Tangled Web Of Venom #2 Mania

(Inside a garage with a pair of half dismantled cars we see three Gunmen, g1 stands by a broken out window, shouting at the cops, the g2 is shouting at g1, and g3 has turned and looked up trying to see Mania in the rafters, all that can been seen are her eyes and spider emblem looking back down at him)

G1: You damn cops get any closer no you'll get another taste, and the next shots won't be warnings!!

G2: Dude, no, stop, you're going to get us tossed back in the joint, you fool!!

G3: Guys, what the hell is that?

(Upclose shot of g3 as webbing / symbiote covers his face, the splat muffling his attempt to warn the others)

Mania: (vo) These three stooges just shot into a crowd of people and cops alike. We were in that crowd.

(Mania drops down between g1 and g2, dodging below panicked gunfire, h web line has pulled g3 into the side of a nearby car)

Mania: (vo) We were there trying to make sure a friend of ours didn't get hurt.

(Mania leaps over to g1 while the tendril/webline that was on g3 snaps and whipped over at g2, knocking him off his feet)

Mania: (vo) They shot her. So, we don't feel bad about this.

(Outside the garage, we see the widow g1 had been shooting from shatter outward as g1 is tossed though it)

Mania: (vo) Not even a little bit.

(We see the cops react from behind the line, most are confused but a few rush forward)

Cop1: The hell was that?

Cop2: Whose in there?

Cop3: Secure that weapon and move up

Cop4: You, don't move.

(Outside the closed garage doors, the cops have taken position, from inside we can hear gunfire and horrified screams)

(From within the garage we see the doors shoved up and open, the cops have their guns draw)

Cop: Put your goddamn weapons -

(An upclose shot of the cops eye, within the reflection we see Mania with her spiral mouth look, holding one of the gunmen, hissing at the cop)

Cop: Wh-what the hell?!

(Mania tosses the gunmen at the cop with effortless ease sending him rocketing towards the cop)

(The Gunman collides into the cops, knocking them over, the sound of shattered glass can be herd from within the building)

(Looking through a broken skylight we see Mania web swinging away)

Mania: (vo) that was close. Too close, usually we avoid the cops.

(We see Mania webswinging through the city, the sun is beginning to droop low in the sky)

Mania: (vo) We want to go back, and make sure Chelsa is alright, but Andi didn't follow her there. So we focus our efforts elsewhere, we'll find out who they were working for, shut them down like we shut down Oger.

(Inside Gabe McKarthy's office, he sits behind his desk, watching a news report on tv, he speaks into his cell phone)

Gabe: No, I'm watching it right now? Get the word out that we're opening the south shop, have a few guys moved from the product lines over at the docks to cover the slack until we are able to hire on new hands. And find out who the hell started shooting and cut them off, no legal aid, nothing.

TV: -eyewitness were able to capture this footage of the vigilante known as Venom, fleeing the scene as police apprehended the gunmen.

( Gabe watches the screen for a moment longer in silence before he finally speaks, the screen continues to speak behind him, unnoticed.)

Gabe: Tell Doug that I want a copy of all of the security footage, and ask the guys what the hell it was that showed up in the shop, I want details.

TV: -bad enough, a morgue in West Camden was set alight last night in what is suspected to be a result of out of date gas pipes, sadly the accident claimed the lives of two men who were working that night.

(We see in the inside of Aunt Katt's kitchen, she has her cellphone to her ear and is listening to Andi's answering message again)

Voicemail: -your call, leave a messaged and we'll get back to you. <bop>

Katt: Damnit Andrea, why have a phone if you're not going to answer the goddamn thing!?

(We see Andi stepping up onto the front porch of Katt's house)

Andi: (vo) That took longer than I wanted, we found a couple of thugs, shook them down a bit, found out the guy that owns that shop is called McKarthy. I wonder if that's Josh's dad. The shake down wasn't the hard part, after you get out of the city you start loosing things to swing from, we're working on that though. Still, we're home later than I'd hoped.

(Inside the house, Andi has pushed the door open and stepped inside)

Andi: We're home.

(Katt has come out of the kitchen and from over her shoulder we see Andi taking offer jacket)

Katt: Why the hell didn't you pick up your phone!? I've been trying to call you for the past hour!!

Andi: Whoa, calm down Aunt Katt, I have to have it on silent during class.

Katt: Where have you been?!

(Upclose shot of Andi, she looks to one side, troubled about lying to Katt)

Andi: We went to the mall with Josh and Tina after school and I didn't even think to check my phone, sorry, God!

