  1. This is currently a first draft, so please do critique heavily! You can find me on the #albw channel on irc.speedrunslive.com and on the ZeldaSpeedRuns forum, I'm Tryst on both.
  2.
  3. I'll begin by saying I have no idea if anyone will be interested in doing this. Some of the mini-games do take a lot of set-up, and I'm not entirely sure how SRL-friendly they'd be either (due to their short-lived nature).
  4.
  5. In case people are unaware, there is a ranking for mini-games on Cyberscore: http://cyberscore.me.uk/game/1348 (click on the chart icon next to "Separate charts 8 charts").

  9. Treacherous Tower
  10.
  11. Three stages: Beginner (100 Rupee), which has 5 floors, Intermediate (200 Rupee), which has 15 floors, and Advanced (300 Rupee), which has 50 floors. Racing Treacherous Tower is all about your ability to defeat monsters efficiently, so an ideal set-up is to have a fully upgraded sword, red tunic, bottles containing purple potions, and fully upgraded weapons.
  12.
  13. I imagine a Treacherous Tower race would involve completing all three stages as quickly as possible. Due to the nature of SRL, this would have to be RTA and not reliant on the in-game timer. This could also be sub-divided into different categories which restrict the use of certain items (no bottles, no items, no sword, no great spin, etc.). I imagine resetting the game after each stage to replenish potions would also be acceptable*, allowing "no resets" to also be added to make the challenge that little bit harder.
  14.
  15. An easy way to ensure no items are used (and to avoid accidentally ending your run short without having to waste bottles) would simply be to purchase both Foul Fruit and Scoot Fruit, set one on X and the other on Y and then use both - this clears your X and Y buttons completely.
  16.
  17. *TODO: Decide when the game can be reset, if resets are allowed. Either after seeing the "Finish!" message of each stage or when regaining control of Link after going through the
  18.
  19. Estimated race time: ~30 minutes (with no restrictions).
  20. Timer start: Loading the game file, saved outside Treacherous Tower.
  21. Timer end: Upon seeing the Finish! message on the final tower stage.
  22.

  24.
  25. Hyrule Hotfoot
  26.
  27. Simply involves getting from east of Lake Hylia to behind the Miner's House near the Lost Woods on Hyrule. Due to the short nature of this mini-game I guess racing this would involve completing Hyrule Hotfoot multiple times in succession. This could also be restricted to make it more of a challenge (no Pegasus Boots, no Hookshot, no Yellow Potions, etc.).
  28.
  29. If we say the mini-game should be repeated 10 times:
  30.
  31. Estimated race time: ~20 minutes.
  32. Timer start: Loading the game file, saved at House of Gales.
  33. Timer end: When Link holds the reward above his head for completing the race for the final time.
  34.
  35. ---
  36.
  37. Combining the two?
  38.
  39. Another race option would be to combine one completion of Hyrule Hotfoot with the three Treacherous Tower stages.
  40.
  41. Estimated race time: ~35 minutes.
  42. Timer start: Loading the game file, saved at House of Gales (assuming Hyrule Hotfoot is completed first).
  43. Timer end: Upon seeing the Finish! message on the final tower stage.
  44.
  45. ---
  46.
  47. What about the other mini-games?
  48.
  49. Unfortunately Cuckoo Ranch, Octoball and Rupee Rush aren't really mini-games which can be raced. Rupee Rush and Octoball involve scoring points in a fixed time frame, and Cuckoo Ranch counts upwards - which completely goes against the way SRL works.
