  1. It has taken me a few day to nominate myself. I believe becoming a moderator comes with extra responsibilities and expectations and I wanted to be sure I want to commit to that. I do.
  2.
  3. While Jeff may write that the task of a moderator is to do as little as possible(http://blog.stackoverflow.com/2009/05/a-theory-of-moderation/), I do think that those that are elected and their personal view on moderation can have a big impact in the way they do things. That's why I'd like to express my view and philosophy and express what my focus will be on if you vote for me.
  4.
  5. Much of my own learning path has been through community assistance. First Java and .NET, a lot of days (and nights) searching and reading on stackoverflow. More recent Force.com through the developer boards and SFSE. It has not only made me become part of many communities, it has shown me the huge value of questions and answers when they are "reusable".
  6.
  7. I have a focus on guiding new members and having them shape questions that are easier to answer but also more specific to the real issue so that they are easier found by the 100's or 1000's of others who will face the same issue in the future. I believe that too many of us focus on helping out the single user who asks a question (very admireable ofc), and forget about those in the future who could benefit from the answers given. Taking stackoverflow in example, the reason it's so omnipresent when searching for a solution is because it's so well governed and many questions and their titles are purely about the problem. This makes all the answers much more discoverable, and that's what we're all after. As a community we should not only be here to help to solve questions, but to guard the accumulated knowledge and solutions represented in the answers given.
  8.
  9. All of the above is a mission for all of the members of this community in my opinion, and I already try to actively participate in this. As a Moderator I would have more means to directly interact rather than flag and delegate as I do now.
  10.
  11. **Some statistics:**
  12.
  13. - I have 4000+ actions on the site(http://salesforce.stackexchange.com/users/119/samuel-de-rycke?tab=activity), I haven't been able to find anyone with more..
  14.
  15. - I'm "a regular" : http://i.stack.imgur.com/2WUhd.jpg
  16. - Most edits: http://salesforce.stackexchange.com/users?tab=Editors&filter=all
  17. - #3 votes given: http://salesforce.stackexchange.com/users?tab=Voters&filter=all
  18. - 4 Reviewer badges out of a total of 10 given out in total in the community (at time of writing, tied with mast0r): http://salesforce.stackexchange.com/help/badges/78/reviewer
  19. - First and only Steward badge of the community (at time of writing, mast0r is very close): http://salesforce.stackexchange.com/help/badges/83/steward
  20.
  21. **Salesforce knowledge:**
  22.
  23. I have been amazed at how much some members of this community know and how talented they are. I by no means have the same level of knowlege about salesforce and related technologies, but do have multiple (6) salesforce certifications and have been exploring newer additions to the salesforce ecosystem as heroku, exacttarget and pardot.
  24.
  25. As I believe all salesforce related technologies are in scope of this stackexchange site a moderator should be able to tell which questions are related to salesforce even if that might not be clear from the question content or title immediately.