Andi: (vo) I hate lying to her.

(Profile shot showing both Andi and Katt facing one another )

Katt: I'm sorry, I found out earlier that Chelsa is in the hospital, she was shot, I know how close you two are, I thought maybe you were with her, and you-

Andi: (vo) have you ever herd your own voice coming out of your mouth, but it's not you talking?

(Up close shot of Andi's, as she speaks, still with that troubled look on her face)

Andi: She came with us, but didn't stay all that long. She was shot? Is she going to be okay?

(Profile shot of Katt as she hugs Andi, we're unable to see Andi's face)

Andi: Her mother said the bullet passed through her clean, they just needed to clean and bandage her up. I'm story Andi, I was just som worried about you.

(Andi steps away from Katt, we see both of them from behind)

Katt: Andi?

Andi: She wanted us to go with her, but we didn't. We're fine, just need time.

Katt: I can drive you to the hospital if you-

Andi: No. Thank you.

(Downward shot of Andi as she approaches her bedroom door, her eyes are wide like she was scared of something)

Andi: (vo) I can hear Aunt Katt talking to me, but the words are drown out behind the sound of my own beating heart. It's pounding so loud that I wonder how Aunt Katt hasn't herd it yet.

(Andi is back inside her unkept, dimly lit room, standing infornt of her large mirror, we see her reflection from over her shoulder, only it's the Mania symbiotie looking back at her)

Andi: You...controlled me, again, you can't-

(Inside the reflection we see Mania press one of her hands up against the inside of the glass, it's eyes wide with worry, the colors of Andi's voice overs is inverted)

Andi: (vo) It tells me that it was protecting me, that we are family, it won't let anything hurt us. It loves me, and I shouldn't be scared.

(A mirror shot of p26, only Andi is the one with her hand against the glass, she still looks scared, her voice over boxes have returned to normal)

Andi: (vo) I believe it, and deep down someplace that someplace, that scares me.

(Inside Andi's room, it's dark, the only light is the glow of her alarm clock, the bright numbers read 3:23)

Andi: (vo) I decided to stay night tonight, we've been heroing it up so much since aunt Katt took me in that i forgot how much I love my bed.

P29 (Andi sits up in her bed, half of her face is shadowed, showing the white eye of Mania, the half in the light shows her at ease, eyes closed asleep)

Andi: (vo) I forgot a lot of things, like how nice it feels to just relax and go to sleep.

(We see Mania web swinging through the city, the spider emblem on her chest is twisted into looking more like a pentagram)

Andi: (vo) To stop worrying about tomorrow and start dreaming about it instead.

(Mania lands oh the side of a hospital building and clings to it liked a spider would)

(from over Mania's head we see inside the hospital room, Chelsa is laying on the bed awake watching her tv screen)

Mania: (vo) to dream about your friends and family. Your loved ones.

(The door to Chelsa's room opens and Josh walks in with a soda and snacks for her, Andi's VObox becomes part was inverted)

Mania: (vo) Dreams about wrongs, and how we can make them right.

(Outside the the hospital Mania turns her head in the direction of a near by scream)

(We see a woman running towards us, she is terrified of the man chasing her with a knife, high above them and off in the distance we can see Mania webswinging after them)

Woman: Aiieee, somebody help me!!

Man: Stop your goddamn running lady!!

Mania: (vo) But there is another side to dreams

(The man has the woman backed up against the brick wall of an alleyway, he has her mouth covered with one and is threatening her with a knife in the other)

Mania: (vo) They can turn into nightmares on the turn of a dime.

Man: You make one more sound bitch and I'll cut your neck open. You got me!?

(Upclose shot of the woman's face, her mouth covered by the man's hand, her eyes are wide and looking upward, she somehow looks more frightened by whatever it is she sees)

(The man gets yanked away from the woman, just his feet can be seen at the top of the panel showing which way he was getting pulled in, the knife he was holding fallen down)

Mania: (vo) And some nightmares you can't forget.

(From the man's point of view we see him rushing up towards Mania's open maw, it's not like the Vemom face, it's the spiral mouth with fangs, the man screams)

Mania: (vo) Mo matter how hard you try to forget them.

(Off panel we hear wet crunching sounds, we see the woman looking up in horror, droplets of blood sprinkled on her cheeks)

Mania: (vo) You can remember all of it, all the little details. And even though you know it's not happening, what frightens you more than the nightmare itself is the fact that all that ugliness you dreamt up came from deep within you.

