last time, so surely this will make you happy. You look at it with disgust and swat it out of her hand, saying you don't want her crap. She takes a sudden step back, looking just as shocked as when you first struck her. She had heard you use curse words before but NEVER directed at her. She keeps her head down and her eyes low but you can tell shes holding back tears. With a dismissive gesture, you shoo her away and she walks off slowly.
Pleased with yourself, you fall asleep.

A weak tug on your arm wakes you just a few hours later. Its her again, looking at you with a small nervous grin. You ask her what she wants and she presents you with another gift. Your eyes focus on a large leaf with a simple drawing on it. It looks like she used some charcoal to draw a picture of the two of you holding hands with a small heart above. Your name is written below you. And her name is written below her. You can see that she put quite a bit of effort into this. She holds it out to you but you refuse. Then you command her to burn it. Her smile disappears and she begins to protest but you raise your voice and command her again to burn the gift. Desperate not to anger you further she complies. One pitiful ball of fire later and the leaf is nothing but ash.
She spends the rest of the day crying.

That night just before you fall asleep you hear her open your tent and crawl inside. When she was just a Fennekin, the two of you would always sleep together for warmth. That hasn't happened in quite a while. She hardly makes any noise, not wanting to wake you.
Desperate for the affection you used to show her, she cuddles up close to your side. Finally you decide to give in. You hold her close and say you forgive her. You rub her head gently and call her by her name. Its soo much for her and she buries her face into your chest sobbing loudly. You hold her close and comfort her.

The question of what it was that she had done wrong leaves her mind. All she cares about is you saying her name once more.
