Bug Reporting

Title: Succinct description of the bug
Summary: A longer description that explains what the problem is.

Reproduction steps: a minimum list of easy-to-follow steps that allow the reader (consider your audience!) to reproduce the bug without your help

Error: what actually happens

Platform/Environment: software version, browsers, hardware, etc.

Supporting information: stack traces, videos, screenshots... these all help enormously as it's easier to see a problem than imagine it.

Risk & Implication: Sometimes I need to advocate a bug. This is where I describe possible risks and impact.


Remember that a bug follows the chain:
Threat: something that triggers a problem in a...
Vulnerability: something about the product that causes it to exhibit the...
Problem: Something the product does that we don't want it to do which adversely affects a...
Victim: Someone who feels the impact of the problem. All important bugs have a victim.