(Mania's face returns to normal, if a bit wet, she looks down at the woman who screams off panel. The spider emblem on Mania is changed fully into a pentagram and her large eyes burn like fire)

Mania: (vo) That nightmare is part of you, part of who you are.

(We find Josh, lounging on an expensive looking couch, he is speaking into his phone and behind him there is a man walking towards him from down a hallway)

Josh: - it's alright for you to be out so soon? I don't care if it was just your shoulder babe, a bullet wound is still a bullet wound.

(Same shot as in p45, only now Josh has sat forward and the man down the hall has gotten close enough for us to see that it's Gabe)

Josh: Okay, well, if you're sure then I'll pick you up tonight before it starts.

Gabe: What's that? The end of the year party that your throwing, which your mother and I aren't supposed to know about?

(Josh has turned his head to find his father standing there and he jumps with surprise)

Josh: Oh crap, babe, I gotta go. Dad, listen-

Gabe: Relax kid, your mom and I are leaving for New York as soon as she gets home, we gotta go and talk to my old man, let him know about Jordan and Jason, we won't be anywhere near your party.

Josh: Wait, you're cool with the party?

(Upclose shot of Gabe as he shrugs into a suit coat, Josh speaks off panel)

Gabe: I'm fine with it, don't tell your mother though, and I want you to have this house spotless when we come back tomarrow.

Josh: Awe-Some!!

Gabe: Hey, do you understand me Joshua? Spot. Less.

Josh: Yes sir.

(Up close profile shot of both Gabe and Josh standing in the hallway, Gabe has turned and started walking towards the front door, reaching into his coat pocket)

Gabe: Good kid, now, call your girl back.

Josh: Where are you going?

Gabe: Heading down to the police station to talk about the shop, figure out what the hell happened and how much damage was done.

Josh: The news said it got shot up pretty bad.

Gabe: I told you not to watch that garbage, remember; not a word to your mother, I'll be back later to pick her up.

(Outside, Gabe is waking towards his suv, he has his hand up by his ear, turning his earpiece on)

Gabe: Call Douglas

(We see through the windshield of Gabe's car, he is seated and buckling his seatbelt)

Gabe: 'Good Morning', not exactly the phrase I'd use.

(Gabe has started to back his car out of his drive way and into the street, it's a peaceful looking neighborhood)

Gabe: I'm on my way to the station now to talk to them, I want you to meet me there. Did you get the security footage I asked for? Good, put it on a flash drive and bring it with you.

(Gabe's car has begun to pull away, reviling behind his car, just out of arms reach, is nude, burnt man, still smoldering with smoke, reaching towards Gabe's car)

Gabe: what the hell does a morgue fire have to do with any of this? Stay focused Doug, I don't pay you for nothing.

(Profile shot of the burnt man standing in the street in front of the McKarthy house, staring off in the direction that Gabe drove off in)

(Same shot as p54 only the Burnt man has turned his head and stares at the McKarthy house)

(Mania sits atop a high rise, looking over the city skyline)

Mania: (vo) It's quite again, boring, everyone must still be hiding.

(Mania swings off her perch, outlined by the dropping sun behind her)

Mania: (vo) yeah, right, but this is good, we have a party to attend tonight.

(We see Mania seated atop a bus, the sign above her reads Jennkintown)

Mania: (vo) it took us a while to figure out the bus rout in and out of the city to Jennkintown. We hate it there, nothing to swing on.

(Side shot of the bus as it has come to a stop, letting people on, the Mania symbiote is in mid transformation showing Andi in a skirt and hoodie as she leaps off the back end)

Mania: (vo) Its too nice here too, can't just jump the rooftops in broad daylight, we don't mind the walk though, it's not far and it gives us time to

(Andi walks up the driveway to Katt's house, looking over at the car parked there)

Andi: (vo) Aunt Katt is home early today, she'll be happy to see me after yesterday, we haven't spoken since then. I keep pushing her away from me, I want to tell her that we're a super hero trying to do our best, but then I'm reminded about what happened to my father. I found out about coach and my dad paid the price, it's not fair to force Aunt Katt to pay that price.

(From inside the house the door opens and Andi steps in calling out to Katt who answers from off panel)

Andi: I'm home!

Katt: In the den, Andi quick, who played Freddy Kruger?

