Ghoul School Reboot Idea

speaking of cute Spooky girls, have been fiddling with my own take on the Ghoul School concept, inspired partially by some discussions in previous threads about having a Hunter character from a Belmont knockoff family, as well as various past discussions about expanding Grimwood's student body beyond the original 5, so here's a list of monster archetypes I was thinking of using(partially based on some ideas a couple friends on another site have had), gonna take a couple posts though due to character limits;

Vampire(Sibella of course, although if we added any other vampires it'd be neat to cover the Nosferatu or Hopping Vampire types)

Witch(may or may not be several of them, at least one would be related to Repulsa)

Mummy(Tanis)

Were-Wolf(Winnie)

Frankenstoid(Elsa)

Devil/Demon(another type that might have several students representing, since they are a diverse type)

Ghost(Phanty)

Plantfolk(not sure whether to go with the more traditional Seymour or other flower based kind, or mix it up and go with something more pumpkin or tree based, might be another type that has several students representing it)

Skeleton(thinking instead of all skeleton all the time, she'd normally just look like a regular girl doing the whole Day of The Dead makeup thing, but can change into a proper skeleton form, may or may not be related to The Grim Reaper himself)

Klown(female monster of clown-like appearance, whether of alien or demonic origin, maybe even both at once)

Banshee(might be a little too close to Phanty's brand of Ghost admittedly)

Grey(can't help but picture something similar to that alien girl from that one episode of The Oblongs)

Goblin(tiny mischievous shortstack, what's not to love)

Mad Scientist(complete with oversized brain filled head, vague eastern European accent, and a propensity to try and flip off God and Nature using SCIENCE)

Bugbear(think the sort of monsters from Monsters Incorporated/University, especially the female ones)



Drider(need at least one spider based monster)

Zombie(thinking a Zombie student should be of the sort that's basically fully intact, but oddly colored)

Cronenburg(bug/person hybrid, she'd be a relatively symmetrical and defect free sort, although if we met her father, he'd be the classic Brundlefly sort)

Gill-Man/Deep One(if you've seen that episode of Mystery Inc with the Mer-People, that's what I'm basically picturing a student of that sort looking like)

Supernatural Slasher(not sure whether to lean more towards the Jason kind or the Freddy kind here, might also be a type with several students representing)

Killer Robot(insert Jenny jokes here)

Giant Mutant Killer Animal/Plant/Humanoid(basically Kaiju, probably just take the one introduced at the end of the original movie and make her a lot more cute and humanoid, was thinking a visual gag involving meeting her parents, her dad being a blatant Godzilla expy, while her mom is basically a 50ft Woman/Giganta type)

Giger Space Creature(sleek, sexy, and to be frank probably the dumbest student on campus)

Killer Slime(another candidate for dumbest student probably, at least in her normal size, kinda thinking she'd get smarter the bigger she gets, so around exams she'd shove a couple cows inside herself to bulk up, and then purge the excess afterwards)

Witch Familiar(basically just an excuse to include a cat-girl and/or snake girl, possibly both, especially if we only have one witch)

Yeti(only student that's probably larger than Elsa in every single respect)

Igor(figure /co/ could accomplish the seeming impossibility of making a hot female Igor, also probably some fun bits where she can't decide between assisting Elsa or the Mad Scientist girl)



Monster High is admittedly an influence, although I'm picturing most of the girls being more well Monstrous when compared to their MH equivalents

well part of the reason I went with that for Skeleton and Zombie is that one of the core tenants for my idea is that all the girls have to be at least somewhat conventionally attractive(since while it's just for fun I'm also approaching it from a hypothetical "What If Ghoul School Was Revived To Compete With Monster High" angle, so we'd need to be able to sell dolls), and while the thing with Skeleton actually being a sort of Death Spirit(and thus can change appearance) is a good compromise in my opinion between spooky and cute/sexy, I'll admit I would like to make Zombie a bit more creepy, but I'm having a hard time thinking of something that wouldn't just make her full on disgusting, as for the others;

I'll admit Klown is mostly there to act as a creepier expy of a certain character from the show that isn't allowed on /co/(plus she'd be a relatively unique monster)

I'll admit I could go more original with Mad Scientist(there was some thoughts about maybe having her be a full on Megamind grade ham instead)

and as for Slasher, she wouldn't be a 1/1 clone, me mentioning Jason and Freddy was more about whether she'd be the big hulking sort(although I'm tempted to graft some Jason aspects onto Zombie now that I'm thinking about it, would help her be a bit more unique), or the magical trickster sort, although I'm leaning towards the latter now that I'm putting a little more thought into it

let me know any other thoughts you guys might have for this



didn't really think an Invisible Person would be a good fit, both cause not very monstrous, and well someone invisible wouldn't make for a good fashion doll(since I mention in >>79873754 that part of the idea is something that could compete with Monster High), although we're going to need more teachers, so maybe an Invisible Man could be a teacher instead

I'm not excusing, I'm giving reasons for my choices, and I acknowledged some changes were needed(like possibly mixing some Jason into Zombie, changing Mad Scientist into more of a massive showoff than just the usual stereotype, and figuring which general direction to take Slasher, although for that last one I'll admit I still need a unique twist or hook for her), but at the same time I'm not going to change everything just on the whims of anon


there probably would be some other monster(and other supernatural stuff) schools out there(like for example a school in Innsmouth that's almost exclusively Deep Ones, or the male Hunter character I mentioned earlier would be an exchange student with an academy of Monster Hunters, in an attempt to improve relations between the more well behaved monsters and those who take down the ones who are actually a threat), so yeah there's probably a predominantly Yokai filled school out in Japan(maybe Killer Robot or Yeti is a transfer student from there)

generally it's harder to make a male monster attractive without setting off people's internal "Twilight" alarms(kinda why the sole male student for my idea is currently just going to be a mostly normal human)



do you think grimwood occasionally has to take in male students due to the scarcity of monster friendly education?



Well depends on how close to canon we're sticking, in my own concept for a Ghoul School reboot(nothing serious like Toonspew's concept, just something I like to mess around with), the Monster population in the United States alone numbers somewhere in the hundreds of thousands, possibly even low millions(even if almost half of those are just Witches/Warlocks and Mad Scientists and certain other humans that are considered Monsters due to various ancient treaties), so Grimwood's school is far from the only school for monsters, although it's one of the most diverse in terms of species diversity(most others are dominated by one or two types of Monster), but normally it's student body is female only, currently the idea is there's just two male students at Grimwood's, this idea's version of Matches(who is the adopted kid of one of the teachers), and an exchange student of sorts, a member of a human Monster Hunter clan, in an attempt to improve relations between the two societies(legally Monster Hunters are only allowed to hunt Monsters that are preying on humans these days, but the days of free-range Hunts are a recent enough memory are still dangerously fresh), they'd both be main characters along with the main Grimwood Girls(the five from the original, plus the three introduced at the end of it)
