There seem to be widespread misnomers in publicly available information on dermatology as to whether or not plucking hairs leads to courser regrowth or a thinning effect upon repetition over time. Are you aware of any studies that answer this, whether you or any colleagues can answer this definitively (from field experience), or where I might turn to find a conclusive and trustworthy answer to this question? I did come across one older study which looked into a similar question about shaving, concluding that shaving does not affect the appearance, length, or courseness of regrown follicles. [1] I have not found an analog to this study for plucking.