(Front shot of Katt sitting on her couch with a note pad and pen, watching her TV, behind her is Andi who has entered through the open doorway)

Andi: From Nightmare on Elm Street?

Katt: Yes, that's so the one!

(Andi joins Katt on the couch, obviously excited at what she is seeing)

Andi: Oh! Price of Fortune!!

Katt: Andi, quick!

Andi: Robert England.

(Both Andi and Katt cheer as the screen corresponds with their answer, Katt jots something down on her noted pad)

TV: And the answer is....Robtert England! Congratulations Mr Patterson that's another 300 hundred-

Katt: Great answer Andi!

Andi: Haha, yes! How much have you won tonight?

(Katt hands the notepad over to Andi who begins to investigate it)

Katt: A little under ten thousand so far, and we still have Cash Cab to go.

Andi: How....did you make so little on Jepordy?

Katt: No one was taking the expensive questions!

(Katt and Andi continue to watch the game show, as their conversation progresses)

Andi: So what are you doing home so early today Aunt Katt?

Katt: Took a sick day, wanted to just be a couch potato today, what about you? Home while the sun is still up? That's rare.

TV: Animals that are most active at night are called...

(Both Andi and Katt answer in unison Nocturnal as Andi returns the notepad to Katt)

Andi: Actually there is a party tonight, we came home to get ready.

Katt: A party? Really? Where?

Andi: At Chelsa's boyfriend's house in the city.

Katt: How is Chelsa doing?

(Upclose shot of Andi while she speaks )

Andi: She got free leased from the hospital today, wejust want to go the party and make sure she's doing alright, make sure she doesn't hurt herself.

Katt: Do you need a ride?

Andi: No, I can take the bus, and it's just a short walk to Josh's house thanks anyway. Besides we like walking at night, it's when the city looks it's best.

(Upclose shot of Katt who smiles but looks sad at the same time, Andi and the TV speak off panel)

Katt: You're just like your dad, he loved the city at night too you know. He and your mom got married at night while she was two months pregnant with you.

TV: And the answer is.....Nocturnal!

Andi: It was dad's idea to have the wedding at night, wasn't it?

Katt: That's right, sis hated the idea, fought it until the week of, but she loved him more. It was an amazing wedding.

(Upclose shot of Andi who looks to one side while she speaks, Katt answers from off panel)

Andi: Do you...have any pictures of the wedding? All of dad's were lost in the fire.

Katt: I do, in the photo album in my room. Let me go and get it.

(Andi and Katt sit on the couch together looking through the photo album)

Andi: (vo) Ever since I got the symbiote I've noticed how it's mood will change at the idea of family, it becomes confused, angry and uncomfortable. Tonight is no different. So I reach out. I tell it that it's part of my family now, and i feel it calm and relax. I wish it would talk more often.

(We see Gabe, walking behind his wife, he answers his ringing phone)

Gabe: Mr Hartly, good to finally hear from you, sweat can I do for you?

Blake: Oh no, Mr McKarthy, this is about what I can do for you. My assistant and I have been reviewing your...problem and we've taken interest. Tell me, do you know what a Symbiote is?

(We can see the back of Blake's head and shoulders, he's I a black suit coat and has long wild black hair, Gabe speaks through the phone)

Gabe: A symbi-what?

Blake: That would be a No. A symbiote, Mr McKarthy, is an alien life form like looks like a puddle of goo, but it's intelligent and usually augments it's host into a better version of itself. We believe you re dealing with one such creature called Venom.

(Gabe has stopped walking to focus on the phone call, ahead of him his wife looks annoyed by this)

Gabe: Great, now I know what he calls himself, have you got anything useful for me? Like maybe a way to kill the damn thing?

Blake: Several actually, I'd like you to visit my New York office tomarrow after your netting with your father is done.

(Gabe is wide eyed in shock looking at his phone)

Gabe: How the hell do you know I'm going to New York?

Blake: Because you need to tell your father about your brothers.

Gabe: How the hell do you know that!? If I find out you had anything to do with Jordan and Jason, I swear I will send you to hell personally!

(We see the under half of Blake's face, he is smiling wide and his teeth are longer and sharper than they should be)

Blake: Stop being so dramatic Gaberial, that's not my style, my eyes just see further than yours do. Now, I'm looking forward to seeing you tomarrow. Oh, and Mr McKarthy, please have an understand of Hell before you threaten me with it again.

(Andi gets up off her bed stretches, Katt calls to her from outside her room)

Katt: Andi, it's getting dark, are you sure you don't want a ride?

Andi: I'm fine Aunt Katt, save the gas.

Andi: (vo) We were actually waiting for the sun to go down, we can move faster at night when people can't really spot us jumping from roof to roof.

(Outside, Andi has started down the sidewalk, checking to make sure no one was around)

(Andi has leaped onto a rooftop and the Mania symbiote is beginning to cover her)

Andi: (vo) One of the things that I learned about the symbiote is that for a while it's host was a dog that had been caught in a blizzard with it. It still has the memories of that time, which is where we got this idea from.

(Mania leaps from one roof to the other. In mid leap her body transforms to resemble that of a canine)

(Mania runs across the rooftops on all fours at incredible speeds)

Mania: (vo) When we can't web swing , it's a hand quick was to travel, it feels weird, but we can get used to this.

(Mania swings through the city, passing by a glass window, her reflection has a pentagram rather than a spider on her chest)

(Mania lands in a tree not far from the party, cars are lining up the entire street, there are small groups of path goers gathered up on the McKarthy house lawn)

Mania: (vo) Wow, a lot of people showed up, it should make snooping through the house easier, but it's going to be a pain to find Chelsa here. If not I can just tell her I didn't see her.

(Andi approaches the party, her symbiote transforms into something cool and sexy for her to wear)

(We see Andi walking through the party, she spots Tina in the crowd)

Andi: Hey Tina!

Tina: Hey Andi, wow, dressed to kill.

Andi: Something like that, have you seen Chelsa?

(Tina points off to the side and Andi starts walking off that in that direction)

Tina: Last time I saw them, they were out back, by the pool. Hey Andi, sorry I was a complete bitch the other day.

Andi: Thanks Tina, don't worry about it, we don't mind.

(We see Chelsa and Josh sitting together by the poolside, Chelsa has her arm in a sling and excitedly waves ounces to spots Andi walking over)

Chelsa: Andi, you made it! Oh wow you look good girl!

Andi: Thanks Chel, I'm not here long, I wanted to come back and see you see how the arm is feeling.

(Andi helps pull Chelsa to her feet and Josh starts to get up as well)

Chelsa: It hurts like hell, but I've had worse, the first week of Track hurt more than this.

Josh: I'm going to go and get another drink babe, and patrol the party, make sure nothing is broken.

Chelsa: Alright Josh so, Andi, you surprised me by actually showing up here tonight. I honestly thought that you didn't want to hang out with us anymore free what happened at school the other day.

(Andi looks off to one side like she is trying to hide a smile)

Andi: How can I describe this...Okay, so, I sort of met this person who literally saved my life, but now they're kind of stuck with me. They have been taking up all of my time.

Chelsa: Oh, so, you have a boyfriend then?

(Andi just stares at Chelsa blankly)

(Front shot of Chelsa who shrugs best she can)

Chelsa: Or a girlfriend?

(Andi just shrugs and tilts her head to one side as she dismisses the question)

Andi: Doesn't matter to us.

Chelsa: What? But-

Andi: Doesn't matter to us.

(Profile shot showing both Chelsa, who is wide eyed with sudden false enlightenment and Andi, who has closed her eyes and uses her hand to keep her laughter down)

Chelsa: Ohhhhh

Andi: Yeah Chel, you totally figured it out

Chelsa: Why didn't you just tell me sooner?

(Upclose shot of Andi who flashes Chelsa a sly grin)

Andi: Oh, we just figured that you might misunderstand some how.

(Andi and Chelsa laugh and Andi begins to step away)

Andi: Well, since we're here, I'm going to go and get a drink

Chelsa: Drinking now too? Are you sure you're feeling okay Andi?

(Andi makes her way back into the party, slipping between a few of the other party goers)

(We see Andi climb the stairs unnoticed by anyone at the party)

Andi: (vo) So far so good, just like in the movies, I wonder if coach did this kind of stuff.

(We can see Andi snooping around McKarthy's office)

Andi: (vo) Wehave no idea what we're looking for, but we don't get enough time to actually search before...

(We see the door start to open up)

(Josh and Micky come walking in, Josh looks very angry and Micky looks scared)

Josh: What the hell is this about Uncle Mick? Dad told me you are not allowed over here

Mick: Please, I need your dad's gun. It's going to kill me.

Josh: No, damnit, leave or I'm calling the cops.

(We see the outside of the house I the backyard for behind the pool, The burnt man is standing there looking at the McKarthy house)
